<kat> hi janet

Janet huffs and puffs as she runs into the room

<kat> slow down janet

<MaggieB> hi janet

<MaggieB> yeah slow down

<Vyx> hi Janet

<Janet> just ran into the house, we'd gone out for a celebratory meal

<MaggieB> you only logged out an hour ago!

<MaggieB> where the heck did you get such quick service???

<Vyx> I know, Charlotte, just couldn't figure out how to tell where they are now.

<Janet> Chiquitas.

<MaggieB> well they sure are fast!

<MaggieB> and so are you!

<Janet> Vyx, did you just put them in the web site in the root directory? I know how to fix that now.

<Janet> they are quick. and delicious

<Janet> puff taco, guac and cheese enchiladas and this green garlic sauce that has a fancy name that I just love

<cak> how about searching for jpg (or whatever extentions you've used to for graphics)and/or / to find url and change em?

<Vyx> no, I found my directory... and have so many picture files I wanted a new one, so created it, moved all...

<Janet> just nip in with notepad and change the directory name

<Vyx> but what the heck do I put in there for the img src=?

<kat> I think I need a computer class!!!!!!! LOL

<Janet> like img src="/images/filename.gif"

<Vyx> ah! ah! I have the \ instead of /

<MaggieB> they learned all that in the last html class kat

<Janet> you just have to put the directory in there and it's front slashes instead of back ones

<MaggieB> janet says she will teach it again sometime

<Janet> so did everybody do their homework?

<MaggieB> i told her in the dead of winter

<MaggieB> YES

<Vyx> Right, I wasn't here for the html classes.

<Janet> Maggie did you show yours off yet?

<MaggieB> no

<Vyx> Nope, I got hung up trying to fix my web pages.

<Janet> Well, show it off!!

<MaggieB> and i now have it in the new site

<Janet> woo hoo!!

<MaggieB> http://www.dm.net/~maggieb/box.html

<MaggieB> i am just starting to transfer them

<Janet> and you tweaked that background some too

<kat> when do you think you'll be done

<MaggieB> yes lightened it some

<Owen> No

<MaggieB> done?

<MaggieB> me?

<MaggieB> tonight i hope

<kat> yes maggie

<MaggieB> and if you go back to that page

<MaggieB> you will just follow links

<Vyx> wow look at that!

<Janet> So you all can see Maggie's homework, the fountain fills and the outline on her letters. And the changing of the fonts and all.

<MaggieB> and spirals!

<Janet> AND the spiral!

<Janet> LOL

<MaggieB> heh heh

<MaggieB> fun getting it just right

<MaggieB> flowing into the F

<Vyx> That is just great, Maggie

<MaggieB> ty

<MaggieB> fun

<Janet> did you combine those?

<MaggieB> it is one graphic

<MaggieB> a gif

<Janet> or stack them?

<MaggieB> so transparent

<MaggieB> i didnt know how to stack

<MaggieB> they are one

<MaggieB> so they could be close enough

<MaggieB> the way i wanted it

<Janet> no, in corel, did you stack the spiral behind the letter or did you combine the spiral plus the letter and then use the nodes to glue 'em together?

<Janet> (because playing with nodes is on our agenda tonight)

<MaggieB> the spiral is pushed back

<MaggieB> it is two lines of text

<MaggieB> with a spiral

<Janet> okay!

<MaggieB> and i told it to put the spiral to the back

<Janet> Well, everybody got Corel open?

<MaggieB> yep

<Janet> Type three lines of like three words each, doesn't matter what font.

<kat> yep

<MaggieB> ok

<Janet> (cak, just saw where corel has released v 10 for the mac, just thought you'd wanna know<g>)

<cak> (I've been eyeing it--believe me)

<Janet> when you get that done, click the shape tool. which is the one under the arrow, the arrow head looking one

<Janet> (i just got corel 10 today, already having fun playing with stuff)

<MaggieB> janet is there any you DONT have???

