sundaystam> CLASS BGINS EVERYONE READY?
<Magenta> ty Sunday
<sundaystam> YW
<sundaystam> INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW
<sundaystam> 1. STAMP POSTAL ON PIECE OF TEXT PAPER ABOUT 3" SQUARE. CUT ALONG THE INNER SOLID LINE WITH EXACTO KNIFE UNTIL CENTER COMES OUT. THIS WILL BE ONE TYPE OF MASK.
<sundaystam> STOP ME WHENEVER YOU WANT FOR QUESTIONS
<Janet> this is on our masking paper?
<sundaystam> YES
<sundaystam> . DO THIS WITH BOTH POSTALS.
Janet has a pad of post-its for that
<sundaystam> HEY BETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<sundaystam> BEEN MISSING YA!
<betsy> hey happy birthday babeee
<brenda> hey betsy
<sundaystam> TY
<Janet> (pssst. The Time to Stamp postals are at http://www.timetostamp.com/design.html )
<Janet> (some great ones by Sunday stamper there)
<sundaystam> KRISTY WAS HOPING TO BE HERE TONIGHT!
<sundaystam> TY JA
<sundaystam> ANY QUESTIONS SO FAR
<sundaystam> NOW STAMP SEVERAL POSTALS ON ANOTHER PIECE OF TEXT PAPER AND TRIM ALONG SCALLOPED EDGE CUTTING DOWN TO THE "INNER" CUP STRAIGHT ACROSS.
<Janet> nope. i'm okay so far.
<sundaystam> THIS WAS A HARD THING TO NOT BE ABLE TO SHOW...
<Janet> wait. I don't get that.
<sundaystam> CAN YOU ALL UNDERSTAND?
<Janet> not me. I'm cutting a mask but cutting the scallops off?
<sundaystam> OK STAMP THE POSTALS A BUNCH OF TIMES
<sundaystam> AFTER YOU HAVE CUT THE OPEN CENTER MASKS
<sundaystam> OK FIRST STAMP THE SQUARE AND TRIANGLE AND CUT THE CENTER OUT
<betsy> iiner cup??
<Janet> (instructions at http://home.rochester.rr.com/sundaystamper/Instructions.htm )
<sundaystam> THEN ON OTHER PAPER CUT STAMP A BUNCH AND CUT THE EDGES OFF
<sundaystam> ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE CIRCLE
<Janet> okay. got it.
<cak> So you're trimming off the perforations?
<sundaystam> TRIMMING OFF THE EDGES OF THE PERFERATION LINES
<CrowFeathe> circle?
<sundaystam> CAK'S GOT IT
<sundaystam> ACTUALLY THE HALF CIRCLE PERFS CR
<CrowFeathe> but leaving the frame?
<CrowFeathe> oh i get it now, thx
<betsy> so why are you cutign off the perfs??
<sundaystam> LEAVE THE FRAME AND THE EDGE OF THE PERF BUT TRIMNMING OFF THE LITTLE BITS
<CrowFeathe> you mean cut off the mountains but leave the valleys
<Janet> (to save my scissor-impaired sanity, Betsy)
<sundaystam> EASIER THAN CUTTING EACH ONE BETS
<sundaystam> THAT'S RIGHT CR!
<betsy> ok what if you used teh postoid scissors to cut??
<betsy> wouldnt that work
<CrowFeathe> so you don't have a straight edge just a cup cup cup edge
<sundaystam> THEY DON'T USUALLY MATCH THE STAMPS BETS BUT GIVE IT A TRY
<Janet> I can't line up those with the stamp edges
<Janet> (hey, Nancy)
<betsy> so kind of a reverse scallop edge
<PitPlayer> hey, Janet :)
<Janet> http://home.rochester.rr.com/sundaystamper/Instructions.htm
<betsy> well i figure my maskign wil be screwed up any way
<betsy> what diff does it make
<sundaystam> OK EVERYONE TOGETHER NOW?
<sundaystam> QUESTIONS?
