<AFKraven> 'ello
<kat> I haven't gotten anything done. Too many late night chats at cyberstampers
<Lea> if this gets too scary, I am spliting
<Janet> (raven, I need to give you an address too, bless your lil heart)
<AFKraven> yep! I gottem ready to go
<cak> Just so you know, it'll be a little scary, Lea. But it's a very good intro for when you get to play on your own time
<Janet> So I already heard Vyx admit she didn't do her homework. Who else didn't?<g>
<cak> Me (what else is new), but I got my first logic test tomorrow
<Vyx> When did I say that? Yesterday? :)
<Janet> that's okay Lea, it won't be scary.
<MaggieBafk> i forget what we were supposed to do.... play with curves?
<kat> me. To many late night chats at cyberstampers
<Janet> you did your homework, Vyx?
<Janet> oh, that was Kat. LOL
<Vyx> I forgot what we were supposed to do, too. And I can't remember how to change individual letters.
<MaggieBafk> i made a new logo.....
<Janet> oh let's see, Maggie
<MaggieBafk> k
<MaggieBafk> hold on
<Janet> there's a screen capture page at http://www.cyberstampers.com/corel/shape.html
<Lea> I thought you were splitting, Maggie
<MaggieBafk> http://maggieb.netfirms.com/
<Vyx> Maggie is probably the only one who did her homework AND remembers how to do stuff.
<Janet> ooo coool. You did pattern fill on those.
<MaggieBafk> i picked the texture because it looks like quilting/collage
<Lea> Teacher's pet
<MaggieBafk> yes
<Janet> LOL
<MaggieBafk> and i wanted it simple
<MaggieBafk> but graphic
<Lea> <snort>
<MaggieBafk> not frilly
<MaggieBafk> snort?
<MaggieBafk> lol
<Vyx> wow, great!
<Lea> is this the kinda class where we're not supposed to talk? Tell me now
<Janet> snort
<MaggieBafk> and
<Janet> unless you're canadian, then it's <snourt>
<MaggieBafk> the letters were too spread out
<MaggieBafk> so i used that thingy
<Janet> Naw, you can talk, Lea. We have fun in here.
<MaggieBafk> to make them closer together
<Janet> But do open Corel and arrange it side by side with your chat window.
<Vyx> Which I can't remember to do. ARGH
<MaggieBafk> dragged then a little more together
<MaggieBafk> the shape tool vyx
<Janet> I'll do shaper text refresher first then. :)
<Vyx> shape tool! huh
<AFKraven> Okay I got sidetracked... but Maggie, your suncatchers are a delight!
<Janet> Tell me when y'all are all arranged.
<MaggieBafk> that is sidetracked!
<MaggieBafk> lol
AFKraven will shut back up and pay attention now :-)
<MaggieBafk> lol
<Janet> (but they are, way cool suncatchers)
<MaggieBafk> ty raven
<kat> I'm ready. I finally figured out zoom.
<MaggieBafk> ready
<MaggieBafk> blank page
<Janet> YAY KAT!!
<MaggieBafk> and mirc
<Janet> I'LL EVEN PUT ON THE CAPS
<kat> that too maggie
<MaggieBafk> oh ty janet
<Vyx> oh yay
<Janet> (BUT IN 54 MINUTES I'M TOSSING 'EM AT MAGGIEB)
<MaggieBafk> huh?
<Lea> cos why?
<kat> i'm ready for that too
<MaggieBafk> no way janet
<Janet> REFRESHER ON USING THE SHAPE TOOL WITH TEXT...
<MaggieBafk> oh the caps
<MaggieBafk> duh
<Janet> SELECT YOUR TEXT THAT YOU ALREADY TYPED, THEN PICK THE SHAPER TOOL
<kat> maggie, are you there?
MaggieBafk shuts up
<MaggieBafk> yes here
<Janet> AND YOU GET THE LIL ARROWS (OR PLUS SIGNS) AND YOU CAN DRAG THEM DOWN OR OVER (OR BOTH) AND GET MORE SPACE IN BETWEEN YOUR LETTERS, OR YOUR WORDS
<MaggieB> because my caps and lower case were two different fonts....
