<RubberRabb> sheets and towels tOO absorbant

<beanjean> oh ok

<sundaystam> THEY WILL GIVE OFF FIBERS

<sundaystam> I WILL UPDATE ENTIRE CLASS AT THE END BUT WILL CONTINUE ON KNOW OK?

<cindycade> sounds good to me

<RubberRabb> yep

<cak> sounds good Sunday

<sundaystam> 5. NOW CAREFULLY UNFOLD AND TRANSFER TO A COUPLE OF CLEAN SHEETS OF NEWSPRINT IN A FLIP FLOP METHOD. (DON'T THROW OUT YOUR FIRST NEWSPRINT, ALLOW IT TO DRY IT MAKES GREAT WRAPPING PAPER OR BACKGROUNDS).

<Debby> unfold?

<sundaystam> YOU SHOULKD HAVE FOLDED

<sundaystam> THE NEWSPRINT OVER THE BATIK PIECE

<sundaystam> YOU HAVE MADE

<sundaystam> NOW UNFOLD IT AND

<Janet> folded our mulberry paper? or the newsprint on top of it?

<sundaystam> FLIP IT ONTO THE WAITING NEWSPRINT

<RubberRabb> newsprint, mulberry paper, newsprint sandwich

<cindycade> yup step four

<sundaystam> FOLDED THE NEWSPRINT WITH THE MULBERRY IN BETWEEN

<RubberRabb> take off the top slice and slap the mulberry paper onto a fresh newsprint slice..

<sundaystam> NOW DO THAT AGAIN WITH THE FRESH NEWSPRINT

<cak> Just repeat the folding/blotting?

<cindycade> yes

<sundaystam> GOT AWFUL QUIET???

<sundaystam> 6. FOLD THIS NEWSPRINT OVER AND WITH A MEDIUM TO HOT IRON PRESS ABOUT ONE MINUTE. CAREFULLY BEGIN TO LIFT OFF THE NEWSPRINT. IT MAY STICK, IF SO THEN PUT THE NEWSPRINT DOWN AND HEAT THAT AREA UNTIL IT RELEASES WHEN YOU LIFT IT UP.

<star> so are you just blotting and reblotting the mulberry/

<sundaystam> NO

<sundaystam> WHEN YOU START USING THE IRON YOU ARE

<RubberRabb> so we're ironing our newsprint/mulberry paper/newsprint sandwich?

<sundaystam> REMOVING THE EMBOSSED AREAS

<sundaystam> YES RR

<RubberRabb> ah!! melting out the ep like we would if it was wax

<Janet> ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

<RubberRabb> gotcha!!

<deb> ahhh ha!!!

<cak> Sunday, when you fold the newprint over this time (step 6), do you fold the mulberry paper also?

<sundaystam> WHEN IT RELEASES YOU HAVE ACHEIVED WHAT YOU WANTED

Janet is blinded by the lightbulb going off

<cindycade> makes sense to me....

<sundaystam> no

<beanjean> wow

<Debby> wow

<RubberRabb> hic

<beanjean> yes

cindycade always wanted to see someone epiphanate.....

<sundaystam> 7. THE PAPER WILL STICK BECAUSE YOU ARE REMOVING THE POWDER FROM THE MULBERRY PAPER WHEN YOU HEAT IT. THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT NOT TO MOVE THE PAPER JUST KEEP HEATING UNTIL IT COMES OFF THE NEWSPRINT.

<sundaystam> i MAY REPEAT BUT IT'S THE WAY i TEACH....

<beanjean> oh great hint

<sundaystam> EVERYTHING IS SET UP AND HAVE TO GO IN OREDR!

<RubberRabb> wool

<sundaystam> THAT BE THE ONLY WAY CINDY

<star> ok , I will

<BrendaC> ty rr

<sundaystam> I DON'T EITHER BRENDA

<sundaystam> I SAID MED HOT

<RubberRabb> or between wool and cotton

<sundaystam> CUS EACH IRON IS DIFFERENT

<sundaystam> DON'T WANT TO SCORCH

<RubberRabb> depends on your iron--obviously NO steam!!

<sundaystam> BUT NEED TO HEAT THAT POWDER

<sundaystam> START ON MED

<cindycade> bought me a good old one for crafting.. that baby gets real hot! and no holes either..

<BrendaC> is one layer of newsprint enough to keep the ep off the iron?

<sundaystam> IF IT ISN'T WORKING GO UP A NOTCH

<sundaystam> NO

<sundaystam> BRENDA

<sundaystam> TWO OR THREE SHEETS

<BrendaC> ty

<sundaystam> AND MAKE SURE YOU DO IT ON CARD BOARD

<sundaystam> DON'T WANT ANY RUINED TANBLES

<sundaystam> TABLES

<RubberRabb> ok--was wondering about that! I've seen how much melted ep can spread..

