<Madkapkid>very nice samples.....

<MaggieB>thought we were doing pads

<MaggieB>???

<anno>yeah.. original teacher's computer is down.

<MaggieB>oh no

<anno>this is all last minute thrown together!

<MaggieB>such is cyber life

<MaggieB>k

<anno>thank you brenda!!

<MaggieB>so what are we doing tonight?

<brenda>ready tex

<brenda>hey magenta

<Magenta>hello

<enchy>hey magenta

<enchy>how are you?

<Magenta>ok

<enchy>dreary enough for you?

<enchy>janine?

<enchy>hey honey

<brenda>hey janine

[about 3 minutes missing--got dumped]

<MaggieB>oh this is going to be a fun night i can tell

<brendab>it is

<MaggieB>teacher flying in and out

<brendab>YEP AS USUAL

<MaggieB>someone hand her some halos hook quick!

<Jessica>lol

Magenta offers Brenda some duct tape

<Jessica>speaking of halos hook.....

<beanjean1>hi Jess!

<brendab>OK THIS ISNT A COMPLETED PROJECT

<MaggieB>you do have problems with that brenda

<MaggieB>k

<Jessica>my friend found out she liked the kai's....

<MaggieB>shhhhh

<beanjean1>sorry window problems :(

<beanjean1>hi everyone

<Jessica>yes maam...sitting on hands now

<MaggieB>lol

<brendab>IT IS SOME IDEAS I WAS WORKING ON FOR NEXT CONVENTION BUT I NEEDED A SUBJECT FOR TONIGHT

<cak>Looks like a pretty good start on a project though brenda

<brendab>SO DECIDED TO GO WITH IT

<brendab>TY CAK

<brendab>READY TEX IS A PAINT

<brendab>AND ON ACETATE IT IS AWESOME

<cowpost>hi

<beanjean1>is there a URL?

<brendab>EVEN FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WITH NO ARTISTIC ABILITIES

<cak>no beading up on the plastics?

<brendab>IT TURNS OUT SOME REALLY NEAT PROJECTS

<Cheri>http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/readytex.html

<brendab>NO CAK

<brendab>http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/readytex.html

<Jessica>hmmm

<brendab>IT PAINTS REAL SMOOTH

<cowpost>is this meegan's class?

<Jessica>better than acrylics?

<MaggieB>but it has sandy stuff in it?

<Jessica>no cowpost...meegan's computer is down

<anno>meegan is having computer problems so we got a whole new class!!!

<brendab>THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS THE SKIN COLOR AND IT WAS MY BRUSH CAUSING THE PROBLEMS

<anno>spontaneous brenda class!

<cowpost>oh--what's this one?

<brendab>IF YOU WILL LOOK AT THE ENCHANTEDINK IMAGE ON THE WHITE BACK GROUND

<enchy>it is acrylics with sand in it jessica

<brendab>AND THEN LOOK AT THE TIME TO STAMP FEMME

<anno>we're learning ready tex and acetate stuff!

<Jessica>ready tex cowpost

<brendab>YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE

<Jessica>cool enchy

<brendab>THE ENCHANTED ONE THE SKIN WAS NOT AS SMOOTH

<brendab>BUT WHEN I USED A DIFFERENT TYPE OF BRUSH IT JUST MADE A WORLD OF DOFFERENCE

<enchy>that is very cool how you did that on acetate so that background showed through brenda

<enchy>very very cool

<beanjean1>wow

<beanjean1>VERY COOL brenda

<brendab>IT DRIES EXTREME3LY FAST ON THE ACETATE

<brendab>TY ENCHY

<Magenta>what is it you are painting with?

<cowpost1>i got disconnected.

<brendab>THE READY TEX IS COOL ENCHY

<enchy>i have some brenda

<enchy>the company sent me some to test

<brendab>READY TEX PAINT MAGENTA

<MaggieB>so can you tell us what it is like to work with? gritty?

<Magenta>where do you get it?

<brendab>HAVE YOU TRIED IT ON ACETATE ENCHY?

