<NicoleWolv> OK, READY FOR CLASS?

<Libster> yes!!!

<jenmist> yea!

<cindyc> uh huh

<StarofHear> Let her rip....

<deb> ok - conversations to a minimum please

<brenda> yessssssssssssssss

<deb> Nicole - whenever you are ready

<NicoleWolv> WELL, GO SEE THE SCANS OF THE PROJECTS PLEASE! THERE ARE HERE> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<deb> if they get rowdy - I'll just bounce them out of here

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<NicoleWolv> AND FOR THOSE WHO DON'T ME, FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW ME, MY NAME IS NICOLE WOLVERTON AND I OWN A SMALL LINE OF STAMPS CALLED STRANGECRAFT ART RUBBER STAMPS. MORE ABOUT ME AND MY LITTLE COMPANY CAN BE FOUND HERE> http://www.strangecraft.net.

<Holly> oh I love them! Tell us how!

<jenmist> great stamps

<NicoleWolv> I LEARNED HOW TO MAKE THESE IN A GREAT CLASS AT CREATE AN IMPRESSION IN ARDMORE, PA EARLIER THIS YEAR. THEY'RE REALLY VERY VERSATILE, AND ALOT OF FUN TO PLAY WITH! I'VE BEEN COMMISSIONED TO MAKE A FEW OF THESE AS WEDDING GIFTS -- THE SCROLL IS STAMPED OR PRINTED ON THE PRINTER TO SAY "MICHELLE AND DAN -- JULY THIRD, TWO THOUSAND ONE" (FOR INSTANCE).

<NicoleWolv> THANKS JEN! *GRIN*

<NicoleWolv> YOU CAN ALSO USE THEM AS JOURNALS....I'VE GIVEN QUITE A FEW AWAY WITH A BLANK SCROLL THAT CAN BE WRITTEN ON. THESE WORK REALLY GREAT AS JOURNALS BECAUSE ALL SORTS OF KEEPSAKES CAN BE STORED IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX.

<NicoleWolv> OF COURSE, THEY CAN ALSO BE USED AS KEEPSAKES UNTO THEMESELVES....JUST LITTLE OBJETS D'ART, WITH A BLANK SCROLL, BEADED CLOTH SCROLL, OR WITH A GREAT QUOTATION STAMPED ONTO THE SCROLL. NOW THAT YOU KNOW ALL THE DIFFERENT COOL WAYS TO USE THEM, HERE IS THE SUPPLY LIST! OH, I MIGHT MENTION HERE THAT ALMOST ALL THESE SUPPLIES CAN BE BOUGHT FROM JUST JHONE!

<Libster> OOOOOOoooooooooo!!! I love books I can't wait I love these!!!

<NicoleWolv> YAY JHONE! *GRIN*

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<Holly> I loe to make books too lib

<Holly> oops, love

<NicoleWolv> SUPPLIES NEEDED (FOR ALL THE PROJECTS)> PAPER MACHE BOXES, TREASURE JEWELS, LUMIERE PAINTS, STAMPS, DYE REINKERS, PIGMENT INK, WONDER TAPE, WHITE OR BEIGE GESSO, WOODEN SKEWERS, BEADS, NATURAL TISSUE PAPER, HANDMADE PAPER, GLUE (PVA AND E6000), HOLE PUNCH, HEAT GUN, CLEAR EMBOSSING POWDER, GOLDEN GLAZE, STIPPLE BRUSH OR A VERY STIFF BRISTLED BRUSH.

<Libster> I am just learning this si GREAT

<NicoleWolv> THE FIRST PROJECT WE'LL BE WORKING ON IS THE LITTLE SQUARE BOX. THIS BOX IS COLORED USING ADIRONDACK DYE REINKER IN STREAM. I REALLY WANTED GOOD COVERAGE FOR THE BOX, SO I SQUIRTED A LITTLE INTO A PAPER CUP AND BRUSHED IT ONTO THE BOX USING A LARGE PAINTBRUSH. IT GIVES A NEAT LOOK TO USE A DIFFERENT COLOR OF REINKER FOR THE INSIDE OF THE BOX.

<magnolia> ty

<NicoleWolv> KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU WANT LESS COVERAGE OF INK, YOU CAN WIPE THE DYE INK ONTO THE BOX WITH A PAPER TOWEL OR YOU CAN USE WATER OR FLOW ENHANCER IN THE DYE TO THIN IT OUT. LET THE INK DRY COMPLETELY. THIS MAY TAKE 24 HOURS, DEPENDING ON THE HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE IN YOUR ROOM.