Magenta listens intently
<sundaystam> I LOVE INTENT LISTENERS
<CrowFeathe> uuuuuu -- like that sort of?
<cak> I think I"m OK. If I don't understand the next step, I'll know I'm not.
<phil> Hi everyone
<betsy> ok so we ahve a frame mask and a solid mask for each shape??
<sundaystam> AND MORE OF THE SOLID MASK THAN THE OPTHER BETS
<sundaystam> OTHER SORRY
<Janet> Hey, Phil.
<sundaystam> YOU'LL SEE WHY YOU NEED MORE IN A MINUTE!
<brenda> hey phil
<sundaystam> READY TO GO ON?
<brenda> i guess
<sundaystam> MORE CONFIDNECE BRNEDA!
<Janet> I think.
<brenda> lol
<Janet> I got my masks anyways.
<sundaystam> YOU TOO JA
<sundaystam> 2. STAMP ONE POSTAL IN THE CENTER (SLIGHTLY OFF CENTER) OF A PIECE OF LIGHT CARD STOCK.
<phil> Thanks Janet, the convention will be great
<Janet> thanks
<sundaystam> SEE THIS PART IS EASY!
<Janet> so far so good. :)
<cak> I can do off-center--easy.
<DeLise> Hello Everyone
<cak> http://home.rochester.rr.com/sundaystamper/Instructions.htm
<sundaystam> I'M ALWAYS OFF CENTER
<PitPlayer> hi DeLise
<PitPlayer> hi Phil
<cak> (site with instructions)
<Janet> (Hi, DeLise, we've made masks of our postals and stamped one in the middle, just starting step 2)
<sundaystam> READY?
<sundaystam> . NOW PLACE YOUR OPEN CENTERED "MASK" OVER THE POSTAL (AT THIS POINT YOU MAY WANT TO USE THE TEMPORARY GLUE STICK TO HELP HOLD THE MASK IN PLACE) AND INK UP ONE OF THE ART STAMPS AND STAMP IN THE OPEN SPACE.
<phil> hi
<Janet> this is a stamp that isn't a postal?
<sundaystam> DRAG OUT THEM COLLAGE STAMPS EVEYONE
PitPlayer just bought more today :)
<sundaystam> THE POSTAL STAMP SHOULD HAVE NO IMAGE INSIDE
<sundaystam> I USUALLY CALL THE OTHERS WITH AN IMAGE POSTOIDS
<sundaystam> THIS WAY YOU CAN USE ANY STAMPS YOU ALL READY HAVE
<sundaystam> LIKE KRISTY'S OR RED CASTLE....
<sundaystam> JUST TO NAME A FEW
<sundaystam> IMAGE THIRD COAST'S NEW EVEDOMS IN THE STAMP AREA
<enchy> ty
<sundaystam> QUESTIONS?
<Janet> so far so good. :)
<CrowFeathe> clear to me so far . . .
<sundaystam> GOOD
<sundaystam> . REMOVE MASK.
<sundaystam> SEE NOW THAT'S REALLY EASY!
<sundaystam> 3. KNOW USE YOU SOLID MASK TO PLACE OVER THE POSTAL AND STAMP ANOTHER POSTAL OVER THE PREVIOUS ONE.
<CrowFeathe> by solid, do you mean a mask that has everything including the postal points along the edges?
<sundaystam> THIS MEANS TO COVER THE CENTER OF THE PREVIOUS POSTAL WITH A SOLID MASK
<CrowFeathe> just the center . . .?
<sundaystam> YES CR
<CrowFeathe> then wouldn't your next stamp show on the edges of your first one?
<sundaystam> NO THE WHOLE POSTAL YOU ALL READY DID
<CrowFeathe> when you stamp over it?
<sundaystam> THAT'S WHY WE'RE MASKING IT
<sundaystam> FUNNY THING IS IT DOESN'T SHOW THAT MUCH NEAR THE PERF SECTION
<DaisyDeb> hi
<CrowFeathe> oh . . . ok . . .