<Cheri>http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/readytex.html

<brendab>MAGGIE IT IS SMOOTH

<brendab>FLOWS EASY

<anno>oh. I have one bottle too!

Magenta makes a mental note>something she doesn't have

<anno>is either red or yellow....

<brendab>RUBBER ART SELLS IT IN THE MALL

<Jessica>you can get it from rubber art..giggle's store

<Madkapkid>comes in some great colors

<Guest_905>I have a bunch of ready tex courtesy of Besty and Rubberarts.

<brendab>IT PAINTS GOOD ON CLAY,SHRINK PLASTIC

<cak>I presume you can mix your own colors too?

<GigglesGla>Brenda did you try the color extender to smooth out the face on your one card?

<brendab>CHARMS

<MaggieB>but yours look mottled, marbled....

<brendab>NO I DIDNT HAVE ANY GIGGLES

<GigglesGla>Well, can't have that now can we?

<brendab>THAT IS ONE I NEED TO ORDER

<cowpost1>i have never seen it here.

<Jessica>no idea cak if you can mix your own colors

<Madkapkid>after Linda showed me the extender...ITS a must!!!!

<GigglesGla>Brenda is absolutely right about using a better brush though.

<brendab>BUT THE BRUSH DID MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE ON THE ACETATE

<Jessica>cowpost...try www.rubberart.com

<MaggieB>so brenda.... tell us do about using it!

<MaggieB>please!

<cowpost1>are there samples of finished projects?

<cak>does the extender increase the open time for the paint?

<MaggieB>http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/readytex.html

<brendab>CAK GIGGLES CAN ANSWER THAT BETTER THAN I CAN

<brendab>I HAVENT TRIED

<GigglesGla>About mixing them?

<cak>(sorry, I'm just full of questions tonight)

<brendab>YES GIGGLES

<GigglesGla>You can mix every single one of the 70 colors without getting mud.

<MaggieB>70 colors???

<MaggieB>wow

<Jessica>wow is right

<brendab>WOW I DIDNT KNOW THAT

<cowpost1>is it just for acetate?

<MaggieB>so on these backgrounds that are marbled....... how did you do that??

<brendab>I ONLY HAVE A FEW OF THE COLORS

<Madkapkid>NO...its great on paper, plastic.....you name it.....LOL

<brendab>CLAY,METAL

<GigglesGla>I will be happy to share about marbeling with them when Brenda is finished with her class.

<brendab>GO AHEAD GIGGLES

<RobinR>When using on metal, do you have to sand first?

<brendab>I WANNA KNOW TOO

<brendab>LOL

<MaggieB>who did the samples?

<brendab>NOT ON CHARMS YOU DONT ROBIN

<Guest_905>i gotta order more i don't have 70.

<cowpost1>lol

<GigglesGla>Ok, take a very small shallow pan that an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of typing paper can fit in and fill it with water.

<brendab>THE FEMME AND ENCHANTED INK SAMPLE I DID

<MaggieB>so who did the cards with the marbled backgrounds?

<brendab>GIGGLES

<Cheri>http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/readytex.html

<MaggieB>k giggles... following you...

<GigglesGla>Now cut a very small piece of cardstock and place it in the water.

<MaggieB>very small?

<GigglesGla>Don't ask why this works because I'm horrible at science.

<MaggieB>like how little?

<GigglesGla>On that piece of card stock floating in the water add a drop of three different colors of Ready Tex paint.

<MaggieB>is this like a little 2 x 2 piece?

<GigglesGla>then spritz the water with alcohol and watch the paint spin in the water causing the color to float on top.

<MaggieB>or bigger?

<Magenta>what kind of alcohol?

<GigglesGla>Very cheap alcohol.

<MaggieB>how little is this piece of cardstock??

<Magenta>isopropal

<MaggieB>rubbing alcohol?

<Guest_905>gin

<GigglesGla>You can blow the colors around with a straw or mix them with a toothpick. Put your paper in the water and let it

<keribou>who sells that paint?

<cak>the boku undo kit for suminigashi uses about 1/4 inch circle for adding ink, about that size Giggles?