<MaggieB> no fair

<MaggieB> i would settle for 8

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> hiya deb

<Vyx> hi deb

deb sneaks in and sit in the back

<Janet> (open corel, type three lines of like three words each)

<deb> OH hi janet

<Janet> (quick catch up<g>)

<Janet> LOL

<deb> ok hold on

<kat> hi deb

<Janet> and I KNOW you all remember which one is the shaper tool.

<MaggieB> yes the second one down that took me FOREWVER to find the 1st night

<Janet> so after you have the three lines typed, click the shape tool and then click on your words

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> that's the one!

<Janet> looks like a line and a line pusher pointer or something. looks like a carat on its side to me

<deb> ok - 3 lines typed

<MaggieB> its just weird

<deb> um shape

<deb> shape

<deb> um

<Janet> okay. when you click on your text, see the funky looking arrows at the side and at the bottom?

<Vyx> yep

<Janet> you can drag those to make your lines closer or farther apart, and the letters closer or farther apart

<MaggieB> only + signs here

<Janet> so play with that and see how that works

<Janet> maggie, click your text with your shape tool

<deb> cool

<MaggieB> i did

<Janet> and you'll get sort of fancy looking arrows, but just one underneath and just one on the side

<deb> it worked

<deb> LOL I redid it cause I thought I screwed it up -

<deb> but I didn't

<deb> I'm so impressed with myself

<Janet> now you can control where the extra space is going in the text...

<MaggieB> you mean the tool that makes all the little blocks >

<Vyx> wow, totally lost any spacing from the space bar.

<kat> Thats what I have too

<MaggieB> dont have arrows

<deb> yeah it has little boxes underneath it

<kat> Me neither

<deb> the shape tool was the 3rd one on the left

<deb> looks like someone doing side stretches

<MaggieB> not here

<MaggieB> not in select

<deb> with arms out and reaching down toward their knee

<deb> it's on my left hand tool bar

<deb> try F10

<deb> it says F10 next to it too

<deb> Shape Tool F10

<MaggieB> all i get are like fancy + signs

<MaggieB> at either side of the bottom

<Janet> if you hold down the control key when you pull it apart, the spaces go between the letters

<Janet> if you hold down the shift key as you drag out the side pointing arrow, the space goes between the words

<Janet> if you don't hold down nothing, the spaces are going pretty equal in both

<MaggieB> i can pull these + signs

<deb> cool

<MaggieB> but there arent any arrows

<Janet> maybe yours looks like plus signs

<Janet> try it and see if it changes the word and line spacing

<MaggieB> yes kat those do it

<MaggieB> they are both on the bottom

<MaggieB> the left one is vertical

<deb> mine spread both out and down

<MaggieB> and the right one does across

<kat> My lettering is so small I can't read it. On 24pt.

<Janet> so are you playing, holding down control or holding down shift as you drag?

<Janet> zoom in to it, kat

<Janet> click the magnifying glass, then look at the tool bar and there's some choices..

<Janet> and one looks like objects with the little handles on them, click that and it will zoom to whatever you have selected

<MaggieB> or just click on it kat and make them big by dragging it

<Vyx> had to magnify mine, then it's hard to get the tools to work right.

<MaggieB> i just dragged it bigger

<MaggieB> and yes, the + signs are the same

<MaggieB> shift and control work too

<Janet> (remind me after shape tool to talk about the different view choices)

<MaggieB> k

<Janet> so is this cool? can you think of different uses for it?

<Vyx> Yeah, sometimes the spacing ain't what you want.

<MaggieB> when you want to fill something?

<MaggieB> all the way up?

<MaggieB> or just make it fit

<MaggieB> a shape

<Janet> yeah, when the spacing looks funky (some fonts look more spread or more bunched than you want)

<MaggieB> maybe?

<Janet> yeah, or to make it fill a shape

<MaggieB> but you have to do them all at once?

<MaggieB> like that?

<MaggieB> if shape is uneven...

<MaggieB> like a circle

<Janet> and sometimes you dont' want to stretch out your font to fill, sometimes you want to adjust the spacing

<cak> when you want to mimic the word by it physicality (like make "breadth" really broad)

<Janet> yeah.