<sundaystam> HEY DAISY MISSED YOU TODAY
<DaisyDeb> sorry had to work
<sundaystam> :(
<cak> I had to look very carefully to see any overlap--
<cak> http://home.rochester.rr.com/sundaystamper/Instructions.htm
<sundaystam> OK NOW STAMP ANOTHER OPEN POSTAL PARTIALLY OVER THE MASKED ONE
<sundaystam> TY CAK
<cak> (no problem--everyone should see the beautiful result)
<sundaystam> HOW WE DOING?
<Janet> just wherever you feel like it?
<sundaystam> JSUT WHEREEVER JA
<Janet> okeys
<sundaystam> SORRY FINGERS GOING
<sundaystam> DEMOED AT STAMP STORE ALL DAY
<DaisyDeb> and i missed it but you will show me soon right
<sundaystam> OF COURSE
<DaisyDeb> xxxooooo good night
<sundaystam> THIS TIME YOU COME TO MY HOUSE
<sundaystam> OK READY EVERYONE?
<sundaystam> QUESTIONS?
<CrowFeathe> yep
<sundaystam> YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE SOLID MASK DOWN WHEN USING THE "OPEN" MASK SO THE NEW STAMPING DOESN'T OVER STAMP THE PREVIOUS POSTAL.
<sundaystam> EACH NEW POSTAL YOU STAMP OVER EVERY PREVIOUS ONE
<sundaystam> NEEDS A SOLID MASK
<sundaystam> UNDERSTAND?
<nancy> Where can I buy the open stamp frames?
<cak> Yep--that's why you do so many to begin with, right?
<sundaystam> YOU CAN DO AS MANY AS YOU WANT
<sundaystam> TIME TO STAMP HAS SOME
<sundaystam> PHIL WHAT ABOUT YOU?
<sundaystam> THAT'S RIGHT CAK!
<sundaystam> I GUESS PHIL DOESN'T
<DeLise> I can tell I'll need this stamp
<sundaystam> JA KNOW OF ANYONE ELSE?
<CrowFeathe> I think Jim stephens has some
<CrowFeathe> and viva las vegas
<sundaystam> THERE YA GO
<Janet> Seems like Third Coast does. I know several companies do. I KNOW Time to Stamp does because I make their web pages.
<phil> I only have one.
<sundaystam> AAS MAY HAVE IT TOO NOW THAT THEY'VE REOPENED
<sundaystam> WHAT TYPE PHIL?
<CrowFeathe> use third and time though, cause they are in the mall! support yer local mall folks!
<CrowFeathe> and red castle too then!
<Janet> and red castle, too!
<phil> It is a square one about 1.25 sq
<nancy> Red Castle is GRRRRReat!
<sundaystam> ISN'T AAS IN THE MALL JA?
<Janet> (on the Time To Stamp site, the postals are in the design elements part of the catalog)
<PitPlayer> I got mine from the mall :)
<phil> it is on the small Sand Pictures 42377
<Janet> They've dropped out for now, they'll be back!!
<sundaystam> GOOD
<sundaystam> 4. CONTINUE UNTIL THE CARD FRONT IS FILLED AS YOU WISH.
<CrowFeathe> haul em back in for the convention, janet!
<Janet> oooo and you all want all those sand pictures on the sheet, too. I love those.
<Janet> Done that, Jean. :)
<CrowFeathe> yayyy!
PitPlayer wants 'em, but has to get a job first :)
<sundaystam> I FEEL LIKE I'M LOOSING CONTROL HERE!!!LOL
<Janet> Oops. we slipped into shopping frenzy early.<g>
<CrowFeathe> oops, apologies sundaystamper
<Janet> Hey, Rhonda.
<PitPlayer> <g>
<rubbermous> Hello
<PitPlayer> hi rm
<sundaystam> 5. USING THE STIPPLE BRUSH, PLACE SOLID MASKS ONTO THE POSTALS AND STIPPLE AROUND TO SOFTEN THE BACKGROUND!