<Janet> AND ON THAT SCREEN CAPTURE PAGE, I DID THE REFRESHER ON USING THE SHAPE TOOL WITH AN OVAL.
<MaggieB> they were too spread apart... that is why i used that shaper tool spacer
<Janet> YEAH, A LOT OF TIMES YOU HAVE TO MESS WITH THE SPACING WHEN YOU CHANGE THE FONTS MID WORD
<MaggieB> well the lower case font is a demo
<MaggieB> and they dont give you the caps
<MaggieB> <g>
<Janet> THEY WANT YOUR MONEY.
<MaggieB> yes they do
<Vyx> For FONTS? There's a gazillion free ones out there.
<Janet> AND AFTER YOU GET TO LOVING THE FONT, YOU'LL PAY IT TO GET THE REST OF THE CHARACTERS
<MaggieB> but a lot are just demos
<Janet> YEAH, BUT THE ONES I WANT ARE ALWAYS FOR PAY ONES
<MaggieB> not all the stuff
<Vyx> huh
<MaggieB> especially the calligraphy ones
<MaggieB> all $$$$
<MaggieB> sometimes they wont give you punctuation
<MaggieB> or capitals
<Janet> SO REMEMBER LAST WEEK, IF YOU DREW A CIRCLE/OVAL? THEN CLICKED IT WITH THE SHAPER TOOL, YOU COULD MAKE A PAC MAN OR A LINE (UNFILLED?)
<MaggieB> yes......
<Lea> I finally figured out how to put you and corel up on the same page! See, I told you I was too stupid to do this, teacher
<cak> yep
<Janet> AND IF YOU DRAGGED THE ONE NODE THE OTHER DIRECTION YOU GET A PIE WEDGE OR AN ARC?
<MaggieB> lol lea
<Janet> YOU'RE DOING GOOD, LEA
<Lea> sure
<MaggieB> yeppers
<Janet> (TOOK US ABOUT HALF THE FIRST CLASS FOR THE GROUP TO GET THAT FAR)
<Janet> (REALLY)
<MaggieB> she isnt kidding lea
<Janet> SO YOU'RE ALREADY 20 MINUTES SMARTER THAN THE COLLECTIVE GROUP
<Lea> I'm scrolling back to see what you said
<MaggieB> remedial corel draw
<cak> that's us!
<Janet> LOL
<Lea> where may I ask is the shaper tool?
<Janet> THAT'S THE FUNKY LOOKING ONE UNDER THE ARROW
<Janet> LOOKS LIKE AN ARROW HEAD STICKING A LINE IN THE BUTT
<cak> lol
<Lea> ok
<Lea> I see it
<cak> (git along little doggie)
<Lea> so I type something on the page?
<Janet> OKAY. NOW YOU'RE EVEN WITH THE GROUP!
<Janet> ACTUALLY EVERYBODY DRAW A CIRCLE/OVAL AND A SQUARE/RECTANGLE
<Janet> I DON'T CARE IF THEY'RE A CIRCLE OR OVAL, OR SQUARE OR RECTANGLE, YOUR PROPORTIONS ARE YOUR BUSINESS
<Janet> BUT DRAW ONE OF EACH
<MaggieB> k
<Janet> WE ARE =NODE EDITING= TONIGHT!
<cak> overlapping OK?
<Janet> YOU CAN OVERLAP 'EM OR NOT, YOUR CHOICE
<Janet> BUT AFTER WE PLAY WITH OUR NODES, WE'RE GOING TO COMBINE THEM
<Janet> FILL THEM DIFFERENT COLORS, TOO
<Vyx> so throw away this really odd looking swirl that I ended up with.. okay
<Lea> Aieeeeeeeee! No can do, Mommy! I am just gonna sit here and play with my nodes
<Janet> LOL
<MaggieB> lol
<Janet> (THERE GOES LEA, PLAYIN WIF HERSELF AGAIN)
<Lea> see you smartie pants later!!!
<MaggieB> janet, this our lea the juror?
<MaggieB> ohhhhhh
<Janet> THAT'S THE ONE
<MaggieB> shoot
<Janet> SHE CRACKS ME UP
<MaggieB> she is fun
<Janet> YOU SAW HER ART AT THE AUCTION
<MaggieB> yes
<MaggieB> good stuff
<MaggieB> okay.....