<GigglesGla>float on the top. Then take it out and put it on a paper towel to dry.

<MaggieB>is the piece of cardstock itty bitty or bigger?

<MaggieB>1/4 inch??

<MaggieB>that little?

<GigglesGla>TThe piece of card stock is no bigger than an inch square!

<Cheri>Rubber Art in the mall

<MaggieB>wow really little

<MaggieB>k

<MaggieB>ty

<cak>that's just for the Boku Undo kit--

<cak>I was just wondering if it was the same size

<GigglesGla>Now you can also experiment with your reinkers. I did find that if you don't add the acohol to the water that the colors of the rinkers sink to the bottom.

<MaggieB>so we are putting 3 drops of ready tex paint on what sized piece of cardstock?

<linda>sorry...got booted

<GigglesGla>You are putting the drops on the little piece of card stock.

<MaggieB>like a 1/2" square piece??

<MaggieB>how little?

<brendab>I AM GOING TO HAVE TO TRY THIS

<GigglesGla>Very little no bigger than an inch!

<MaggieB>k

<MaggieB>ty

<GigglesGla>It is really fun just to experiement!

<MaggieB>and just spritz with alcohel

<brendab>TY GIGGLES

<MaggieB>and then what?

<brendab>NEAT

<GigglesGla>You are welcome!

<MaggieB>dip the paper into it?

<MaggieB>???

<RobinR>If you use Tria inks would you add alcohol?

<GigglesGla>Just put your paper so it is sitting right on top of the water and leave it for just a few seconds.

<MaggieB>we now have paint in paper right?

<MaggieB>paint in water i meant

<GigglesGla>No you don't have to with the Tria or the Ink Its.

<GigglesGla>Yes the paper soaks up the paint in the design it made in the water.

<MaggieB>ok

<MaggieB>ty giggles

<GigglesGla>You are welcome!

<Madkapkid>okay....question..for clarification

<Madkapkid>ONE tiny paper has the inks in it in hte water....and then add alcohol

<GigglesGla>Yes and you will be surprised how that alcohol swirls that piece of paper around the water.

<MaggieB>did you spray the paper or the water with the alcohol

<Madkapkid>then....do we dip another piece of paper into the water to collect the ink patterns from the paper??

<GigglesGla>I just spritz the water where the paper was.

<MaggieB>what about the little piece of paper.......??

<MaggieB>where did it go?

<GigglesGla>Yes you then dip your 8 1/2 x 11 piece of typing paper into the water.

<Madkapkid>there you go.....there are 2 pieces of paper. ONE with the ink on it...and ONE that we want to get the marble effect

<GigglesGla>You can reuse the piece of paper over and over. You can take it out before you put your paper in or leave it there. You couldn't see it on my design anyway.

<MaggieB>how fast do you have to be?

<MaggieB>doesn't the paint want to sink?

<GigglesGla>It will eventually but it does stay on the top long enough for you to get a copy of sheets done.

<MaggieB>did you clean in between designs?

<GigglesGla>Rmember you are only use a drop of three colors. This isn't a lot of paint.

<MaggieB>with newsprint?

<MaggieB>or just do another on top of the first?

<Madkapkid>is this one of those things where less is best?

<GigglesGla>Yes I did dump my water between because I do think that eventually you won't have a design showing.

<GigglesGla>Once that paint sinks there is no color on the top of the water.

<GigglesGla>Yes Karen, less is much better.

<MaggieB>could you skim with newsprint you think?

<MaggieB>like traditional marbling?

<alsoanno>how weird.

<GigglesGla>Maggie you will have to try it. I was just experimenting so this is what was accomplished.

alsoanno went ::poof::

<MaggieB>ty giggles

<MaggieB>great tips

<Madkapkid>Thanks for sharing Linda.... :)

<anno>pew.

<cak>Can these paints be thinned? and if so, with what? water?

<MaggieB>so brenda......... what did you find painting with the ready tex?

<GigglesGla>You are welcome....we do this at your house next so you have to clean up! LOL!

<anno>(aidan is carving soap at my feet)

<MaggieB>tips?