<Janet> Tell some about "stipple around" pretty please?
<rubbermous> what are we doing?
<cak> http://home.rochester.rr.com/sundaystamper/Instructions.htm
<sundaystam> USING A STIPPLE BRUSH (EVOLVING IMAGES)
<cak> (stamped postage collage)
<sundaystam> TAP ONTO DYE INK PAD
<phil> how do you keep the solid masks in place?
<rubbermous> oh cool...love postage
<sundaystam> i USE TEMP GLUE STICK PHIL
<sundaystam> I USE ADIRONDACK (ENCHANTED INK)
<CrowFeathe> doesn't some of the stipple get on the points of the edges of the stamp?
<Janet> (Yep, Evolving Images has great stipple brushes)
<CrowFeathe> on the paper i mean?
<sundaystam> AMAZINGLY NO cr
<sundaystam> OF COURSE i DON'T STIPPLE TOO MUCH EITHER
<CrowFeathe> is amazzzing-- can't wait to try it, thx sunday!
<sundaystam> JUST TO SOFTEN
<Janet> Jean, unless I'm really working at it, my stippling doesn't get that close to the masked off bits.
<sundaystam> YW CR
<CrowFeathe> oh i see, thx, janet!
<sundaystam> THEN TAP THE LOADED BRUSH AROUND THE CARD
<CrowFeathe> can one use pigment ink too?
<sundaystam> QUESTIONS?
<CrowFeathe> or instead?
<sundaystam> PIGMENT INK DRIES SLOWER
<CrowFeathe> oh, thx
<sundaystam> BUT I DON'T SEE WHY NOT!
<CrowFeathe> good, i have more colors in pigment
<sundaystam> TRY IT!
<CrowFeathe> k!
<sundaystam> I JUST LOVE THEM aDIRONDACK PADS
<embossinba> hello! happy bday sundaystamper!!
<sundaystam> TY HEATHER
<sundaystam> YOU CAN ALSO USE KALEIDACOLOR PADS
<CrowFeathe> adirondack's have great subtle and unusual colors
<sundaystam> I MAKE MY OWN RAINBOW PADS BY USING ADIORNDACK RE-INKERS
<CrowFeathe> look like artist-mixed
<nancy> Those soft colors that are used for shadow stamping would be good...
<sundaystam> ON UNFILLED KALEIDACOLOR PADS
<cak> Did you stipple the background of one of your postage stampes too (the close-up of the woman's face on the right)?
<Janet> I wonder. If you stamped and embossed the postal frame? it would be harder to get the inside stamped, but the stipple would resist going inside those embossed edges I bet.
<sundaystam> MEMORIES NANCY!
<sundaystam> IT WOULD ALMOST BE IMPOSSIBLE JA
<cak> You might have trouble with bumpy masks though--
<CrowFeathe> all my dye ink rainbows have run together, even tho in the fridge. sniff. but I do now
<CrowFeathe> have some great greens, browns and blues from that!
<sundaystam> THE MASKS JUST WOULDN'T HOLD
<sundaystam> YES CAK I DID STIPPLE A BIT WITH DIFFERENT COLORS INSIDE THE POSTALS
<sundaystam> 6. NOW TRIM ENTIRE CARD AND PLACE ON FOLDED OVER DARK CARD STOCK TO FINISH!
<cak> OK, just checkin'--didn't want to miss anything!
<sundaystam> †
<sundaystam> OK EVERYONE ALL SET?
<CrowFeathe> yep
<sundaystam> IMAGINE ALL THE STAMPS YOU CAN USE THAT YOU ALL READY HAVE...
<cak> It's a beautiful card with just little extra work--thanks Sunday (and still Happy Birthday)
<sundaystam> SORRY OHIL
<sundaystam> PHIL
<nancy> Great class, this was my first - Thanks!
<sundaystam> TY CAK
<sundaystam> YW NANCY

<sundaystam> TY ALICIA
<sundaystam> TY CR!