<Vyx> card stuff?
<MaggieB> so we got a circle and square
<Janet> YEP
<MaggieB> frameables
<Janet> SHE'S THE ONE WITH THE FOUR OR FIVE DRAGONFLY CARD VARIATIONS
<Janet> OKAY!
<Vyx> ah, okay
<Vyx> I have an oval and a square
<Janet> NOW REMEMBER HOW TO "CONVERT TO CURVES"?
<MaggieB> yes
<MaggieB> to both?
<MaggieB> both janet?
<Vyx> urm... only by right clicking...
<Janet> YOU CLICK ON EACH (OR BOTH) BUT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DO THEM ONE AT A TIME, THE KEYBOARD SHORTCUT IS CONTROL-Q
<MaggieB> but we will do both eventually?
<Janet> YES YOU'LL DO BOTH EVENTUALLY
<MaggieB> k done
<Janet> AFTER YOU CONVERT THESE TO CURVES, EACH OF THEM WILL HAVE FOUR NODES
<Janet> YOU CAN SEE THE NODES, THAT'S THE LIL SQUARES
<Janet> AND YOU CAN SEE ON THE SCREEN CAPTURE PAGE HOW I STARTED MESSING WITH MY PAC MAN
<Vyx> yep, okay
<Janet> EACH OF THOSE LITTLE SQUARES, WHEN YOU CLICK ON IT, WILL HAVE HANDLES
<Janet> LIKE LINES WITH GRABBER SQUARES ON THE END OF THEM
<Janet> PLAY WITH THAT
<Janet> AND ALSO JUST SORT OF GRAB INTO ONE AND DRAG IT AROUND
<Janet> EVERYBODY GOT A WACKED OUT LOOKING SHAPE NOW?
<Janet> (FROM PLAYING AND DRAGGING AROUND NODES)
<MaggieB> this is different
<MaggieB> than when we just did the shape and shapper tool
<Janet> THIS IS PROBABLY THE HARDEST THING TO DO IN COREL, I MEAN LEARNING IT INITIALLY
<MaggieB> i can grab anywhere on the line now
<Janet> BEZIER CURVES ARE DIFFERENT THAN ANYTHING ELSE
<Janet> IS THAT COOL??
<MaggieB> have a 50's looking ameoba shape
<MaggieB> bezier?
<Janet> NOW NOTICE YOUR TOP TOOLBAR
<Janet> WHEN YOU CLICK ON A NODE, IT CHANGES AND YOU GET NEW CHOICES
<MaggieB> yes?
<Janet> I EVEN SCREEN CAPTURED THEM
<Janet> (THAT'S AT THE TOP OF THAT WEB PAGE)
<MaggieB> what is smooth and cusp?
<MaggieB> and to line?
<Janet> I SHOULD TELL YOU TO PLAY WITH IT AND SEE
<MaggieB> is that what you mean?
<Janet> YEP
<MaggieB> should but wont?
<Janet> THERE'S A + AND A - (TO ADD AND DELETE NODES)...
<MaggieB> yes
<Janet> WELL YEAH, YOU'RE GONNA PLAY WITH THEM NOW
<Vyx> yeah, noticed that.
<MaggieB> the plus and minus's
<Janet> THEN THERE'S A BREAKER AND A JOINER
<MaggieB> ok
<Janet> (THIS WILL BE VERY HANDY WHEN WE WANT TO COMBINE OUR SHAPES)
<Janet> THEN YOU'VE GOT A LINE AND A CURVE
<Janet> YOU'LL NOTICE THAT ALL YOUR NODES ON THE CIRCLE/OVAL ARE CURVES AND ALL THE ONES ON THE SQUARE ARE LINES
<Janet> SO FOR FUN, CLICK ON A LINE ANYWHERE IN THE CIRCLE AND THEN CLICK THAT "TO LINE" BUTTON
<MaggieB> whoa
<Janet> THAT YOU'LL SEE AN IMMEDIATE CHANGE
<MaggieB> it danced!