<Janet> or like S L O W L Y

<deb> hold on

<deb> I had to step away

<Janet> or fast (all bunched up)

deb scross back

<MaggieB> janet could you put on your caps please?

<deb> -ss +ll

<Janet> okeys

<MaggieB> ty

<MaggieB> heh heh

<Janet> YOU PROBABLY HAVE PLAYED ENOUGH WITH YOUR SIZER HANDLES SO YOU KNOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR TEXT TALLER OR FATTER OR WHATEVER, AND THAT WORKS TO ADJUST IT TO FIT A SHAPE, TOO

<Janet> BUT THERE'S A LIMIT TO HOW MUCH YOU WANNA SMASH YOUR LETTERS

<Janet> HI, HARRISON

<^Harrison^> Hi Janet

<Janet> AND YOU CAN VISUALLY ADJUST THE SPACING WITH THE SHAPE TOOL, USING IT ON THE TEXT

<deb> ok - I even found a type

<deb> err typo

<deb> hello

<deb> am I here

<Janet> IN TYPE LINGO THIS IS CALLED KERNING (SORTA KINDA, THERE'S SLIGHT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN KERNING AND LETTER SPACING)

<MaggieB> yes deb

<MaggieB> that is all kerning is???

<deb> ok

<Janet> BUT NEXT TIME SOMEONE SAYS TO ADJUST THE KERNING, NOW YOU KNOW.

<MaggieB> makes it sound so official

<Janet> YES, YOU CAN SOUND LIKE A PRO. THROW WORDS LIKE KERNING AROUND

<MaggieB> heh heh

<Janet> NOW LET'S REALLY GET DOWN WITH OUR SHAPE TOOL...

<deb> ok - kerning

<deb> get down tonight

deb rocks

<Janet> UNDER THE "ARRANGE" MENU THERE'S A CHOICE "CONVERT TO CURVES"

<Janet> LOL

<deb> roflol

<Janet> NOW ONCE YOU CONVERT TEXT TO CURVES, YOUR TIME FOR EDITING THE WORDS OR THE FONT, IT IS OVER

<deb> I HAVE converted to cerves

<MaggieB> oh no

<MaggieB> what did that do???

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> BUT NOW WHEN YOU CLICK ON YOUR TEXT?

<deb> hold it

<Janet> YOU GET ALL THE CURVE NODES SHOWING UP!

<Janet> AND YOU CAN MUCK WITH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF 'EM

<deb> wait

<deb> ok - arrange

<MaggieB> yeah bunches of squares

<Janet> EACH ONE OF THOSE LIL SQUARES IS A NODE

<cak> so it just changes the text to individual graphics, right?

<Janet> YEP

<deb> um I don't see anything

<Janet> CHANGES IT TO LINES, AND THE COMPUTER FORGETS IT WAS EVER TEXT

<Janet> IT IS NOW CURVES

<deb> except my D now has a horizontal line on it

<MaggieB> but i cant see

<MaggieB> it is all weird

<MaggieB> too many

<MaggieB> or something

<Janet> DEB, CLICK ON IT WITH THE SHAPPER TOOL

<Vyx> egads!

<deb> ok hold on

<Janet> LOTS OF LIL BOXES SHOW UP ONCE YOU "CONVERT TO CURVES"

<Vyx> turned an S into statue of liberty spikes.

<Janet> (NOW FOR THE GET DOWN PART... GRAB ONE OF THE LIL BOXES AND DRAG IT SOMEWHERE)

<MaggieB> click with shape tool first

<deb> ok - I have an open box

<MaggieB> right?

<Janet> YEP

<deb> I didn't have lots of boxes

<Janet> THIS IS ALL WITH THE SHAPE TOOL

<deb> hold on

<Janet> DEB YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE TEXT SELECTED BEFORE YOU PICK CONVERT TO CURVES

<Vyx> wow, this is fun, but what use is it?

<deb> I thought I did

<deb> now how do I reselect it?

<Janet> VYX, SUPPOSE YOU HAVE A NICE V ONLY YOU WANT THE TOP OF IT TO SWASH OVER THE Y MORE?