<anno>(is aromatic)

<MaggieB>k giggles

<MaggieB>anytime

<BRENDA>well the brush makes a big difference was about the only problem i had

<GigglesGla>You can thin these paints with water, medium, and let me tell you they are unbelievable as watercolors using your water bushes!

<anno>so what brush do I need?

<MaggieB>so which brush worked?

<GigglesGla>ooops brushes!

anno goes out to water the bushes

<BRENDA>i had a good watercolor brush

<MaggieB>brenda could you go to caps please?

<cak>thanks--so they can be thinned to tranlucency? transparency?

<MaggieB>and that worked better?

<BRENDA>YEP SORRY

<GigglesGla>If you are going to paint....invest in a good brush. The cheaper the brush the more brush hairs you are going to pick out of your art work.

<BRENDA>YES

paperpusher thinks that this is yet another thing she needs

<MaggieB>and can these mix with glazes?

<BRENDA>YOU ARE RIGHT GIGGLES

[the logger was dropped here for a bit]

<GigglesGla>Roz Finnigan designed that card and we made it into the store front.

<anno>I might rather kiss a snake onna lips than a dog.

<BRENDA>WB CAK

<enchy>all the snakes i know are sweet

MaggieB congratulates giggles on a very cool storefront

<Jessica>lol anno

<enchy>but i only know two peronally

<GigglesGla>thank you!

<enchy>so my experience is limited

<Guest_905>guess kissing dogs and cats is better then repub**************

<MomCat>Brenda, may I say a word about color?

<enchy>yes

<cak>(thanks, dm just wasn't very welcoming)

<Jessica>lol linda

<BRENDA>YES MOMCAT

<enchy>yes i think so

<anno>actually.. I'm thinkin' mebbe I would definitely rather kiss a snake onna lips than a dog.

<enchy>snakes don't lick their parts like dogs do

<GigglesGla>Ewwww!

<MomCat>WHEN WE DID THE COLOR WHEEL

<anno>do snakes have parts?

<enchy>yes

<BRENDA>YES

<anno>oh gawd..

<Jessica>bleech...and I'm eating ice cream.....

<enchy>everything has PARTS

<anno>you should see the parts on a rhinocerous..

<anno>geezle..

<enchy>no i don't want to anno

<enchy>thanks

<MomCat>WE TALKED ABOUT COMPLIMENTS SUCH AS RED AND GREEN GRAYING EACH OTHER OUT

<enchy>but i'm a single girl

<anno>the things you see at the zoo you had no intention of seeing..

<Jessica>lol

<BRENDA>YES?

<MomCat>THIS IS ILLUSTRATED IN THE BOTTOM PICTURE

<MaggieB>giggles? Dr Martin makes Ready Tex?

<Guest_905>wonder if repub************* lick their parts

<enchy>only if they can reach them

<MomCat>WITH THE RED FLOWERS ON THE GREEN BACKGROUND.

<GigglesGla>Yes Dr. Martin is Ready Tex.

<anno>depends how flexible they are I guess.

<BRENDA>LOL

<BRENDA>OK

<BRENDA>I DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO GET THESE OK'D BEFORE I USED THEM

<enchy>but now my puppies are sleeping sweetly

<BRENDA>SO I CANT TELL

<enchy>so i would kiss them

<Jessica>re's bj

<MomCat>Brenda, they look fine

<beanjean1>thanks

<MomCat>they just illustrate a point

<BRENDA>SO THE RED LOOKS GREY?

<BRENDA>OH OK

<anno>one of my cats is missing.. but it's the non-escaping cat, so I'm sure she's around here somewhere.

<MomCat>no, but it looks less bright

<BRENDA>OH OK

<Guest_905>doing a rain dance BJ?

<MaggieB>hey giggles? you have my cat's sister sitting in a box on the paint page!

<BRENDA>I COULD TELL THAT

<GigglesGla>What?

<beanjean1>lol guest 905

<BRENDA>KNEW SOMETHING WASNT WORKING

<GigglesGla>Maggie which of the cats is that?