<BrendaC> lol that would be what i do

<cindycade> hmmm my mind just went in the gutter....

<sundaystam> THATS IT BACK TO TWO FINGER TYPING

<RubberRabb> lol

<RubberRabb> but which two fingers

<Janet> lol

RubberRabbit grinning

<cindycade> oh its ok... with my hubby... grin

<sundaystam> READY????

<cindycade> yup

<YamaANDkat> yes

<sundaystam> 8. THAT'S YOUR BATIK PAPER. YOU WILL FIND THAT IT WILL SHOW UP BEST WHEN PLACED ON A SHEET OF WHITE CARDSTOCK. I DO THIS BY XYRONING MY CARD STOCK THEN PLACING THE PAPER OVER IT AND SMOOTHING OUT WITH A BONE FOLDER.

<RubberRabb> very very cool, Sunday

<sundaystam> YOU CAN ALSO COLOR THE EDGE OF

<sundaystam> THE CARD STOCK

<sundaystam> BY RUNNING A MARKER

<sundaystam> THE SAME COLOR

<sundaystam> AS THE BATIK

<Janet> So some how it gets the shades of reinkers like your sample has? isn't just stark white resisted?

<cindycade> i will give this class a whirl. specially since i have so many jars of my budget inks made uplol

<sundaystam> AROUND THE EDGE

<Sandy> How did you get the shading over the batiked area

<sundaystam> TAKES THE SHARP WHITENESS OFF

<Janet> yeah, what Sandy asked.

<sundaystam> SHADING SANDY????????????

<beanjean> sunday what colors of reinkers did you use?

<Sandy> The colors blend

<Sandy> There isn't a sharp edge

<sundaystam> BEANIE WHAT'S THE URL?

<beanjean> http://crafts.dm.net/mall/class.html

<RubberRabb> in your sample, sunday, what color reinkers did you use?

<RubberRabb> it's gorgeous

<Janet> yeah. your hollies aren't stark white, they have nice subtle shadings

<sundaystam> OK

<sundaystam> FIRST THE SHADING

<sundaystam> IT'S WHERE YOU SMEAR OUT THE RE INKERS WITH THE BRUSH AND WATER

<sundaystam> WHERE YOU DROPPED

<sundaystam> THE REINKER IT'S DARKER

<sundaystam> WHERE YOU WATER IT OUT

<sundaystam> IT'S LIGHTER

<cindycade> it is the epicenter..... grin

<RubberRabb> ok, I understand

<sundaystam> THEY WILL ALWAYS SHOW SOME COLOR

<sundaystam> HEY MC!

<beanjean> http://crafts.dm.net/mall/class.html

<Sandy> so you could use a blender to move the color out?

<sundaystam> COLORS I USED..

<sundaystam> UMMMMMMMMMMMMM

<sundaystam> PESTO

<sundaystam> AND CRANBERRY

<sundaystam> BY ADIRONDACK

<beanjean> beautiful colors sunday

<sundaystam> I LOVE THEM ADIRONDACK!!!!!

<stamp> This is gonna be fun! Unless I burn those two fingers!

RubberRabbit is just hooked on inks..

<sundaystam> YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET THE REINKERS THERE TOO!

<RubberRabb> all kinds and colors and companies..LOL

<brenda> yep EI has the reinkers too

<sundaystam> OK NOW i'M GONNA REPEAT THE WHOLE THING READY???

<stamp> yeap

<RubberRabb> sure!

<deb> yep

<deb> I wanna try this

<sundaystam> 1. EMBOSS ON MULBERRY PAPER USING SOLID STAMP, RESIST PAD, CLEAR EMBOSSING POWDER AND HEAT TOOL JUST UNTIL IMAGE IS CLEAR.

<Janet> iwbr

<RubberRabb> as long as Janet doesn't epiphany again..

<sundaystam> 2. PLACE ON ONE SIDE OF NEWSPRINT AND SPRITZ WITH WATER UNTIL IT'S SOAKED BUT NOT DRIPPY.

<Janet> lol

<sundaystam> 3. DROP RE-INKER OF ONE COLOR IS SEVERAL PLACES. USING BRUSH DRIBBLE MORE WATER ON TO SPREAD THE COLOR, BUT LEAVE SOME PLACES AVAILABLE FOR MORE COLOR. CLEAN THE BRUSH. NOW DROP ANOTHER COLOR AND REPEAT WITH THE BRUSH FROM A CLEAR CUP OF WATER. I ALSO ADDED DANIEL SMITH METALLIC PALE GOLD WATERCOLOR TO MINE.

<sundaystam> 4. FOLD NEWSPRINT OVER AND PRESS AND LEAVE FOR FEW SECONDS.
