<crowfAFK> hi yama

<anno> so.

<anno> what's the class?

<cak> it's a mystery class!

<crowfAFK> so far, no buddy noes

<anno> rofl!

<anno> cool.

<anno> mystery class.

<cak> I have a love-hate relationship with convention week--prolly too much stimulation!

<crowfAFK> yeah and this suspense is killin me!

<glitrbug> Yeah, I get that way too

<cak> LOL

<wyorph> I'm a newbie--you guys type FAASSTT!! :-)

<Kaye> hey guys

<crowfAFK> hi wyorph!

<yamamama> hi newbie,, where ya from?

<cak> That's one thing about IRC--your typing skills improve radically!

<wyorph> Hi! First time to cyber convention--

<crowfAFK> welcome!

<yamamama> welcome

<Janet1> Welcome to the convention!!

<wyorph> Thanks! The classes have been cool!

<glitrbug> Welcome to our craziness

<cindyc> wyorph.... interesting nickname

<Kaye> my first time too

<crowfAFK> see janet types the fastest so she said three words of welcome

<Kaye> great fun isn't it

<crowfAFK> hi there kaye!

<indigojone> my first too!

<wyorph> from wyoming and a pharmacist AND a stamper

<enchy4mill> RED!

<crowfAFK> welcome to you too!

<glitrbug> hi kaye

yamamama sits next to enchy and says,,, THANKS SWEETIE,, for the catty,, what a suprise

<Kaye> hey everyone

<cindyc> you should meet frank....

<anno> so..

<enchy4mill> you are welcome yamamamay

<enchy4mill> you needed it

<yamamama> yes I did,,,,LOL

<anno> woohoo!

<Janet1> ANNO! TAKE IT AWAY!

<yamamama> you are so sweet

<anno> rofl!

<crowfAFK> ohhh at lasssst! fat marvies!!

<anno> ok.

<Marvey> who are you calling fat?

<enchy4mill> sshhhhhhhh anno - don't tell anyone

<anno> rofl!

<cak> lol

<crowfAFK> fat is marvie!

<enchy4mill> no

<AliciaG> =)

<cak> (it should be me)

<enchy4mill> shhhhhh yama don't tell anyone

<anno> http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<anno> there's the pictures!

<anno> follow the directions, buy the stamps!

<anno> your turn, janet.

<anno> rofl!

<enchy4mill> roflol anno

<cak> the RD version!

<Janet1> Uhhhhh explain it more than that. I get confused

<enchy4mill> i printed anno's instructions on the color laser printer at work today

<anno> rofl!

<anno> ok.

<enchy4mill> quite nice

<anno> sorry.

<enchy4mill> beautiful

<anno> I just sat back down.

<anno> ok.

<anno> the fat marvy technique, a la anno.

<cindyc> tis a coat of many colors....

<anno> well.. yeah, I learned it from a magenta video!

<anno> and they did call it joseph's coat, although usually when you hear 'bout joseph's coat it involves a brayer.

<anno> and..

<anno> I can't bray.

<anno> so.

<anno> this works for me.

<anno> I used to have a cat my mama named josephine, cuz she had a coat of many colors.

<anno> we called her kitty.

<anno> did y'all look at the pictures?

<Libster> yes ma'am

<anno> www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<anno> any questions?

<Libster> http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<brenda4> gorgeous anno

<Libster> wouldn

<indigojone> yup - VERY nice

<anno> ty, lib!

<anno> ty, brenda!

<Libster> welcome

<anno> ty, indigo!

<Janet1> fat Marveys are the big brush markers, right?

<wyorph> ooo I like this example too: http://www.dm.net/~anno/fatmarvy6.jpg

<anno> yes!

<anno> the marvy brush markers.

<Kaye> i suck at embossing

<anno> rofl wyorph.. I gotta go look at that and see what it is...

<Kaye> it always screws up

<anno> oh!

<anno> that's from the old class! I like that one too!

<Libster> I love that tree!!!!

<anno> it doesn't so much matter with this, kaye...

<Janet> that's the one you smooshed with the memories pad?

<anno> because the color is gonna take over, rather than the embossing.. it doesn't have to stand alone like it sometimes needs to.

<Kaye> any good tips on embossing

<anno> yeah, that's the one I smooshed with the memories pad.

<anno> I wish I could find the before pictures.

<anno> but they're lost in cyberspace somewhere!

<anno> oh.

<anno> kaye,

<Kaye> yes

<anno> I learned this from the radiant pearls video..

<anno> if you're embossing stuff with large areas, like these fairies..

<anno> I didn't do this, but it is cool..

<anno> use your embossing ink..