<MomCat>Works fine

<BRENDA>BUT ANOTHER COLOR WOULD MAYBE HAVE DONE BETTER

<MaggieB>i dont know it says Did anyone order this package?

<MaggieB>under her

<MomCat>Depends on what you want

<GigglesGla>LOL! Has to be Tinker!

<MaggieB>red and green should bounce off of each other

<MaggieB>and enhance each other

<MomCat>if you want it subdued this is the right thing to do

<MaggieB>not the opposite

<MomCat>it's mostly because the red is translucent so the green and yellow affect it more

<BRENDA>YES THE RED IS VERY TRANSLUCENT

<enchy>giggles - scooter weighs 18 pounds now - he is full grown

<anno>what are we lookin' at now?

<GigglesGla>Yikes!

<enchy>lol

<enchy>he wrestles with the great dane

<enchy>they are buddies

<GigglesGla>You need a tow truck to take him to the Vet! LOL!

<BRENDA>ANY QUESTIONS???????/

<anno>you have a great dane?

<enchy>irie is great dane/lab

<enchy>she was spose to be a pomeranian

<enchy>but i goofed

<anno>I just can't get over how you fooled us with that wallpaper, brenda!

<anno>rofl!

<BRENDA>TY ANNO

<Jessica>nope brenda...but I think you did a superb job

<anno>that's a fairly radical goof.

<GigglesGla>I think you were wonderful Brenda~!

<enchy>i like that idea for using wallpaper

<enchy>i have a TON of it here

<enchy>i will have to check it out again

<RobinR>Thanks Brenda and Giggles for a great class

<MaggieB>super class

<beanjean1>what did I miss about wallpaper?

beanjean1 has lots too

<MomCat>You did a great job Brenda!!

<MaggieB>that brenda is a cheater bean

<cak>(I was gonna ask the same thing bj)

<enchy>i went to buy a pom anno - and irie needed rescuing - so she is what i came home with

<MaggieB>we all thought she did primo stuff with paint

<BRENDA>BJ THE BOTTOM TWO PICTURES

<anno>she took her painted acetatte things and plopped 'em on wallpaper and we thought she'd done fancy stipple backgrounds or something!

<BRENDA>THE BACKGROUNDS ARE WALLPAPER

<MomCat>Giggles, thanks for the marbling info.

<MaggieB>and here we were looking at the wallpaper

<anno>acetate I mean.

<anno>sheesh.

<enchy>same with zeke - i went to buy a sheltie and he needed rescuing so i brough him home

<beanjean1>oh THAT was wallpaper??????

<anno>I can spell when I wanna and am paying attention.

<beanjean1>oh my GOSH

<beanjean1>what a great idea

<MaggieB>yeah she fessed up

<anno>isn't it?

<Jessica>lol

<MaggieB>lol

<anno>sheesh!

<anno>that was worth the price of the class by itself!

<Jessica>hi rabbit

<cak>just showing us how to be efficient

<enchy>i like it very much when i learn something new in class

<Jessica>did ya get kicked too rabbit?

<beanjean1>me TOO

<RubberRabb>sheesh--booted and couldn't get back in!!

<enchy>hi bunny

<Jessica>me too enchy

<RubberRabb>just cause I was shopping

enchy hops over to hug rr

<Jessica>all of us did rabbit

<BRENDA>THIS WAS AS GOOD AS THAT CLASS WHERE EVERYONE WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE STARFISH

<Jessica>we all got booted at the same time

RubberRabbit hugs enchy

<RubberRabb>and I missed it!!

enchy gives rr some sweet lil carrots to nibble

<RubberRabb>what did I miss??

<beanjean1>hi RR

<beanjean1>wallpaper tip

<RubberRabbit nibbles the carrots

<anno>starfosj

<anno>ack.

<anno>starfish?

<beanjean1>cool samples....brenda outdid herself

<anno>(getting your hand on the right keys to start is a help too)

<BRENDA>cak the only thing i did was stamp with zim ink on acetate

<enchy>hi snakey mom

<BRENDA>then paint with ready tex

<enchy>i loove a little zim ink

<enchy>it is my favo

<SnakeMom>Hi, Enchy

<cak>sounds easy!