<MaggieB> lol
<Janet> NOW CLICK ON ONE OF THE LINES IN THE SQUARE AND CLICK THE "TO CURVE" BUTTON
<Janet> YOU WON'T SEE AN IMMEDIATE CHANGE, OTHER THAN NOW YOU GOT CURVE HANDLE DEALIES TO PLAY WITH
<MaggieB> yes you can MAKE curves
<Janet> BUT WHEN A LINE BETWEEN TWO NODES IS "LINE" THEN IT'S NOT GOING TO CURVE ON YOU
<Janet> AND YET YOU CAN MAKE IT COMPLETELY STRAIGHT
<Janet> BUT IF YOU WANT SOMETHING COMPLETELY STRAIGHT?
<Janet> MIGHT AS WELL CLICK THE TO LINE DEALIE SO IT STAYS STRAIGHT
<MaggieB> thats cool!
<MaggieB> mine look like they walked out the 1950's! lol
<Janet> THE NEXT BUTTONS ARE CUSP, SMOOTH AND SYMMETRICAL
<Janet> LOL
<Janet> A CUSP IS WHERE YOU CAN MAKE THE CURVE HOWEVER YOU WANT, IT IS NOT CONSTRAINED IN ANYWAY
<Janet> ANY WAY (TWO WORDS)
<Janet> SMOOTH KEEPS IT SMOOTH, AND SYMMETRICAL WELL YOU GET IT
<Janet> SO CHANGE AROUND YOUR NODES TO EACH OF THOSE THREE AND SEE HOW THEY BEHAVE DIFFERENTLY
<cak> is it like a pivot point for changing the curve?
<Janet> IT IS!
<Janet> EXACTLY LIKE
<cak> (or is that the shape nodes?)
<Janet> BUT YOU CAN MAKE THE NODES BEHAVE HOW YOU WANT BY SPECIFYING IF YOU WANT IT TO STAY SMOOTH OR SYMMETRICAL OR CUSP'ED
<MaggieB> i dont understand the difference between the cusp adn smooth
<MaggieB> they dont seem any differnt
<Janet> MAGGIE, CHANGE THE NODE YOU'RE PLAYING WITH TO CUSP
<Janet> AND REALLY MESS WITH YOUR CONTROLLER HANDLE
<cak> OH! OK--makes more sense now (thanks!)
<Janet> YOU CAN GET IT TO SPIKE
<Janet> YOU'LL NEVER GET A SMOOTH OR SYMMETRICAL NODE TO MAKE A POINT
<Janet> BUT A CUSP WILL
<MaggieB> sure look like they do
<Janet> I THINK IT'S MORE BETTER FOR YOU TO PLAY AND SEE HOW EACH BEHAVES THAN EXPLAIN
<Janet> MAGGIE, YOU GOT A NODE THAT'S THE END OF A POINT?
<MaggieB> k
<Janet> CLICK ON IT, THEN CLICK SYMMETRICAL
<Janet> SEE WHAT HAPPENS
<MaggieB> when i click on it the sym is grayed
<Vyx> it got pointyer
<MaggieB> all i can click on is curve
<Janet> OH OKAY, THEN CLICK SMOOTH FIRST
<MaggieB> cant
<MaggieB> only curve
<Janet> OH THEN ONE OF THE SIDES IS A LINE
<MaggieB> yes
<Janet> CLICK ON BOTH SIDES OF THE NODE TO MAKE SURE BOTH LINES GOING OUT OF IT ARE CURVES
<MaggieB> changed noes
<MaggieB> node
<MaggieB> now one is point and then into curve
<MaggieB> i can click on smooth only
<Janet> AFTER YOU CLICK ON SMOOTH, THEN CAN YOU CLICK ON SYMMETRICAL?
<MaggieB> no
<MaggieB> grayed
<Janet> ONCE YOU GRAB THE CONTROLLER HANDLE?
<MaggieB> grayed
<Janet> GRAB THE CONTROLLER HANDLE AND SEE THAT AREA SMOOTH OUT AND YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR JAG ANYMORE
<MaggieB> i am lost
<Vyx> wonderful
<Janet> OKAY, LET'S BACK UP THEN
<Janet> PICK A PLACE ON A CURVY LINE AND CLICK ON IT, THEN CLICK THE + SIGN
<Janet> THAT WILL ADD AN EXTRA NODE FOR YOU
<MaggieB> k
<Janet> (AND THAT WAY I KNOW THAT BOTH SIDES OF THE NODE ARE CURVES RATHER THAN LINES TOO)
<MaggieB> did that
<Janet> OKAY!
