<cak> Hiya

<Janet> Howdy!

<glitrbug> Hi janet, what are you teaching us tonite?

<Janet> I'm teaching you the very easy no-fail pendant design.

<glitrbug> Ok, sounds good

<Janet> (and next week I'm hoping for more glass boiling stories)

<Janet> (that's an oh-so-subtle hint)

<glitrbug> I missed that one but it sounds facinating

<cak> (I can tell you how to boil glass!)

<Janet> Hi, Phil!

<glitrbug> Hi phil

<phil> Hi everyone

<brenda> hey phil

<brenda> hey sparkle

<JonaFromGermany> hye sparkle

<spark2> hi all

<Janet> Let me reload my graphics on this class page. I uploaded the wrong set of them. The too big set.

<Janet> brb

<JonaFromGermany> ok but then we have to start cause I have to be in bed when my husband stand's up:-))

<glitrbug> Jona, how did you find our group?

<phil> what is the class on

<Janet> The easy no-fail pendant design.

<glitrbug> janet says about a no fail pendant

<phil> I love no-fail fudge good

<glitrbug> ME too.

<Janet> I love fudge!

<glitrbug> Never met a fudge I didn't love

<Janet> (Only I failed at uploading the page. I uploaded the original graphics by mistake. Not the small file versions.)

<glitrbug> Ha Ha

<Janet> I THINK this is at http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/tooeasy/

<glitrbug> Keep trying, Jona needs to see them & get too bed before her husband gets up

<Janet> Deb!

<deb> hi

<Janet> Look there. http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/tooeasy/

<Kriztina> whatcha making??

<glitrbug> Hi Deb, how is your head?

<Janet> A pendant with Sea-Kriztal.

<Kriztina> heyyyy that looks familiar

<deb> not good

<Janet> LOL. It should.

<Janet> I'm sorry, Deb. (for everything)

<JonaFromGermany> so girls that's it

<glitrbug> sorry deb, does the doc say how long you might have the headaches?

<JonaFromGermany> I have to leave

<phil> It sure loads a lot faster with dsl

<Janet> Christa, I think you can see just how to make this without even being in class.

<Janet> Take care. Happy Wednesday. :)

<cak> save the url, it looks pretty self-explanatory

<JonaFromGermany> my DS stand beside me and ask why I don't come in bed:-))(

<deb> the pendant is gorgeous

<JonaFromGermany> yes thanks Janet

<Janet> It's very easy to make.

<phil> it is but I thought it was going to be fudge

<Janet> That's a piece of sea kriztal and copper wire

<brenda> neat janet

<Janet> Phil, if it was fudge, I probably wouldn't be sharing.

<phil> oh

<Janet> LOL

<brenda> could you do this with those stones that are rounded on one side and flat on the other side

<JonaFromGermany> ok bye ladies:-))

<brenda> bye jona

<Janet> Yep, you can do this with anything. I've done it with the cabechon cut stones (flat on one side, domed on the other) and it looks really impressive.

<Janet> RK!

<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/tooeasy/

<RubberKin> hey janet :)

<brenda> hey rk

<Janet> OR you could make your own cab out of polymer clay. Stamp it with a Red Castle image.

<brenda> yep and he has some neat images

<RubberKin> hey very cool idea !!

<RubberKin> love the pendant

<brenda> like the gibson girls

<Janet> Or do a shrink plastic one. Like that big botanical image I used as a sample in paint class Saturday night? on shrink plastic. That would be really pretty all done with wire this way.

<Janet> Ohhhh! a gibson girl. Stamped in Quintessentials poly clay. :)

<brenda> yep

<Janet> (wake up, Sparkle. give us a special)

<Janet> LOL. I am such a special begger.

<Janet> See how to do this from the page, though?

<Janet> And you don't have to have a specific number of wires, either.

<Janet> A small oval cab looks pretty awesome just done with four swirlies.

<brenda> yep and looks like even a novice could do this

<Janet> that's two wires crossed (instead of the four shown) plus another wire that you bend up for the hanging loop.

<brenda> what size wire janet?

<Janet> Enchy!

<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/tooeasy/

<Janet> Depends on the size stone.

<phil> I got 70# of defective rubber yesterday, so I should have images to give away for a while, Marlene said "now can I have some Sand Pictures". I would not let her cut a sheet because I needed them all that were good to sell before.

<Janet> I used about a 1" square piece of glass for the sample and 20 gauge copper wire.

<brenda> oh no phil

<RubberKin> well for the sea glass you did what size wire did you use

<RubberKin> got it

<RubberKin> thanks

<Janet> Yes!! Oh. oops. I mean, Oh that's a shame about that defective rubber, Phil. (did that sound sincere?)

<brenda> no janet it didnt sound sincere at all

<phil> no very

<Janet> LOL

<phil> Janet, how much pressure does the wire put on the object?

