<EmbossinBa> what are we learning tonight?
<cak> hiya. I was just gonna put Janet on the spot and ask her the same thing
<Janet> LOL
<Janet> Want to learn some wire earring designs?
<Janet> I can quick scan the ones I've done lately.
<Janet> earrings are easy things to do
<deb> I did one
<Janet> Deb, let's see!
<deb> I think I scanned the purple one
<deb> um it's not on my page
<deb> it's ust using the pins
<Janet> flip me and I'll put it up?
<cak> head pins?
<Janet> anybody have any preferences?
<deb> yes headpins
<deb> hold on - I think I sent it to you janet
<deb> the other nite
<cak> not me--I'm easy (no cracks please)
<deb> let me see what the name of it is
<Janet> I did do some neat earrings that my dear daughter already swiped.
<Janet> let me look too, Deb.
<Janet> if I put up the things you flipped me the other night would you tell us how to make them?
<cak> did she at least let you scan/photo it before she disappeared them?
<deb> It's Earringpur.jpg
<deb> yep
<deb> they are very easy
<Janet> no, she swiped first, then told me later she had them.
<deb> I dont' do hard stuff
<Janet> okay, let me put up what I got from you
<Janet> (bullcrunchies, Deb)
<deb> no I'm serious
<deb> they were all just threaded on
<deb> Stretch Magic thread
<deb> that's all
<deb> I never did figure out how to fix the links on my garage sale page
<deb> so finally I just went in and enlarged the pics
<deb> and added 4 more pages
<deb> of stamps
<deb> to sell
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletblgold.jpg
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletfish0.jpg
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletturq0.jpg
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/earringpur.jpg
<Janet> Deb, I don't know how your web software works doing those. I just know how to do it by hand.
<deb> yeah me either
<deb> I found where I uploaded it
<deb> but couldn'lt figure out how to link it
<deb> so I just enlarged the pics
<deb> that worked too
<deb> added 4 more pages of stamps to sell
<Janet> Kewl.
<Janet> This garage sale thing worked out well.
<deb> yes it did
<deb> it was something I was going to suggest t oyou
<Janet> So tell about what you used making these bracelets?
<deb> and you beat me to it
<deb> well I just used this stuff I found called Stretch Magic thread .5mm
<deb> and I doubled it
<deb> and threaded it through the beads
<Janet> ohhhhh doubled it. yes!
<Janet> Nikki!
<deb> I tried to tie it where the larger bead would go over the knot
<Nikki> hi all
<Janet> (Deborah says to tell you that she's not dead.)
<cak> This is for all those lovely bracelets?
<deb> and then I superglued the knot
<phil> Yes the garage sale was great, sold almost everything
<deb> yes
<Janet> Nikki, Deb's talking about her creations at..
<deb> all of the bracelets are threaded onto the Stretch Magic
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/earringpur.jpg
<deb> because I didn't have any of t he latches
<deb> to attach to close them
<Janet> uh, what were the other URLs
<cak> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletblgold.jpg
<cak> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletfish0.jpg
<cak> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletturq0.jpg
<cak> (I think)
<Janet> YAY
<Janet> those look right
<deb> the the black/gold seed bead one
<deb> was threaded double too and I made 3 different patterns
<deb> so that I just wrapped it around my arm 3 times
<deb> and it looks like 3 bracelets
<Janet> that one is so lovely
<deb> the other ones are
<cak> LIke you do a rubberband?
<deb> yes
<deb> exactly
<enchy> ty
<Janet> wow
<cak> (what an elegantly simple solution)
<deb> they were very easy to make
<deb> and worked really neat
<Janet> Enchy, Deb's telling us how to make>
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/earringpur.jpg
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletblgold.jpg
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletfish0.jpg
<Janet> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletturq0.jpg
<deb> the earrings were just
<deb> threaded onto a head pin
<deb> and then a loop put on the end
<Janet> Hey, Jan!
<deb> and attached to the earring wire
<deb> nothing hard
<deb> except making the loop
<deb> (I"m not too good at loops yet)
<brenda> well got to go
<Janet> Do you have round nose pliers? Those really help making loops
<brenda> nitw
<deb> yes
<Janet> take care, Brenda
<deb> but couldn't get it right
<cak> (night brenda)
<deb> nite bren
<brenda> bye
<Janet> I think it's easier to bend the wire at the 90 degree angle first, then do the loop.