<anno> or a color'd pigment..

<anno> then utee..

<anno> then, before you hot it up,

<anno> detail clear..

<anno> clear utee..

<anno> to fill in the spaces?

<anno> and then hot it up..

<anno> that makes for good coverage.

<brenda4> wow

<anno> the big chunks, and then the fine grains..

<Kaye> cool great tip

<Kaye> is the video good

<kat> anno caps please

<wyorph> this technique works neat with watercolors also

<anno> that was the best thing I got from the video.

<C_Lion> I keep a mix of regular UTEE and detail clear

<ANNO> oh.. that's handy, c-lion!

<cak> pre-mixed? What a good idea

<C_Lion> another tip, lol

<ANNO> good idea!

<ANNO> ok..

<ANNO> so..

<ANNO> the fat marvy thing..

<ANNO> you stamp in clear and emboss in clear...

<ANNO> double dip your ep's if you like!

<ANNO> then you just take your fat marvys (brush markers) (any watercolor marker will work)

<Kaye> so you pre mix the utee and the detail clear

<ANNO> fat marvys just got fat points so they scribble faster..

<ANNO> c-lion does!

<ANNO> I just used plain old ordinary clear ep, on these pictures.

<ANNO> then you scribble all over the image..

<ANNO> any way you want..

<Kaye> is the radiant pearls video good

<ANNO> it was pretty good...

<glitrbug> I love that fairy stamp

<ANNO> the EP tip was the best for me, cuz.. I don't paint...

<C_Lion> do you ever have trouble with the clear getting cloudy on dark paper?

<ANNO> so most of the rest of it was wasted on me!

<ANNO> I only stamp on kraft.

<ANNO> rofl!

<ANNO> almost exclusively.

<Janet> occasionally I do, clion, is the embossing ink getting icky under there someone told me

<Janet> and I was told to hot it up again and it would usually clear up

<C_Lion> ty janet

<glitrbug> I was thinking of trying a mix of translucent Premo with that on top & see if it would work as a window thingy

<glitrbug> with some of those fairy stamps

<Kaye> like a window cling

<ANNO> that might be really cool, glitrbug

<Kaye> you can use the liquid sculpey

<Kaye> it is awesome stuff

<ANNO> once you've scribbled all over what you embossed already, take a paper towel and wipe the ink off the EP..

<ANNO> and it'll look pretty.

<ANNO> before that it's pretty ugly.

<cak> lol

<ANNO> seriously.

<Kaye> brb need to put a sheet on the bed

<ANNO> you gotta wipe that marker ink off before you can believe you're actually doing anything but makin' a mess.

<Janet> and the other day when mine looked too garish, putting the memories tan on the top really made it cool

<glitrbug> I tend to add glitter

<ANNO> yeah.. I wish we could find the step by step from the old class, cuz that proved that point.

<glitrbug> you make garish sound bad.....

<Janet> LOL

<Janet> Garish as a way of life.

<ANNO> if you scribble on it and you still don't like it, smoosh a brown memories pad.. (well.. sometimes it doesn't work. it worked for the pink thing!)

<Janet> it worked for my leaf!

<ANNO> then spritz your paper towel with spritz cleaner and clean the ep off again..

<glitrbug> Brown on pink !!! Oh my!

<ANNO> look at the gaudy flowers..

<ANNO> I left those alone too!

<ANNO> and..

<ANNO> they are.. garrish!

<ANNO> rofl!

<glitrbug> Well, I like the flowers all right, just don't care for orange.

<ANNO> it's not so bright as it looks in the scan..

<glitrbug> I work in a grey cube so can't get enough color when I am loose

<Janet> i think it was the lime green in my leaf i didn't like. but the brown memories pad made it perfect

<ANNO> when I did those flowers from the last class.. they were just too pastel, really.

<ANNO> I scribbled the colors I thought they should be..

<ANNO> and it was blah...

<ANNO> but smooshing the memories brown on top made them look old, rather than blah.. sorta.

<glitrbug> Magenta always spices things up

<ANNO> I can't really 'splain how it worked, just that it did.

<glitrbug> that's great ano. I will try that sometime.

<ANNO> I wish I could show you the difference!

<glitrbug> Out of the box for me

<Janet> everybody should try this. it's fun!

<ANNO> if you look at the leaf ones..

<glitrbug> Yeah, before & after

<ANNO> the red one I smooshed brown memories on, and the green one I smooshed green memories on.

<ANNO> I tried vivid once, I think I saw that in a magenta video too,

<ANNO> but it just ate the imate..

<ANNO> image..

<ANNO> the ink soaked all in?