<RubberKin> lol you need more practice

<Janet> almost none, Phil

<enchy> that's very beaUtiful janet

Janet practices her sympathetic sad face.

<brenda> ]it is just kinda there then not really holding?

Janet is afraid her happy dancing feet give her away, though.

<brenda> roflol

<Janet> right, it's just holding it in place.

<phil> So could one take a small image like a sand picture stamp it on cardboard and put clear enamal over it and use that?

<Janet> You probably need three swirlies at a minimum. Sort of like needing three legs on a stool.

<Janet> Oh Phil, that would be beautiful. That's what I was thinking. A sand picture stamp texture on anything would make a wonderful pendant.

<brenda> phil i will try one out while i am doing these sand stamps

<phil> good

<enchy> what is a sand stamp? did i miss something?

<phil> brenda, did I send them to you yet?

<brenda> yep

<brenda> and i sent a note to tell you got them

<Janet> So all you do is decide how many swirlies you want on your finished piece and cut half that many pieces of wire, plus one for the hanging loop.

<phil> the sand pictures are stamps that the image was created by viberating sand on a glass

<brenda> he has stamps called sand stamps that are so neat

<Janet> Enchy, they are like really delicate texture/geometric sort of stamps. You need them. Trust me.

<phil> Janet don't you usually want an odd number of wires showing ?

<enchy> i'll have to go look at them

<enchy> they sound very interesting

<Janet> I prefer an odd number showing, so I use all but one for swirlies, then use the one for the hanging loop.

<Janet> But a square pendant, like one made with a sand stamp? I'd maybe use four swirlies, one at each corner.

<Janet> Then I'd double over the other wire and do a double-wire hanger.

<phil> I was always told that is you use an even number you must have even spaces, but if you use an odd number you don't need to make the space even

<Janet> Or if I cut it into an oval, too. I might use four, two on each side

<Janet> Yep. and I like asymmetrical things.

<phil> Are you using gold jewlery wire or copper?

<Janet> (it fits my "can't measure worth crap" skills)

<Janet> That shown is copper. From the hardware store.

<phil> It also makes you an artist.

<Janet> I think it runs $3 for a million bazillion feet of it.

<phil> does it turn green?

<Janet> Yep.

<phil> does the green rub off on the cloths

<Janet> Eventually. It won't turn green if you want it to. It has some sort of coating. But you wear it a couple of times and it starts to turn green, no problem.

<brenda> why would you use something that turns green?

<Janet> I like the look of green copper patina.

<phil> and it is slightly cheaper than gold wire

<brenda> oh ok

<Janet> When it's as green as I like (I'll tell how I do get it green once the finish starts to wear off) then I spray an acrylic sealer on it.

<brenda> ok

<Janet> Gold wire, pretty light like 22 gauge? Seems like that's running something like $20 a foot for half-round.

<Janet> Silver wire is cheap. Not as cheap as copper, but less than 50 cents a foot.

<enchy> did you ever try aluminum janet?

<Janet> No, I haven't found where to buy aluminum other than pretty heavy gauge that you can get at the Radio Shack.

<Janet> I've done sculptures with that stuff.

<enchy> rings and things has it

<enchy> and colored anodized too

<Janet> Aluminum wire?

<enchy> yes

<Janet> ooooo yeah, that nabouhsomething wire is really pretty

<enchy> 24 and 18 guage

<enchy> in colors

<enchy> :)

<Janet> artistic wire, like Time to Stamp sells, that's coated wire and won't turn green unless you wear the coating off.

<Janet> oh and I lied. 22 gauge 14k wire is ONLY $12 a foot

<enchy> lol

<Janet> what's the URL for rings and things?

<Janet> ringsandthings.com?

<enchy> well let's buy a few dozen yards

<enchy> http://www.rings-things.com

<enchy> you'll have to fax them your biz license

<Janet> I'm loading that, will go shopping after class. :)

<enchy> shopping shopping it's a good thing

<Janet> No problemo, I think I still have the scan of that from the last time I faxed it somewhere.

<enchy> they have very good service - i usually get the order 3 days after i place it

<enchy> of course it only has to come over the hill to get here

<Janet> So I think y'all can see how to make this deal. Only tricky part is the hanging loop and that's not really tricky at all.

<enchy> but for a w/s place that is very good

<Janet> It sure is. Even Rio Grande, that ships fast, takes almost a week.

<Janet> and by the time I order wire, I want it yesterday.

<enchy> well yes - i'm that way with beads

<Janet> This would work well with a big honkin glass bead, ya know.

<enchy> yes that's what i was thinking

<phil> stupid dsl resets every little while

<Janet> Put one wire through the bead and do a swirlie at the bottom, use the wire that's coming out of the top for the hanging loop. And do the rest just the same.

<enchy> or a coolio shard of cd that was stamped on and utee on the edges

<Janet> You do look speedy with DSL, Phil. Do you love it?