<Janet> NOW CLICK ON THAT BRAND NEW NODE AND CLICK ON CUSP
<Janet> HIYA, DEB
<deb> hey
<Janet> GO LOOK AT http://www.cyberstampers.com/corel/shape.html
<Janet> WE'RE JUST PLAYING WITH OUR NODES SO FAR
<MaggieB> okay
<kat> i finally found the cusp and smooth
<MaggieB> and now i can do smooth or sym
<deb> sounds personal!
<MaggieB> lol
<Janet> OKAY!
<MaggieB> so what now?
<MaggieB> clicked on 2nd node
<Vyx> yeah, I kinda like how I've mushed my stuff around.
<MaggieB> and smooth and sym are highlighted
<Janet> DRAG AT ONE OF YOUR NODES IN CLOSE TO YOUR SECOND SHAPE
<Vyx> I'm overlapped
<MaggieB> without changing to smooth or sym?
<Janet> (THE TRICK, ULTIMATELY, IS TO GET THESE CURVES TO GO WHERE YOU WANT THEM TO, IT CAN BE TRICKY)
<Janet> KEWLNESS
<MaggieB> just as is?
<Janet> YEAH, JUST DRAG IT OVER CLOSE TO THE OTHER SHAPE
<Janet> SO YOU'VE GOT NODES FROM BOTH SHAPES PRETTY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER
<Janet> WE ARE GOING TO COMBINE THESE TWO OBJECTS TO MAKE JUST ONE OBJECT
<Janet> DEB, GO AHEAD AND DRAW A CIRCLE AND A SQUARE AND JUMP IN HERE
<Vyx> um, can I add nodes so I have some close together?
<Janet> OH YES VYX
<deb> I'm watching janet - my back is killing me
<Vyx> okay
<Janet> SINCE YOURS ARE OVERLAPPING?
<Janet> ADD A NODE ON EACH OBJECT CLOSE TO THE OVERLAP JUNCTION
<Vyx> Ok got it
<Janet> AND THEN SELECT EACH OF THE NODES (ONE ON EACH OBJECT) AND CLICK THE BREAK BUTTON
<Janet> THE BREAK BUTTON IS THE ONE UP CLOSEST TO THE PLUS AND MINUS
<Vyx> yep, I see it
<Janet> TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BREAK A NODE
<Vyx> One side of it pulls free from the shape
<Janet> YEP. AND WHATEVER COLOR YOU'VE FILLED THE SHAPE WITH, IT DISAPPEARS
<Janet> SO YOU STILL HAVE THE COLOR ON YOUR OUTER LINE, BUT NO COLOR FILLING IT UP
<MaggieB> i cannot get the break to ungray
<Vyx> Like it all drained out?? LOL
<Janet> THIS IS BECAUSE YOU NO LONGER HAVE A CLOSED SHAPE
<Janet> YEAH, THE COLOR DRIPPED OUT THE HOLE<G>
<Janet> MAGGIE, YOU NEED TO HAVE ONLY ONE NODE SELECTED
<Vyx> I need to zoom a lot more to see what I'm doing now.
<Janet> YEAH, DO ZOOM IN TO WHERE YOU'RE FIXING TO COMBINE YOUR TWO OBJECTS TOGETHER
<MaggieB> you want me to put two nodes over each other
<MaggieB> one from each shape
<MaggieB> right?
<Janet> NOT ON TOP OF EACH OTHER.
<Janet> JUST CLOSE
<MaggieB> where they intersect
<Janet> YES, BUT NOT RIGHT ON TOP OF THERE, OR YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE IT
<Vyx> dang, my node broke on the wrong side.