<C_Lion> I only see one card, are there more?

<ANNO> so I might as well not have colored it at all.

<Janet> there are links for more at the bottom

<ANNO> www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<ANNO> she mighta just got the link to the last class picture..

<C_Lion> ty anna

<C_Lion> anno

<Janet> (I'm afraid to cut and paste one now , afraid i'll lose the next page link)

<C_Lion> oooh those are pretty

<wyorph> I have also seen this done using markers FIRST then stamp and emboss with a bolder stamp

<ANNO> so.. I'm not sure it's memories that makes a difference, but you don't want a really juicy pad.. I think a felt-type pad probably works better than one of the foam type, like any of clearsnaps.

<wyorph> then top off with darker ink

<ANNO> oh..

<ANNO> cool..

<ANNO> I'll have to try that sometime too! still emboss in clear?

<ANNO> cool.

<wyorph> the images are colored instead of white that way

<wyorph> yes, still emboss in clear

<cak> and no brayer involved!

<ANNO> that might just sell me on rabbit's peacock.

<C_Lion> are teh butterflies stamped in Blanco?

<ANNO> that's why I like this cak.. I can't brayer..

<ANNO> no..

<wyorph> you can DTP with markers or a dye ink pad

<ANNO> still stamped in clear and embossed in clear..

<ANNO> then scribbled over.

yamamama has a question

<wyorph> yes

<yamamama> how much do you think the image is compromised by the color of paper you mount it on?\

<ANNO> compromised?

<yamamama> or is it at all?

<ANNO> I think it's enhanced by the color!

<ANNO> long as you pick the color you can work with.

<ANNO> yanno?

<yamamama> it shows through the clear embossing?

<ANNO> sure.

<ANNO> can't you tell those are not white?

<ANNO> or.. can you?

<ANNO> maybe you can't.

<yamamama> you never use white anno...lol

<ANNO> I dunno, I never tried on white!

<Janet> i'm the one who likes white

<ANNO> I almost always start with kraft.

yamamama too

<ANNO> not 100%, but almost always.

<ANNO> when I sit down to stamp, I snag a piece of kraft and start.

<ANNO> unless I have a white idea, or unless yamamama is tryin' to teach me to chalk!

<Janet> LOL

<yamamama> lol

<ANNO> but usually, almost all the time, I start with kraft.

<glitrbug> I had to go out & get more glossy to try that chalk thing from last nite

<ANNO> you can start with anything you want.

<MomCat> I like to stamp on paper that is not a solid color.

<ANNO> I got a piece of glossy today in my yellow rose social prize!

<ANNO> what should I do with it?

<glitrbug> I need to get a ream of glossy

ANNO is glossyimpaired

<yamamama> the 4 samples that are together,, now those arn't done on kraft,, right?

<Janet> (well and I usually use either acetate or toiletpaper<g>)

<ANNO> course they are.

<ANNO> all on one piece of kraft.

<C_Lion> polished stone is my favorite use of glossy

<wyorph> HGTV example of what I was trying to describe:

<ANNO> or brown.. I dunno for sure what it's name brand is.

<MomCat> what is the URL, please?

<wyorph> http://hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1158,CRHO_project_13576,FF.html

<yamamama> it looks lighter than I picture "kraft"

ANNO is polished-stone impaired too.

<ANNO> it just scanned light.

<glitrbug> You stamp on glossy with dye and q-tip chalk over it. last nite it was with photo stamps

<ANNO> www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<Susan> lol anno i buy white glossy by the ream!

yamamama never chalks on glossy

<ANNO> I buy kraft/tan stuff by the ream!

<Susan> Stipple on the glossy

<Libster> I can't find white glossy

<Susan> then stamp over it

<Libster> only plain

<Susan> very fast and easy

<Susan> no embossing necessary

<ANNO> but.. that layer under the vellum on the first fairy card, the fall color one.. that is glossy..

<ANNO> the yellowgreen one.

<ANNO> I tried that blueprint thing...

<ANNO> it didn't work..

<ANNO> but it was the right color for that layer!

<glitrbug> What blue print thing?

<Janet> those are so cool.

<glitrbug> I missed that one

<ANNO> the blueprint thing...

<Janet> hey Lory!

<ANNO> you..

<ANNO> I dunno if I can remember it.

<ANNO> you..

<Lory> hey

<yamamama> Lib??

<cak> It's a hand applied light-sensitive emulsion

<ANNO> I'll have to watch that movie again.

<ANNO> you..

<brenda4> hey lory

<ANNO> no..

<ANNO> it's easier than that, cak!

<Lory> hey brenda

<ANNO> you..