<MaggieB> wait selected first with shape tool?

<MaggieB> or pointer?

<Janet> YOU CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THAT V TO SWASH OVER OTHER LETTERS, JUST BY DRAGGING THE LIL BOXES OVER WHERE YOU WANT THEM

<MaggieB> and then click on arrange convert to curve

<MaggieB> ???

<Janet> YOU CAN ALSO SHAPE THE LINES IN BETWEEN THE NODES WITH YOUR SHAPE TOOL

<qkdeb> II can't keep up, I'm either too tired or too dense

<qkdeb> probably litle of each

<Janet> DOESN'T MATTER, MAGGIE, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE YOUR TEXT SELECTED

<deb> janet come over here and show me

<MaggieB> ok

<qkdeb> going to bed, thanks for the class Janet

<deb> how do I reselect janet

<Janet> OKAY, WITH WHATEVER TOOL YOU HAVE, CLICK YOUR TEXT

<Janet> TAKE CARE QKDEB

<qkdeb> 'nite all

<MaggieB> but then i have to use the shape tool to pull the nodes?

<MaggieB> night deb

<Janet> (WE'LL PLAY MORE WITH NODES NEXT WEEK TOO)

<kat> I'm not having much luch tonite either

<deb> I have a pointer

<deb> it won't go away

<Janet> I'M PROBABLY MOVING TOO FAST

<MaggieB> do i then click with shape tool?

<kat> I'm not having much luck tonite either

<deb> I did good till we have to curve

<MaggieB> no, click with pointer, arrange, convert to curves

<Janet> DEB, YOU HAVE YOUR TEXT SELECTED WHERE YOU HAVE THE HANDLE BARS , RIGHT?

<deb> jaent

<MaggieB> and then click with shape tool janet?

<deb> I can't get it to select the text

<deb> I just have the black filled in arrow

<Janet> WHEN YOU HAVE IT WHERE THE HANDLEBARS ARE SHOWING.. GO UNDER THE ARRANGE MENU AND PICK CONVERT TO CURVES

<MaggieB> the text disappears

<Janet> OHHHHH

<MaggieB> behind a bunch of scribble

<deb> no handlebars

<Janet> DEB, HIT YOUR SPACE BAR, SEE WHAT HAPPENS

<MaggieB> janet how can i see through the scribbles?

<deb> now I have a square with those weird arrows on the corners

<MaggieB> it looks like hieroglyphics

<MaggieB> lol

<deb> right before my first letter

<Janet> USUALLY WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING, IF YOU HIT YOUR SPACEBAR, IT CHANGES WHATEVER TOOL YOU'D BEEN USING TO THE POINTER TOOL

<MaggieB> oh good to know!

<deb> ok - let me try again

<Janet> AND TO CHANGE YOUR VIEW?

<deb> now I have arrows that look like fish bones

<MaggieB> so what do i do with the scribbled mess?

<Janet> USUALLY WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING WITH NODES? YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR VIEW BE "WIREFRAME"

<MaggieB> is it because too much?

<Janet> WHICH TAKES YOUR FILL OUT OF IT AND JUST LEAVES THE LINES

<deb> ok - I have wireframe

<MaggieB> oh thats why the same

<MaggieB> i just had lines anyhow

<MaggieB> but janet

<deb> with a blank ssquare before the first letter

<deb> err hollow

<MaggieB> there is just a bunch of scribble

<MaggieB> there is so much

<Janet> BUT REMEMBER, IF YOU'RE IN WIREFRAME VIEW, YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR COLORS AND WIDTH OF LINE AND ALL AND NONE OF IT WILL SHOW UP UNTIL YOU CHANGE BACK TO NORMAL VIEW

<deb> OH OH OH

<deb> now the whole text is selected

<deb> yippie

<Vyx> yikes, now I have just a bunch of boxes to grab

<Janet> MAGGIE, JUNK THAT AND DO SOMETHING IN LIKE ARIAL FONT. SOMETHING WITH A LOT LESS LINES IN IT.