<BRENDA>then laid the pictures on the wallpaper

<cak>(wish my results would be as lovely)

<BRENDA>i amm going to xyron them to put them on

anno needs some zim ink.

<BRENDA>the wallpaper gives the result

<enchy>zim ink is a good thing anno

<BRENDA>with the ready tex

<enchy>it is THE BEST for shrink plastic

<BRENDA>i could not live with out my zim ink

anno needs some white zim ink then.

<enchy>the only thing is it is sooo toxic

<anno>I mostly got black shrink.

<RubberRabb>oo those ARE pretty Brenda!

<anno>toxic?

<enchy>they have metallic

<BRENDA>ty RR

<RobinR>Brenda, could you paint on cold laminate

<beanjean1>Zim Ink rules, and you NEED the cleaner

<BRENDA>i have copper and gold zim

<BRENDA>and black

<enchy>the cleaner is a MUST

<RubberRabb>you used zim ink on acetate?

<RubberRabb>cool

<BRENDA>with the ready tex yes

<enchy>yes

<RubberRabb>what is ready tex? she asked dumbly

<anno>so I need zim inks, and a inkpad for each one? and cleaner?

<BRENDA>it is a paint RR

<Jessica>acrylic paints with sand in it

<RubberRabb>ok I know what that stuff is

<Jessica>put out by rubber art aka giggles glaser

<BRENDA>awesome paint

<anno>ready tex is acrylic paint with sand in it?

<enchy>yes anno - i get the empty pads from jim s

<MaggieB>is there really sand in it?

<Jessica>cool tip enchy

<RubberRabb>or you can make your own pad from cut n dry

<BRENDA>anno i just know it is fantastic paint

<RubberRabb>and keep it in a baggie

<enchy>i love cut n dry

<anno>where'd this sand info come from?

<enchy>i love it love it love it

<MaggieB>that wouldn't be very archival

<Jessica>thats true rr I didn't think of that

<enchy>you know

<anno>oh.

<BRENDA>enchy i think was the one told us about it

<enchy>we were talking about archival at artfest

<Jessica>grounded sand anno from the beach?

<enchy>and how we love old stuff cuz it is old looking

<enchy>and if all we use is archival stuff

<Jessica>lol

anno is confuzzzzled.

<enchy>our stuff will never look old?

<RubberRabb>well zim ink dries out so fast, it sometimes ruins pads

<enchy>it is texture sand

<anno>in the paint?

<MaggieB>texture sand?

<enchy>i don't think it is exactly beach sand

<RubberRabb>easier to cut a bit of cut n dry and then toss it

<enchy>i don't know

<anno>this is sandy paint?

<BRENDA>i just reink the same dried out pad RR

<enchy>i know when i sperimented with it

<enchy>it was just like a duncan product that i demo

<BRENDA>you cant tell there is sand

<enchy>but it had smaller grit of texture in it

<BRENDA>it is smooth

<anno>which is sandy paint?

<enchy>no

<RubberRabb>I did that too for a long time but they get really stiff after a while

<enchy>it is very very smooth

<enchy>but the sand stuff is what helps it adhear to plastic

<anno>oh.

<anno>ok.

<RubberRabb>that tex paint doesn't feel gritty--not like stair paint

<enchy>and gives it such opaque qualities

<enchy>no

<enchy>stair paint is different

<RubberRabb>it just helps it stick to slick surfaces

<anno reconsiders her plan to tote her applebarrel paints out to the sandbox.

<enchy>yes

<enchy>well you could do that anno

<Jessica>lol

<enchy>but it would be different

<enchy>i add stuff to my regular acrylics all the time

<enchy>powdered pearls

<RubberRabbit wants to watch anno get sand stuck all over her paint

<enchy>lil beads

<Jessica>lol

<enchy>grit

<enchy>CLEAN cat litter

<RubberRabb>pawprints

<enchy>gives you dif textures

<RubberRabb>dog hair

<enchy>yes

<anno>if I tote my paints out to the sandbox odds are they're gonna wind up fulla fireants and spiders.