<Janet> LOL VYX, IT'S ACTUALLY BROKEN ON BOTH SIDES
<MaggieB> and then we should select one of those nodes
<Janet> BUT I NEVER CAN TELL WHICH SIDE IS ON TOP
<Janet> SO I MOVE ONE THEN I KNOW
<Vyx> I reverted, cuz I messed it up so bad
<Janet> YES, MAGGIE, JUST SELECT ONE NODE AND THEN CLICK THE BREAK BUTTON
<MaggieB> and hey
<Janet> REVERT IS OUR FRIEND :)
<Janet> YOUR COLOR DISAPPEARED, DIDN'T IT?
<MaggieB> how come soemthing called a node edit just popped up????
<MaggieB> color???
<MaggieB> who has color?
<MaggieB> what is this box????
<Janet> YOU MAYBE DOUBLE CLICKED.
<MaggieB> elastic mode?
<Janet> THE BOX IS FOR LATER, HIT CANCEL TO MAKE IT GO AWAY
<MaggieB> it has elastic mode?
<MaggieB> ok
<Janet> THAT'S DESSERT<G>
<kat> How do you select both nodes
<Janet> AH KAT! YOU JUST HIT ON THE NEXT STEP!
<Janet> THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN COMBINE YOUR TWO OBJECTS TOGETHER IS TO SWITCH BACK TO YOUR POINTER...
<MaggieB> no matter what i do the break will nto ungray
<Janet> CLICK ONE OBJECT, THEN HOLD DOWN YOUR SHIFT KEY TO SELECT THE OTHER ONE (SO YOU HAVE BOTH SELECTED WITH THE POINTER)
<MaggieB> are the shapes overlapped or just close
<Janet> MAGGIE, THEN APPARENTLY YOU'VE ALREADY BROKEN IT
<Janet> SO DRAG THE NODES APART SO YOU CAN SEE YOUR BREAK
<MaggieB> what?
<MaggieB> they arent touching
<Janet> WHEN YOU CLICK ON ONE NODE, EITHER THE BREAK IS GRAYED OUT OR THE JOIN IS
<Janet> AND IF BOTH ARE, THEN YOU DON'T HAVE JUST ONE NODE SELECTED
<MaggieB> i have a circle
<MaggieB> and a square
<Janet> BUT ANYWAY, WHEN YOU HAVE BOTH OBJECTS SELECTED WITH YOUR POINTER TOOL, GO UP INTO THE ARRANGE MENU AND PICK "COMBINE"
<MaggieB> well they used to be
<MaggieB> two different shapes
<kat> should the color just disappear from one shape or both
<MaggieB> and two of the nodes are close but not touching
<MaggieB> and the break is gray
<Janet> RIGHT. AND WHEN YOU HAVE A BROKEN NODE ON EACH OF THEM, YOU WON'T HAVE COLOR INSIDE EITHER OF THEM
<Janet> MAGGIE, WITH YOUR SHAPER TOOL, CLICK ONCE ON JUST ONE OF THOSE NODES
<MaggieB> COLOR????
<MaggieB> yes?
<Janet> DID YOU FILL YOUR OBJECTS WITH COLOR?
<MaggieB> no
<Vyx> Was I supposed to move the broken nodes?
<Janet> THEN DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE COLOR
<Janet> JUST ENOUGH SO YOU CAN SEE BOTH NODES ON THE BREAK, VYX
<Vyx> hmm okay
<MaggieB> i am totally lost
<MaggieB> i am done for the night i am afraid
<MaggieB> is not making any sense
<Janet> MAGGIE, GO LOOK AT THE SCREEN CAPTURE PAGE, THE FIRST ONE, DOWN AROUND THE MIDDLE THAT HAS THE EXTRA LITTLE PICTURE TO THE SIDE, LOOK AT THAT ONE
<Vyx> I can't get my nodes to combine... weird things happen instead.
<Janet> I SELECTED THE ONE NODE THAT WAS THE POINT OF MY SQUARE AND DID THE BREAK THING TO IT, THE SCOOTED EACH OF THOSE ENDS AWAY FROM EACH OTHER
<Janet> VYX, DID YOU COMBINE THE TWO OBJECTS YET?