<cak> I'm usually OK til I start "fixing" it
<Janet> i seem to get them neater that way
<deb> maybe that was my problem
<deb> cause it seemed to want to turn into the bead to fast
<Janet> Yeah, I can't "fix" anything. If I don't get it right the first time, I might as well cut it off and try again
<cak> Do you (either deb or Janet) pull the wire around the pliers or use the pliers to make a circle with the wire?
<deb> I used the pliers to make the circle
<deb> then squeezed it shut
<Janet> try bending it at a right angle right above that last bead, then grip that after the bend and wrap the wire around the plier
<deb> I'll try that
<Janet> and I make it lap over then use the wire cutters to cut it at an angle flush with where it laps over
<deb> I didn't have any extra to cut off
<Janet> that cutting at an angle helps me too
<deb> in fact I probably could hjave used a longer head pin
<Janet> yeah, headpins are like that
<deb> but was trying to get the 2 strands about the same size
<Janet> I always run outta room with those
<deb> I wore t hem to dinner Sat. nite
<Janet> I screw them up so often I've started just using wire. Putting a crimp bead at the end.
<Janet> I bet they looked lovely with your pretty hair and everything.
<deb> are th ere different kinds of crimp beads?
<deb> I don't get those
<deb> get = understand
<Janet> there are, different textures of ones. They're easy...
<cak> I'm with you deb--I kinda get the theory, but I guess I need some experience
<deb> well when I got to buy some
<Janet> ya stick one where you want to finish off, then smash the lil puppy to make it stick.
<deb> they just don't look like what I think everyone is talking about
<Jan> hi janet! I'm having a heck of a time bringing up that url or any of them for that matter....
<cak> Are they usually just circles of metal that you can squash?
<Janet> there's crimper pliers that are cool (but a little expensive) that will smash for you, then with another place on the pliers to smash the smashed bit into a round shape
<Janet> they are just circles of metal, soft metal, that you squish.
<deb> hmm
<cak> (like real broad jump rings?)
<deb> wider than that I think?
<Janet> Jan, they should be working, try typing it in... http:// www.cybercrafters.com (this is different than cyberstampers) / class/ deb/ then the name of the graphic
<Janet> they're usually about 2mm or so
<Janet> pretty small.
<phil> Janet why the spaces in the url?
<Janet> you can get them in silver, gold, gold-filled, plus base metals
<deb> ok - I'll have to give them another try
<Janet> Phil, because if someone is reading and typing, it's easier to see with spaces in there.
<deb> http://www.cybercrafters.com/class/deb/braceletblgold.jpg
<deb> can you click on that Jan
<Janet> I learned that when Frank was on the web page gateway.
<Janet> no clicking on there, he'd have to type in everything
<Janet> and he was death on typos unless I separated it out for him
<Jan> no,
<deb> lol
<Janet> (and with Frank, he wouldn't say "I typoed that" he'd say "your page won't load")
<deb> jan - want me to dcc the file to you
<Jan> sure if you'll tell me what that means?
<Janet> can't dcc on the web page
<deb> I think my muscle relaxer is starting to work
<deb> ok - I can email them to you
<Janet> oh that's good, Deb. Mine is too.
<deb> if yo give me your email
<deb> my back has been miserable
<deb> this last week
<Janet> it's my jaw. I think from listening 24/7 the last four days.<g>
<Jan> sure, it is jjjanse@mhtc.net
<cak> LOL--biting the tongue?
<deb> mine hurts from the neck down to below my bra in the back
<Janet> deb, that sounds hard, related to your neck injury you think?
<deb> jan - I'll do it now
<deb> hold on
<Jan> tina turner, janet?
<deb> ye sI think so
<Jan> thanks deb.
<Janet> Naw, was just complaining that Mike has been here the last four days (four days off in a row, so he wanted to share them with me oh joy) and I think he's talked nonstop the whole four days
<Janet> which would be just barely survivable if he didn't expect me to listen. Unfortunately he wants me to listen.
<cak> the nerve!
<Jan> ahh, and I bet your wondering who put the quarter in him?
<Janet> and before I sound like a real nasty bitch, I DO listen most of the time when he's just talking an hour or so at a time
<deb> ok Jan - it's on it's way
<Janet> well, I must confess, I've been looking for the power off button.
<Jan> thanks!
<deb> you are welcome
<deb> o k- have to help carye with science homework
<deb> if you need me beep me
<Janet> Oh. One thing about crimp beads I've learned.