<jaxstamper> thx

<NicoleWolv> WHEN THE BOX IS COMPLETELY DRY, SPREAD A LAYER OF CLEAR EMBOSSING POWDER IN THE BOTTOM OF A TIDY TRAY OR SHOE BOX LID. INK UP A STAMP WITH WHITE PIGMENT INK -- I USED A LEAF FROM JUST JHONE'S KNIFE'S EDGE SHEET (A SHEET OF STAMPS FROM ERASER CARVINGS). STAMP IT REPEATEDLY ALL OVER ONE SIDE OF THE BOX; IMMEDIATELY DIP THE SIDE INTO THE CLEAR EMBOSSING POWDER AND USE A HEAT GUN TO MELT THE POWDER. REPEAT ON

<StarofHear> Is someone logging or are instructions on web site?

<jhone> Nicole, will heat setting speed up the drying?

<deb> cak always logs

<NicoleWolv> I'LL HAVE INSTRUCTIONS ON MY SITE WITHIN A FEW DAYS....

<deb> cak is a professional logger

<Libster> good!!!

<Libster> I am going to get the stuff to make this- DH sent birthday $$ !!

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<NicoleWolv> IT DEPENDS -- THE INK OVER GESSO TAKES FOREVER TO DRY, EVEN IF YOU HEAT SET.....JUST INK OVER THE PAPER MACHE SHOULD DRY FASTER WITHA HEAT SET

<jhone> ok

<jhone> we all know how much you LOVE gesso!

<Libster> repeat on -- ??

<NicoleWolv> YEP, I STOCK IT BY THE BARREL-FUL! *GRIN*

<NicoleWolv> RUN A STRIP OF THIN WONDER TAPE (OR OTHER STRONG DOUBLE SIDED TAPE) ALONG THE EDGE OF THE LID. SPREAD A THIN LAYER OF BEEDZ OR BEADAZZLES OR OTHER SMALL BEADS IN THE BOTTOM OF A TIDY TRAY OR SHOE BOX LID (I USED A COMBINATION OF SMALL SILVER AND AQUA MICROBEADS). PRESS EACH SIDE INTO THE BEADS UNTIL THE TAPE IS COMPLETELY COVERED.

<NicoleWolv> DETERMINE THE DEPTH OF WHERE THE HOLES FOR YOUR SKEWER NEED TO BE. YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT THE LID DOESN'T COVER THE HOLES WHEN THE LID IS ON. USE A HOLE PUNCH, DRILL, OR AN AWL TO MAKE THE HOLES FOR THE SKEWER. CUT A WOODEN (BAMBOO) SKEWER TO THE RIGHT SIZE TO FIT THROUGH THE BOX (YOU CAN USE METAL SKEWERS OR RIGID WIRES TIED TOGETHER OR A PENCIL, ETC), AND INSERT THE SKEWER THROUGH THE BOX.

<NicoleWolv> JUST MAKE SURE THE FIT ISN'T TOO TIGHT -- YOU WANT THE SKEWER TO TURN EASILY IN THE HOLES

<jhone> do you have any tricks for getting the holes balanced?

jhone is measurement challenged

<Libster> me too Jhone

<jenmist> nothing is perfect you know

<NicoleWolv> I DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY -- I USE MY TRUSTY METAL RULER...YOU KNOW THE RULE: MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE! *GRIN*

<Libster> especially me

<jenmist> lib!

<Libster> Jen!

<NicoleWolv> USE E6000 OR OTHER INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH GLUE TO AFFIX TREASURE JEWELS ONTO THE SKEWER ENDS. MEASURE THE WIDTH OF THE BOX AND EITHER CUT OR TEAR LONG STRIPS OF PAPER SO THEY ARE NO LARGER THAN THE MEASUREMENT. THE LENGTH OF THE STRIPS CAN BE AS LONG OR SHORT AS YOU WANT....IT'S BEST TO USE PARENT SHEETS OF PAPER FOR THIS, BUT IF YOU ONLY HAVE SHORTER SHEETS, YOU CAN CONNECT THE SHEETS OF PAPER TO FORM ONE L

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<NicoleWolv> GETTING THE TREASURE JEWELS TO GLUE TO THE ENDS OF THE SKEWERS CAN BE KINDA TRICKY.....IT TAKES SERIOUS PATIENCE! *GRIN*

<NicoleWolv> FOLD OVER THE END OF ONE STRIP, AND PLACE IT OVER THE SKEWER SO THE CREASE IN THE FOLD IS SNUG AGAINST THE SKEWER. PLACE A BIT OF GLUE ON THE FOLD AND GLUE THE PAPER TO FOLD TO THE SKEWER. ALLOW TO DRY COMPLETELY AND THEN CAREFULLY WIND THE PAPER AROUND THE SKEWER TO FORM THE SCROLL. YOU MAY WISH TO EDGE THE PAPER IN PIGMENT INK FOR COLOR.