<Janet> I want it ALL!!!
<sundaystam> I LOVE YOU TOO JA!
<Janet> This is great. Sorry I was playing with mine. This looks way cool.
<phil> You can't use new stamps everytime you stamp, so sometimes you have to use the ones you all ready have
<rubbermous> nice samples sunday
<DeLise> Janet I'd like to have her other classes to, is that possible
<Janet> yes, and using your existing ones as postals, this is too cool!!!
<sundaystam> NITE ALL! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
<cak> You do?!? Why didn't someone tell me this before Phil?!
<CrowFeathe> i think seeing only part of an image is sooo cool
<Janet> Yep. I'll sic our super scheduler anno on her. Oops. I mean I'll have anno beg and grovel for more classes.
<PitPlayer> those new shadow stamps from Stampers Anonymous jumped into my basket today...they knew the "Rules of Acquisition" <ggg>
<nancy> Thanks again, goodnight everyone
<cak> Night Sunday. Rest those fingers
<Alicia> I didn't get a chance before, but Hello everybody!
<Janet> Hey, Alicia!
<CrowFeathe> neat pitplayer!
<PitPlayer> hi Alicia
<sundaystam> TRY THE BLACK PADS WITH THOSE PIT
<rubbermous> hello alicia
<sundaystam> THEY WORK BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE
<CrowFeathe> black?
<PitPlayer> black?
<DeLise> New shadow stamps?
<sundaystam> I DEMOED THOSE AT THE STORE TODAY!
<Janet> mine is really neat. I'm excited! (Phil, I grabbed up one of those LARGE botanicals, but just put the flower heads in the postal frames) too neat!!!
<DeLise> hi Alicia
<CrowFeathe> how would you see the image you stamp over it? or do you glue on an image?
<PitPlayer> but that's not a shadow then
<sundaystam> COLORBOX BLACKS
<PitPlayer> do you layer then?
<rubbermous> does anybody know much about powdered pearls?
<DeLise> differnt shades of black?
<sundaystam> IT IS IF YOU STAMP IT OFF ON SCRAP PAPER TWICE FIRST
<Alicia> LIke pearl-ex Rubbermouse?
<rubbermous> yeah
<sundaystam> THEN GO BACK IN AND TOUCH JUST THE EDGES ON THE PAD
<Alicia> I use it on polymer clay
<sundaystam> WAY KEWL
<PitPlayer> I don't have any powdered pearls yet
<Janet> I know some, Rhonda. I've really been playing with them lately
<rubbermous> I have used them with dove blender
Janet hears and hangs her head in shame. SHE has Pitplayers pearls here
<rubbermous> I just got mine in at the store
<PitPlayer> heh heh
<Alicia> How did it come out?
<Janet> I'm a dove blender failure. I paint like watercolors with them.
<rubbermous> can you believe it will be our 2nd anniversary in January...Janet?
<PitPlayer> went to a tag art class by Stamp in the Hand yesterday...spent lots of money at their booth today ;)
<Janet> wow, Rhonda.
<rubbermous> great with dove blender alicia
<PitPlayer> I like dove blender with my Fairie Dust
<Alicia> I'll have to try it.
<rubbermous> I have fairie dust also
<Janet> Okay. Someone tell me real slow how to use the Dove Blender with the powdered pigments.
<rubbermous> lots of colors
<Janet> I just make a mess
<PitPlayer> Janet, just dip it into the cover...more than enough powder
<Carole> I need to go. Good night, everyone.
<PitPlayer> I get too much if I dip it in the jar
<DeLise> http://crafts.dm.net/convention/981102pearls.html
<CrowFeathe> after you touch the edges of the shadow stamp with darker black, do you then use black to stamp your image on the lighter black middle-- or another color?
<DeLise> I got my first pearl ex powder last night and this helped alot
<PitPlayer> light black?
<Janet> okay.
<PitPlayer> I don't see how anything would show up on black
<rubbermous> anyone know about those halloweenie grams?