<Janet> oh yeah. CD shards make great pendants.

<phil> Yes, but it will be better when they get the ISP router card replaced that is reseting the system all the time

<RubberKin> night all heading for bed early :) take care

<glitrbug> I am afraid I am falling asleep as well.

<Janet> Well, I'm pretty well done here.

<enchy> stick a fork in her, she's done

<Janet> Any questions before =I= put myself to sleep?<>

<glitrbug> thanks for the class Janet. Will have to try that on an AOL Cd

<enchy> nighty bye all

<Janet> Try it. It's really easy.

<cak> Everything seems pretty clear (and easy--I love easy)

<brenda> me too cak

<Janet> Only part that's not real self-explanatory is the hanging loop.

<brenda> how do you do that janet?

<glitrbug> i will, I did buy some wire so I need to try it out

<Janet> And that's just using the longer wire you didn't put a swirlie in and wrapping it a couple of times around your pliers, then securing that with a hangman noose at the bottom.

<Janet> Like wrap it a couple times around the widest part of your pliers, then with the wire still wrapped around the plier jaw, do the noose part around the bottom.

<brenda> what is a hangman noose?

<Janet> then take the pliers out of the loop and cut the end of the wire flush

<Janet> brenda, look on the other night's class page, that shows it well.

<glitrbug> Ok, but why do you wrap it a couple times around the pliers? why not once?

<Janet> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/bejeweled/

<phil> It looks better if it has several wraps

<Janet> I do it a couple of times so I feel like I have a more secure loop. I'm always bending these loops. I don't know how, but I do.

<glitrbug> Ok, I will give it a try

<brenda> ty janet

<Janet> Y'all have fun making these!

<brenda> will have to try this

<brenda> and know where to go if i have questions

<brenda> lol

<Janet> LOL

<brenda> nite everyone

<Janet> And where to go for the cool stamps to make other pendants with, too.

<brenda> yep sure do know that

<brenda> lol red castle

<Janet> Brenda, make a couple with sand stamps for us to see.

<brenda> will try to

<Janet> Kewl!

<brenda> have never did anything with wire before so this totally new

<phil> Janet, I have the kite Santa that I think I will try and get Marlene to make a pendant with being she took ALL of my stamping supplies to her place

<brenda> but it sure looks good

<Janet> LOL. Go Marlene!

<cak> Alright Marlene!

<Janet> I think that kite Santa would make a really awesome holiday pendant.

<cak> (or an ornament?)

<Janet> Brenda, it's really easy.

<Janet> Oh yeah, would make a great ornament, too.

<brenda> would look good on one of these clear cds that you could stain any color you wanted

<phil> an ornament never thought of that wow

<Janet> And copper looks so good hanging in a tree.

<phil> How do you stamp on a clear cd, I have a couple dozen of them?

<Janet> looks good the first year when it's copper. and great the next year(s) when it's green.

<Janet> Yeah, how do you stain it?

<Janet> stamp on it with permanent ink. I know that part.

<brenda> paint them with the stain glass paint then utee or what ever you can use the stuff to keep it from sticckiong and just stamp and emboss

<Janet> oh kewl!!

<brenda> i got hundreds of clear cds

<brenda> had to figure out something to do with them

<phil> what is stained glass paint

<Janet> Yeah, I've got a few. I messed up a couple of times the last backup I made.

<phil> but the cdr's are not clear?

<Janet> That's the stuff you can buy at the Wal-Mart, Phil. Made by Plaid or someone like that. It's transparent acrylic-based tinting

<Janet> No, I have metallic on the back of them.

<brenda> phil i will have to find them and write the name of them to you

<phil> oh I've used that

<Janet> Hi, Diane.

<brenda> that is them

<MomCat> Hi!!

<phil> did you buy them clear?

<brenda> hey momcat

<brenda> nope got them where i used to work

<Janet> I bought the cheapest ones. the write-able part is sort of blue-ish

<Janet> 30 cents each.

<phil> okay they must be the top and bottom in each spindle of cdr's

<brenda> we packged ceds and these were the ones they used to protect the stacks from scratche

<Janet> yeah, the clear top and bottom of the spindles make cool things, too.

<brenda> yep

MomCat bounces around the room, caroming off walls and meowing happily.

<phil> okay I have a bunch of them from my spindles.

<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/tooeasy/ is the class page, Diane.

<Janet> me too. I hate to throw anything away.

<brenda> they used to toss them and i wanted to figure out a way to use them

<MomCat> thank you

<brenda> well 6 am came early this morning

<brenda> nite everyone

<cak> Night Brenda

<Janet> (I think I did that to myself)

<brenda> byeeeee

<phil> nite

<Janet> I had to come back to say goodbye. :)

<cak> lol!

<phil> night everyone, need to work for awhile

<Janet> Take care, Phil.

<phil> these are great ideas Janet

<cak> Night phil