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<NicoleWolv> A WORD HERE: IF YOU INTEND TO STAMP ON THE SCROLL OR PRINT OUT A MESSAGE ON THE PAPER, DO IT BEFORE YOU GLUE THE PAPER TO THE SKEWER! *GRIN*

<Cheri> these scroll boxes are great!

<Holly> using little wooden beads might be easier to glue on the skewers than the jewels because they have holes

<cak> lol

<jhone> or blobs of colored hot glue might work

<NicoleWolv> THIS IS TRUE, BUT I REALLY LIKE THE TREASURE JEWELS ON THE ENDS -- THE COLORS ARE SO COOL!@

<jenmist> ROFL

<Serene> is there a social now?

<Serene> .list

<NicoleWolv> I GLUED A TREASURE JEWEL TO THE END OF THE SCROLL TO GIVE ME A LITTLE NUGGET OF SOMETHING TO PULL THE SCROLL WITH. THAT'S ALL SHE WROTE FOR PROJECT 1! DOES ANYONE HAVE QUESTIONS OR IS IT TIME TO MOVE TO PROJECT 2?

<Holly> class now serene

<jenmist> I love this!!!!!

<Holly> I do too jen

<jhone> gee, nicole, you make it sound VERY easy!

<Holly> They really look cool

<cak> Seems pretty straightforward! I love it

<Debbie> thank goodness you're putting directions up you type fast!!!

<NicoleWolv> IT IS EASY! AND FAST! AND VERY COOL!

<Holly> debbie, I was thinking the same thing

<deb thinks she is cutting and pasting

<Debbie> I can't read my writing how about you

<StarofHear> This sounds too easy - when do you tell us the hard part?

<NicoleWolv> ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I WROTE THIS EARLIER...I'M NOT THAT FAST OF A TYPIST! *GRIN*

<Judy> I came in late, sorry- how deep is the box?

<deb> lol

<Holly> deb was right

<jhone> well, the EASY part is ordering the supplies from MOI!

<Debbie> lol

<NicoleWolv> THERE IS NO HEARD PART...THE HARD PART IS WAITING FOR THE INK TO DRY!

cindyc is happy she has a print screen feature to capture this class....

<cak> (now that *is* hard)

<NicoleWolv> THE BOX FOR PROJECT 1 IS JUST A STANDARD SQUARE PAPER MACHE BOX -- ABOUT 3X3X3

<StarofHear> What did you say you used for the scroll sticks?

<Holly> I love how you tore and tinted the edges

<Holly> of the paper

<NicoleWolv> I USE BAMBOO SKEWERS, BUT YOU CAN USE ANYTHING - METAL SKEWERS, PENCILS...TWIGS....

jhone bets she accidentally tore the edge, then did the other side to match <G>

<Holly> lol

<NicoleWolv> I'M MUCH TOO ANAL RETENTIVE TO ACCIDENTALLY TEAR THE EDGES! *GRIN*

<Libster> ROFL

<cindyc> me sees a dead seas scroll project coming on....

<jhone> yeah, sure you are

<Libster> COOL!!!

<NicoleWolv> SHOULD I MOVE ON TO PROJECT 2 OR DOES ANYONE HAVE QUSTIONS?

<jhone> nicole, why don't you ask a question and the first correct answer gets a prize?

<Lory> troy aikman

<jhone> hush, lory

<Libster> LOL

<jhone> NICOLE Is asking

<deb> lol

<NicoleWolv> ALRIGHT.......NAME TWO SHEETS OF RUBBER THAT JHONE SELLS TO WIN THE PRIZE!

<brenda> graces

<Libster> Grace KIttens

<deb> cats and graces

<Lory> stained glass and grace

<jhone> those are NOT names

<deb> well - you KNOW what I meant

<cak> (ya think Graces is popular?)

<deb> lol

<Judy> Floral1 and 2

<Rusty> well,not proper names.lol

<deb> cause I has them

<Libster> garden graces zipper and friends

<jhone> lib wins

<jhone> good girl!