<Janet> I can tell how to paint with them. Or how to make really dramatic backgrounds with them.
<DeLise> Janet that's from the convention two years ago http://crafts.dm.net/convention/981102pearls.html
<PitPlayer> once you've dipped the blender in the cover a few times, just put the cover back on an shake it...you'll have more
<cak> So are you going to teach a pp background class Janet?
<Janet> I can do a couple ideas right now. And yeah, someone needs to do a pigment class for sure.
<Janet> My favorite, Nancy, now do this...
<Janet> get yer dark paper and stamp your cool image (can be real big and detailed, whatever you want) on there with just embossing ink
<PitPlayer> yes!
<PitPlayer> (I know this one) <g>
<Janet> and yeah, you can't even see the image.
<PitPlayer> Versamark works great for this!
<Janet> so get a nice soft brush and "paint" powder across the paper. YOWZER the image just pops right out at ya!
<PitPlayer> the interference colors are WONDERFUL!
<Janet> you can do a combo of different colors, or do just one color, or whatever floats your boat
<Janet> oh yeah, interference colors for a subtle background? awesome
<cak> Do you use a big brush for fast coverage?
<Janet> I do.
<cak> How much powder do you put on the brush (I always seem to get too much)?
<Alicia> like a blush brush?
<Janet> then I let it sit a minute, then use a kleenex to neaten it up. where the embossing ink is, the powder sticks.
<Alicia> I always put the cap on, shake the powder and tap into the cap
<Janet> Yep, a blush brush would be perfect.
<PitPlayer> works great on (can't think of the word-duh) "sticky transparencies" after stamping with Memories ink, too
<cak> Can you smear the powder on the embossing ink?
<Janet> Charlotte I just really pour it on.
<PitPlayer> or just take a stipple brush and brush off the excess
<cak> (Sounds like a good technique for me then!)
<Janet> if you really try you can, but just lightly buffing with a kleenex will get the excess off the paper but not smear the image
<PitPlayer> I just tap a tiny bit on...doesn't take much
<brenda> i tried this but used the versamark pad and it was awesome
<PitPlayer> I haven't had the stipple smear it and I can brush pretty hard
<Janet> Then after you love how it looks, spray a fixative on there.
<PitPlayer> definitely
<Janet> This looks totally awesome with background stamps (like those cool sand picture ones from red castle)
<Janet> or the stamp camp ones.
<Janet> or the writing ones from Time To Stamp
<PitPlayer> yes, and it's so quick and easy
<Janet> I love doing the writing ones, on white, with interference colors.
<brenda> yes i was surprised at how quick
<Janet> look at it one way, you can't see it. look another way and wow!
<PitPlayer> kewl!
<Janet> Then with an image stamped on top of that and painted with them.
<Janet> this really looks cool.
<PitPlayer> never thought of that!
<Janet> I love painting with these pigments.
<Janet> (but I haven't done the dove blender thing right yet, I'll keep trying)
<PitPlayer> I've only done it with the Dove blender
<cak> Painted with the powder as pigment in watercolor?
<Janet> I use 'em just like watercolors, yep.
<Janet> You can mix them with gum arabic and just paint away.
<Janet> OR you can just mix with water, then remember to spray it down with fixative later.
<cak> Have you done the floaty background or salt technique with these yet?
<Janet> or else it just wipes away. The gum arabic fixes it to the paper if you blend that in the paint mix first.
<Janet> It works!!
<PitPlayer> I haven't done that yet
<cak> So it doesn't "dilute" the color too much?
<Janet> I made one for Phil with flowers painted pretty solid this way, but a sky in the background that was salted. It turned out awesome.
<Janet> I impressed myself.<g>
<PitPlayer> <g>
<cak> As well you should!
<Janet> You can do watercolor washes with these just like with watercolors.
<brenda> ok now explain salt background please?
<Janet> I love these things.
<Janet> Oh brenda, this is way cool.
<Janet> Mix up a couple of colors of powdered pigments with the gum arabic and water so you've got "paint"...