<deb> oh but now I can't convert to curves

<Janet> YOUR INITIAL CAPS HAVE A LOT OF SCROLLWORK TO IT

<MaggieB> i just used whatever was first in the font list

<Janet> DEB, I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT WOULD GRAY OUT. YOU HAVE JUST ONE OBJECT SELECTED, RIGHT?

<Janet> (YOU CAN ONLY CONVERT TO CURVES ONE OBJECT AT A TIME I THINK)

<kat> That's what i did too maggie

<deb> no I have all the text selected

<Vyx> heh, I'm just using whatever was in there... AvantGuarde

<deb> OH

<Janet> YEAH AVANTGARDE IS A GOOD CHOICE. SIMPLE AND WON'T HAVE SO MANY NODES TO IT

<Vyx> It's what popped in there, I never changed the font for this.

<deb> I hae the blank box with the arrow with lines underneath it before my first letter

<Janet> THAT'S USUALLY THE DEFAULT ONE.

<Janet> OKAY DEB! NOW HIT THE SPACE BAR AND YOU SHOULD FLIP BACK TO THE POINTER TOOL...

<MaggieB> wow still lots of junk

<MaggieB> whew

<Janet> AND YOU'LL HAVE THE HANDLEBARS SHOWING NOW, AND NOW YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CONVERT TO CURVES

<deb> damn

<MaggieB> it just pulls it

<Janet> TELL YA WHAT. THROW AWAY THAT TEXT AND LET'S DRAW A SQUARE (THIS WILL BE EASIER)

<deb> the area before the letter is getting bigger but not the letter?

<deb> sorry janet

<Janet> (AND ONCE YOU SEE HOW TO PLAY WITH NODES IN THAT, THEN IT'S THE SAME STUFF WITH TEXT)

<MaggieB> i think i know its just hard to seee

<Janet> YEAH, BLOW THAT OFF, DELETE IT OR SOMETHING...

<Janet> AND LET'S DRAW A SQUARE

<MaggieB> okay a square

<kat> I got that one. lol

<MaggieB> lol

<MaggieB> lol

<deb> ok - I drew a wiggled square

<Janet> YAY! SQUARES!

<kat> how did you do that deb

<Janet> NOW FIRST A COOL TRICK...

<MaggieB> how can you wiggle a square?

<deb> with that freehand tool

<deb> well the lines aren't straight

<MaggieB> k

<Janet> CLICK THE SQUARE WITH THE SHAPER TOOL...

<MaggieB> tricks

<MaggieB> love tricks

<Janet> AND IT NOW HAS BLACK BOXES ON THE CORNERS

<Janet> RIGHT?

<Vyx> I just did a square with the square tool.

<deb> yes

<MaggieB> make a square with the square tool?

<Janet> GRAB ONE OF THOSE BLACK SQUARES ON THE CORNERS...

<Vyx> Oh, interesting... if you drag the corner in, it changes the corners to rounds

<Janet> AND PULL IT UP ALONG THE SIDE OF THE SQUARE

<Janet> AND YES!

<Janet> YOU GET ROUNDED CORNERS

<Janet> YOU PULL IT FAR ENOUGH AND YOU'LL HAVE A CIRCLE (OR OVAL)

<MaggieB> huh?

<Janet> JUST DO IT, MAGGIE. TRUST ME. :)

<MaggieB> oh the shaper tool

<MaggieB> where did you say shaper tool?

<MaggieB> i didnt' know what to use

<deb> I have a boomerang

<MaggieB> yikes

<deb> lol

<Janet> LOL WHEN YOU WERE DRAWING YOUR SQUARE PROLLY

<MaggieB> probably

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> IF YOU'D DRAWN A CIRCLE?

<MaggieB> shaper tool does a lot

<MaggieB> yes?

<Janet> AND THEN USED THE SHAPER TOOL ON THAT?

<MaggieB> yes?

<Janet> IT EITHER MAKES A PIE IWTH A PIECE OUT OF IT?