<cak> Thanks for sharing deb--your creations are beautiful
<Janet> Deb, consider this a beep
<deb-afk> thanks charlotte
<deb-afk> LOL
<Janet> you need to know this.
<deb-afk> ok janet
<deb-afk> I'm listening
<Janet> don't use crimp beads between pearls.
<deb-afk> er watching
<Janet> they're too rough on the edges
<deb-afk> oh yes I knew that
<Janet> they'll scratch your pearls
<deb-afk> but that' sthe only thing I knew
<Janet> Well FINE. So why didn't you tell ME that???!?
<deb-afk> Deborah told you that
<Janet> before I screwed up these pearls.
<deb-afk> you have to knot them
<Janet> Oh. I uh uh uh wasn't listening?
<deb-afk> LOL
<deb-afk> ah HA
Janet turns in her ears for a better pair
<cak> I think you should claim you were just being experimental/edgy
<Janet> LOL
<Janet> yeah. that's it.
<deb-afk> lol
<Janet> I still think I can use the lil crimp beads between pearls but I'll need to file them smooth before I do
<Janet> (in which case it's prolly not worth the effort)
<cak> So do the pearls break?
<Janet> naw, they just scratch up
<cak> (soft little boogers)
<Janet> a scratched pearl is a sad thing
<Janet> yeah
<Jan> got them deb. they are very pretty!
<deb-afk> thanks jan
<cak> I wonder how ugly they'd be if you "antiqued" them with paint
<cak> kinda denies their pearliness though
<Janet> I wonder, though.
<Janet> OH. I was gonna tell about what I made, I'm gonna make more this week. I stamped those zoo stamps of Phil's into sculpey
<Nikki> or use pearl mica or pearlescent paint
<Janet> which is cool enough, but then I used spray sizing like adhesive on those and covered them with the foil he sent.
<cak> You got sumthin' to show or tell only?
<Janet> these are the ones TB stole
<cak> good idea Nikki
<Janet> oh yeah. pearl mica would do nicely I think.
<Janet> Hey, Jan!
<phil> Janet, I want a picture
<Jan> well now, knocked my self out
<cak> Too late!
<Janet> Phil, I'm gonna send you the whole earrings.
<phil> oh even better
<cak> Oh, you reclaimed them?
<Janet> I was starting to put all your samples into a nice padded envy the other day, couldn't find those. Asked TB on the phone last night if she remembered seeing them.
<Janet> No, gotta make more.
<Janet> She tried telling me the cat ate them.
<cak> Ah (sucker mom)
<enchy> lol
<Jan> hungry cat
<Janet> Ended telling me they got good compliments in her econ class
<phil> they never change, same thing they say at 3
<cak> LOL!
<Janet> Yep.
<Jan> lol
<cak> If it ain't broke, don't fix it?
<Janet> The funny part is that one of my cats really does swipe beads on strands.
<cak> (chico the crafter cat?)
<enchy> the dogs here *played with* a hank of beads yesterday
<Janet> once they're loose he'll knock them around and play with them under my desk, but if they're still on a strand, he takes them and hides them in his box.
<Janet> That's the one.
<Janet> Oh no!
<Janet> hanks don't "play" well.
<Janet> Sparkle!
<Jan> hey sparkle!
<Janet> How many did they break, Enchy?
<cak> I hope it stayed a hank!
<sparkle> hi Janet!
<sparkle> Hi Jan
<enchy> um no
<Janet> (and don't they sound funky being vacuumed up?)
<enchy> they took them offa the hank for me
<enchy> these were too big to vacuum
<enchy> mr latta picked them all up
<Jan> that was helpful of them
<sparkle> uh oh..what did Irie do?
<sparkle> LOL
<Janet> wow. That's awesome of Mr. Latta.
<enchy> she and zekie played tug of war with a hank of beads
sparkle will not laugh, sparkle will not laugh, sparkle will not laugh
<cak> lol!
<Janet> (this discussion has grown out of TB telling me that the cat ate the earrings I made for Phil)
cak will
<enchy> mr latta picked them up because he didn't want to hear me curse
Janet falls over laffin, having made no such rash promises
<sparkle> Enchy, I woulda picked 'em up for you too
Jan tickles sparkle so she does laugh
<enchy> i know you would have sparkle
<sparkle> one for you, one for me
<enchy> one for enchy
<Janet> You must be a better curser than me
<sparkle> LOL
<enchy> two for me
<enchy> one for enchy
<enchy> three for me
<sparkle> LOL