<PitPlayer> I took a Radiant Pearls class last night, but I think I like the powders better
<brenda> ok
<Janet> then tape down your watercolor paper good, then get it real wet, then float on your different colors, they'll feather into each other and look way cool
<Janet> then...
<Janet> THEN...
<Janet> (this is the fun part)
<Janet> SALT THAT PUPPY!
<Janet> Not like you'd salt fries, just a bit of salt here and there.
<Janet> Where each grain of salt hits, it pulls up the pigments. So you end up with a flecked sky. Like a snow storm, or just a cool looking texture
<PitPlayer> kewl!
<Alicia> NEAT
<Janet> Let it dry without touching it at all, just leave the salt right on there.
<Janet> Then when it's bone dry, brush the salt off.
<brenda> table salt?
<CrowFeathe> janet, do they sell black or dark watercolor paper too?
<Janet> (do mix with the gum arabic first with this deal, or when you brush away your salt, you'll brush away your pigment powders, too)
<Janet> Jean, not that I've found, but a good heavy black matte finish? and don't use so much water? and tape it down good before you start? should be okay
<Janet> Brenda, table salt or any kind of salt.
<CrowFeathe> maybe mi tents paper?
<Janet> When I make card-sized deals, I use table salt or kosher salt. If I'm doing a big honkin canvas, I sometimes use rock salt.
<Janet> Hey, Ruth!
<brenda> ok
<brenda> ty janet
<tvlady> Hi, finally figured out how to get here
<Janet> and a lot of times I use different kinds of salt for different sizes of sparkles
<brenda> well i need to go to bed
<Janet> the cool part with this is that it's just magic, almost uncontrollable. Sometimes it makes crystal looking places, sometimes just white dots
<brenda> nite aqll
<Janet> Take care, Brenda.
<cak> Night bredna
<cak> uh, brenda
<brenda> bye
<Janet> I've always done that with watercolor, just lately tried it with the powdered pigments. And it works great!!
<Janet> I've gone metallic mad lately.<g>
<cak> Your gimme-glitter crow part coming out?
<PitPlayer> well, I'm gonna head out. Long day of convention shopping today! :) (and bank-account-emptying) <ggg>
<cak> (mine never goes away)
<cak> Night PitP
<PitPlayer> night all!
<Janet> LOL I think it is my crow side coming out for sure.
<CrowFeathe> nit pitplayer
<Janet> Take care, Nancy.
<CrowFeathe> er, nite
<cak> I've not been able to use them for painting, so I've been using them on lampworked beads--can be beautiful!
<CrowFeathe> hey don give us crows a bad name-- it's the magpies that like "shiny" yeah the magpies . . that's it, just the magpies . . .
<cak> Shiny-liking is a *good* trait!
<Janet> LOL Jean, you're right. Call me a Magpie.
<Janet> Or a raccoon.
<CrowFeathe> cak, what have you been usin' on the lampworked beads? metallic inks?
<cak> Powdered pigments
<cak> Since their mica, they work great (although you can't heat them too much or you'll burn 'em off)
<CrowFeathe> lol, i know what you mean, cak, i got the "shinys" myself-- my daughter teases me about how easily i'm distracted by anythin that glitters!
<cak> their = they're
<CrowFeathe> and what is the "lampworked" in lampworked beads?
<Alicia> Maybe worked over a lamp?
<cak> melting glass over an open flame (I presume used to be a lamp flame) to make beads
<CrowFeathe> mica beads? where does one find these?
<cak> uh, over is actually the wrong preposition--in is the proper one
<Alicia> yeah, in.
<Alicia> 'but that was a guess answer
<cak> I just use the mica powders to coat the bead
<Janet> do they sink into the melted glass?
<cak> No. Not that I've seen. I've covered them with transparent glass too (to protect them from the heat, but they stick and do just fine just on the surface
<cak> Night Phil--Have fun tomorrow
<Janet> take care, Phil. Thanks for being here!