<Janet> OR A CRESCENT

<Janet> DEPENDING ON WHICH SIDE OF THE LINE YOU'RE PULLING ON

<MaggieB> make a circle with the oval tool??

<MaggieB> no circle here

<deb> NOW i got a cicrle

<kat> We only have one black square maggieb

<Janet> YEP, MAKE A CIRCLE WITH THE OVAL TOOL AND THEN CLICK IT WITH THE SHAPE TOOL AND PLAY WITH THAT

<deb> maggie grab the square right on the corner

<deb> not the outside boxes

<deb> the inside box closest to the corner

<MaggieB> pac man!

<MaggieB> lol

<MaggieB> i got em janet

<MaggieB> ty

<Janet> THE CIRCLE WILL ONLY HAVE ONE BLACK BOX, SO YOU GRAB THAT AND PULL IT ALONG THE LINE OF THE CIRCLE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS

<deb> lol

<Janet> IS THAT FUN??

<Janet> NOW THIS IS THE SAME CONCEPT AS TEXT...THE COMPUTER SEES IT AS AN OVAL OR A RECTANGLE...

<deb> now I'm rounded corner squares again

<MaggieB> oh my gosh, this software has ssooo much to learn!

<Janet> BUT WHEN YOU HAVE IT SELECTED? YOU CAN "CONVERT TO CURVES" THAT ONE TOO

<kat> That is fun Janet. I finally got something

<Janet> AND THEN YOU CAN PLAY WITH THE NODES OF IT

<Janet> YAY KAT!!

<deb> still don't get that curves thing

<Janet> ONCE YOU CONVERT AN OVAL OR RECTANGLE TO CURVES, YOU CAN NO LONGER DO THESE TRICKS, THE COMPUTER DOESN'T SEE IT AS THAT SPECIFIC SHAPE ANYMORE, BUT NOW SEES IT AS AN OBJECT WITH X NUMBER OF NODES

<Janet> DEB, USE YOUR POINTER TOOL TO SELECT YOUR SHAPE...

<Janet> THEN TYPE CONTROL-Q

<Janet> AND IT WILL CONVERT TO CURVES

<deb> ok

<deb> now I have boxes again

<Janet> (CONTROL-Q IS THE KEYBOARD SHORTCUT TO THE MENU OPTION )

<deb> I love keyboard short cuts

<Janet> ME TOO.

<Janet> I ALWAYS FORGET WHICH MENU WHAT I WANT IS UNDER

<deb> I hate mouse work

<kat> hard on the wrist deb

<Janet> I HATE HOUSE WORK

<kat> Me too Janet

<deb> lol

<Janet> LOL

<deb> mouse house

<deb> they are all bad

<kat> so right deb

<Janet> LOOK, BEFORE NEXT WEEK I'LL HAVE A EXAMPLE PAGE, IT WILL BE EASIER TO SEE IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO LOOK AT...

<MaggieB> but janet

<MaggieB> how come

<deb> yeah!!

<Janet> LET'S SPEND OUR LAST FEW MINUTES LEARNING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT VIEWS

<MaggieB> if i draw a square

<deb> well -janet - not next week

<deb> we have convention

<kat> I think I finally got it

<deb> OH

<deb> wait

<MaggieB> and go to arrange conver to curves

<deb> I'm in convention mode

<deb> nevermind

<MaggieB> then when i pull on it they go all over

<Janet> LOL DEB. BUT WRITE DOWN EVERYBODY, ON OCT 9 NO COREL CLASS UNLESS YOU ALL WANT TO MEET AND PLAY AROUND WITH EACH OTHER

<Vyx> still a month to convention, right/

<Janet> I AM TAKING A ONE DAY VACATION THAT DAY

<MaggieB> where you goign janet?

<MaggieB> somewhre fun?

<Janet> LAS VEGAS. JUST FOR TWO DAYS, ONE NIGHT

<kat> Maggie, after I converted to curves, I hit the shaper tool.

<Janet> AND I AM NOT TAKING THE COMPUTER!!!