<Janet> YOU HAVE TO SWITCH BACK TO THE POINTER TOOK, SELECT BOTH OBJECTS AND THEN CHOOSE COMBINE OUT OF THE ARRANGE MENU
<Janet> AND IT WON'T AUTOMAGICALLY MERGE THE OBJECTS, IT WILL JUST MAKE IT SO THE NODES ON BOTH WILL STAY SELECTED AT THE SAME TIME
<Janet> BUT AFTER YOU DO THE COMBINE THING, YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE SHAPER TOOL, SELECT ONE OF THE END NODES ON ONE SHAPE AND ONE OF THE END NOTES ON THE OTHER, AND THEN CLICK THE JOIN BUTTON
<Vyx> Ah! I was trying to combine em with the node tool sheesh.
<Janet> AH HA!
<Janet> THIS IS A MULTI-STEP PROCESS
<Janet> SO YOU JOIN ONE SET OF THE ENDS TOGETHER, THEN JOIN THE OTHER SET
<kat> where is the join button
<Janet> THEN YOUR OBJECTS FILL BACK IN, BECAUSE THEY ARE CLOSED AGAIN
<Janet> KAT, IT IS UP NEXT TO THE BREAK BUTTON RIGHT TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PLUS AND MINUS BUTTONS
<Janet> YOU SELECT TWO NODES (ONE OF THE BROKEN ENDS FROM EACH OF THE OBJECTS) AND THEN CLICK JOIN
<Janet> AND THEN THAT PART OF THE LINE IS GLUED BACK TOGETHER AGAIN
<Janet> THEN DO THE SAME WITH THE OTHER TWO SPLIT ENDS
<Janet> AND THEN YOUR TWO OBJECTS ARE NOW ONE OBJECT AND IT'S A CLOSED OBJECT AGAIN (SO THE COLOR COMES BACK IF YOU HAVE IT FILLED WITH COLOR)
<Janet> THE SCREEN CAPTURES MAY OR MAY NOT HELP YOU SEE THE PROCESS
<Janet> HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING?
<MaggieB> see you guys later going to set up my class
<MaggieB> will try to make sense of this from the log
<Janet> OKEYS MAGGIE, WE'LL BE THERE IN 3
<cak> I see a long play session in my future
<MaggieB> tomorrow
<Janet> OH YEAH, THIS IS PLAY TIME FOR SURE
<Janet> VYX, BECAUSE YOU HAD OVERLAPPING OBJECTS?
<Vyx> I can't get it to fill.
<kat> me neither vyx
<Janet> YOU'RE GOING TO END UP WITH A STRAY PIECE OF LINE JUST FLOATING LOOSE OUT THERE
<Vyx> I just broke and lapped the ends. Yep, I have lines floating in the middle
<Janet> IF IT ISN'T FILLING, MEANS YOU STILL HAVE A BROKEN NODE SOMEWHERE
<Janet> VYX, TO ERASE THAT FLOATING AROUND LINE, SELECT THE NODES IN IT AND EITHER CLICK THE MINUS BUTTON OR JUST HIT THE DELETE KEY
<Vyx> Can't get it to join... and don't know why. It worked the first time
<Vyx> Oh, I did that earlier Janet.
<Janet> IN FACT, IT MAY BE EASIER TO SEE WHERE YOU NEED TO JOIN STUFF IF YOU DO DELETE THE EXTRANEOUS LINE
<Janet> AH OKAY
<Janet> YOU ARE AHEAD NOW
<kat> where do you look at the pictures janet
<deb> http://www.cyberstampers.com/corel/shape.html
<Janet> OUR HOUR IS ALREADY OVER. HOMEWORK IS TO PLAY WITH THIS, BREAKING AND JOINING AND MESSING AROUND WITH YOUR NOSE
<Janet> NODES
<deb> lol
<Vyx> Messing with our nose eh? LOL
<Janet> (YOU CAN PLAY WITH YOUR NOSE, TOO, BUT I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT)
<cak> (I have cold, so I'll mess with my nose too)
<deb> boogy boogy
<Janet> LOL
<Janet> OKAY, LET'S BOOGIE OVER TO MAGGIE'S CLASS AT #craftclass !
<cak> Thank you Janet!
<kat> see you there
<Vyx> I need a good new logo for my web page.
<Janet> DO YOUR HOMEWORK! PLAY! PLAY! PLAY!
<Vyx> Thanks Janet!
<Janet> THANKS FOR BEING HERE.
<cak> See you all in #cc