<ANNO> oh!!

<cak> (they sell it already coated on paper)

<Janet> hi, Jratz

<ANNO> you smoosh ancient page ink all over a report cover..

<jratz> Hi

<ANNO> and then you ink a stamp with embossing ink (clear)

<ANNO> and stamp it into the mess you made on the report cover..

<ANNO> then you put a piece of glossy in there..

<ANNO> and close the cover..

<ANNO> and brayer over it..

<ANNO> and in theory...

<yamamama> andmake another mess

<ANNO> you get like a blueprint.

<ANNO> I got a mess.

<cak> Ah!

<yamamama> LOL

<ANNO> but, it was the right color mess, for that card!

<glitrbug> LOL that would be a doomed project for me

<ANNO> actually..

<wyorph> A true crafter--never throw anything away!

<glitrbug> Yes, you got something useable

<ANNO> you might not ink the stamp at all.

<ANNO> you might just stamp.

<ANNO> I can't remember.

<kat> wouldn't that mess up you embossing pad

<ANNO> I'll have to watch the movie again.

<ANNO> well..

<yamamama> take away color

<ANNO> it was clear ink on a clear stamp..

<ANNO> the intent is to remove ink from the report cover.. yes.

<kat> oh, ok

<kat> gotcha

<Sber> is there a url>

<Janet> there is!

<ANNO> sure.

<yamamama> http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<ANNO> www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html

<ANNO> rofl.

<ANNO> ty, yamamama

<yamamama> †

<ANNO> I'm bound to typo it.

<Sber> thanks!

<ANNO> cuz I'm just typing it.. rofl!

<Libster> Hi Sber!

<Janet> SB!

<Sber> hey there!

<ANNO> did you look at the last sample in the extra links?

<Sber> pretty!

<Libster> I love that tree!

<glitrbug> Yes

<Libster> I saved it

<ANNO> that's the same thing only with black.

<yamamama> libster......

<ANNO> I tried it with clear but it sucked.

<indigojone> I love it in black!

<ANNO> partly cuz my clear pad was kind of sucky at the time.. it didn't emboss well.

<ANNO> somewhere I have proof of that.

<ANNO> but the black worked well!

<ANNO> so..

<ANNO> you can just use the fat marvy thing to color whatever you wanna stamp and emboss in whatever color you want...

<ANNO> scribbling is the cool part.

<ANNO> well.. part of the cool part.

<ANNO> you wanna see the ugly tree?

<ANNO> (it's really ugly)

<Sber> this is on non-glossy or glossy

<Janet> (is not)

<ANNO> unglossy

<cak> yeah (it'll make me feel better)

<Sber> thanks!

<yamamama> glossless

<ANNO> (is kraft-type)

<ANNO> ok..

<ANNO> lemme find it...

<ANNO> http://www.dm.net/~anno/tree2.JPG

<Libster> yamama you wanted me???

<ANNO> there's the ugly one.

<Sber> Anno you did a great job with the samples! so take a compliment grasiously and enjoy it!

<yamamama> I am talking to you in private,,,,,,,, go find me

<ANNO> oh.. ty!

<Janet> oh no, I love that one!

<ANNO> I do appreciate the compliments!

<ANNO> but that one was a total failure..

<ANNO> rofl.

<ANNO> the inkpad was awful so it didn't emboss well..

<ANNO> and I didn't figure out there was a sun or moon in the image til it was already too scribbled to make it show!

<Sber> hey it was a really detailed image too. so...

<brenda4> oh i love it

<indigojone> oh but Anno, the colors are lovely and the fibers are just right for it

<ANNO> well.. thanks...

<brenda4> neat effect

<ANNO> that's when I got a new embossing pad.

<ANNO> I reink'd the old one and it was never the same after.

<ANNO> kinda watery.

<ANNO> and I used a real reinker too!

<ANNO> so I dunno what was up with that.

<ANNO> but..

<ANNO> it killed it.

<Sber> hey rabbit!

<ANNO> hey rabbit!

<glitrbug> I like it too anno

<Janet> RRabbit!

<ANNO> ty, glitrbug

<RubberRabb> Hi all

<kat> i liked it a lot anno

<MomCat> I love the clear tree anno

<ANNO> ty, kat

<ANNO> I like the black tree.

<ANNO> rofl!

<glitrbug> It just didn't come out the way you planned

<RubberRabb> you killed what anno (hoping for a confession)

<ANNO> I killed my embossing pad, rabbit..

<ANNO> I almost killed my husband today..

<ANNO> but..

<ANNO> I wimped out.

<indigojone> lol

<Janet> (it's still an iffy thing with mine)