<Vyx> wow, neat

<MaggieB> fun janet

<deb> damn I wanna go

<Janet> YEAH, MAGGIE, AFTER YOU CONVERT TO CURVES, THEN HIT THE SHAPER TOOL TO SEE THE NODES SHOW UP

<deb> ok - let me CHECK my schedule janet

<Vyx> win lots of money on slots

<Janet> YOUR HOMEWORK IS TO DO THIS WITH TEXT, WITH SHAPES, WITH ANYTHING AND PLAY AROUND WITH THE NODES

<MaggieB> i did

<MaggieB> ok

<deb> whoa my box went squirrely on jme

<kat> I have the funkiest shape I've seen yet

<deb> lol

<deb> me too

<cak> save 'em!

<Janet> YOU'LL SEE THAT THEY HAVE FUNKY HANDLE THINGIES, LIKE HANDLEBARS SORT OF, THEY CAN REALLY GO OUTTA CONTROL ON YA

<Vyx> I keep deleting and starting over, don't like the results.

<Janet> IT'S FUN

<deb> that's an understatement

<Janet> BUT QUICKLY ABOUT THE VIEWS!

<deb> outta control like - real fast

<Vyx> Okay, we need to learn about the views!

<kat> Now that I know what I'm doing, it is fun

<Janet> THE VIEW TOOL IS THE MAGNIFYING GLASS ONE

<MaggieB> oh yeah views

<Janet> WHEN YOU CLICK THAT THEN LOOK UP AT THE TOOL BAR, YOU SEE NEW STUFF....

<kat> I still haven't found the magnifying glass

<Vyx> oh my, a hand.

<Janet> SHOULD BE RIGHT UNDER THE SHAPE TOOL, KAT

<MaggieB> me either kat

<Janet> UP ON THE TOOLBAR...

<MaggieB> oh there

<kat> thank you janet. Hope I can remember that one.

<MaggieB> i was looking on top

<Janet> YOU SEE A + GLASS, A - GLASS, OTHER STUFF

<deb> click on the ZOOM tool

<Janet> LOL

<Vyx> lots of goodies

<deb> then you will see the magnifying glass

<Janet> THE ZOOM ONES YOU'RE PROBABLY FAMILIAR WITH

<MaggieB> all we got is a hand and a glass

<Janet> BUT THE ONE AFTER THE PLUS AND MINUS, IT WILL ZOOM RIGHT ON WHATEVER OBJECT YOU HAVE SELECTED AT THE TIME

<Janet> VERY HANDY

<deb> the glass is a zoom

<deb> yeah + is bigger

<deb> - is smaller

<deb> > )

<kat> you have a new tool bar on top maggie

<Vyx> I like the hand. can grab your picture and shove it over to one side.

<Janet> THE ONE NEXT TO THAT WILL ZOOM IN ON ALL THE OBJECTS YOU HAVE DRAWN

<MaggieB> whats the hand???

<Janet> LOL

<deb> it grabs

<deb> think of it as male

<Janet> THE HAND IS UNDER THE MAGNIFYING GLASS ON THE SIDE TOOLBAR

<MaggieB> i dont have a minus

<Janet> AND YEAH, IT'S A MALE HAND

<deb> lol

<MaggieB> no our hand is with the maginifying glass

<Janet> MAGGIE, THE + AND - IS UP AT THE TOP, AFTER YOU SELECT THE MAGNIFYING GLASS

<MaggieB> oh, ok

<MaggieB> zoom in

<Janet> (OR THE HAND)

<MaggieB> zoom out

<MaggieB> i see now

<MaggieB> ty

<Janet> ONE OF 'EM SHOWS THE WHOLE PAPER

<deb> I actually have all kinds of magnifying glases now

<Vyx> I use right click for lots of stuff, including zoom in and out

<Janet> ONE SHOWS IT WITHOUT ANYTHING, LIKE A FULL SCREEN VIEW

<Vyx> hi scout

<Janet> TO GET OUT OF THE FULL SCREEN VIEW, HIT ESCAPE

<deb> hi scout

<deb> we are just finishing up

<Janet> GO PLAY! DO HOMEWORK! SEE YA NEXT WEEK!