<deb> sheesh

<cak> yay lib!!

<jenmist> garden graces and knife edge

<jhone> Lib, email me at jhone@dm.net

<Libster> that is gonna be my order!!!!

<indigojone> what's jhone's url?

<NicoleWolv> WWW.JHONE.COM

<jhone> www.jhone.com

<jenmist> rats

<Serene> www.jhone.com

<Lory> i want my prizes back lib

<Libster> what did I win??

<deb> lol lory]

<jhone> I dunno, yet

<cindyc> i hate slow connections....... sigh.. girn

<Libster> LOL

<deb> you won a prize to mail to me

<indigojone> ty

<Holly> I just ordered garden graces, but I have to wait until she gets more lumeires

<jhone> I made up the prizes later

<Serene> Libster... you won the right to send me a card!

<Serene> lol

<Libster> A surprize prize!!!!

<NicoleWolv> ALRIGHT, PROJECT 2 IS MY FAVORITE OF THE GROUP.....PROJECT 2 IS THE LARGE TRIANGLE BOX, WHICH IS (OF COURSE) AVAILABLE FROM JUST JHONE. THIS TRIANGLE BOX IS A VARIATION OF PROJECT 1....IT IS MEANT TO BE A FRIENDSHIP JOURNAL. THE BOX IS COLORED (INSIDE AND OUT) WITH ADIRONDACK DYE REINKER IN RED PEPPER AND CRANBERRY, WITH A TOUCH OF CARAMEL.

<Libster> I love it!

<StarofHear> Zipper and Friends and Classical Glass

<Holly> It's beautiful!

<jhone> we have a winner

<deb> I have a cat trying to push me out of this chair!!!!

<cindyc> jen make note.. red pepper and caramel....

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<NicoleWolv> *LMAO*

<Serene> so push it back, deb.

<Serene> or

<Serene> i'll send tru to you

<deb> lol ewww would make a mess

<jhone> sit on the cat

<deb> lol

<NicoleWolv> THAT'S RIGHT -- A TRIBUTE TO THE CARAMEL QUEEN! *GRIN*

<deb> she's between me and the back of the chair

<jenmist> rofl

<NicoleWolv> SQUIRT A SMALL AMOUNT OF THE RED PEPPER INK ONTO A PAPER TOWEL AND RUB THE INK INTO THE BOX SURFACE. WHILE THE INK IS STILL WET, SQUIRT A SMALL AMOUNT OF CRANBERRY INK ONTO A PAPER TOWEL AND RUB THE INK INTO THE BOX ALONG THE EDGES AND ONTO AN FLAT SPOTS, MAKING SURE NOT TO ENTIRELY COVER THE RED PEPPER INK -- YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A TWO TONE EFFECT. AND THEN GET A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF CARAMEL INK ON A PAPER

<Holly> Is prject two also a paper mache box?

<jhone> yes, holly

<jhone> I have them in three sizes

<NicoleWolv> ALL THE PROJECTS ARE MADE FROM PAPER MACHE BOXES THAT YOU CAN GET FROM JUST JHONE! *GRIN*

<cindyc> i love it

<Kaye> hey all

<deb> WHAT a coincidince!!!

<Kaye> sorry i'm late

<deb> †

<Holly> well waddaya know

<Serene> these boxes are beautiful

cindyc thinks deb is naieve......

<NicoleWolv> BY THE WAY, AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO APPLYING THE INK IS TO APPLY WITH A COTTON BALL...THE STRINGS OF COTTON WILL COME OFF AND GET STUCK IN THE INK AND WILL DRY WITH A TEXTURE....

<Kaye> url please

<deb> http://www.strangecraft.net/CLASSjhone.html

<cindyc> lol

<NicoleWolv> SHAKE A BOTTLE OF LUMIERE PAINT IN METALLIC RUSSETT (AVAILABLE FROM JUST JHONE!) WELL AND REMOVE THE LID. DIP A STIPPLE BRUSH INTO THE LID AND START STIPPLING THE PAINT ALL OVER THE BOX AND THE LID. I HAVE A STIPPLE BRUSH I LIKE TO USE FOR THIS THAT IS KIND OF STIFF....TO THE GET THE EFFECT, I STIPPLE AND THEN DRAG THE STIFF BRISTLES ACROSS THE PAINT, SO YOU GET A LIMITED STREAK EFFECT. LET THE PAINT DRY

<cak> Nice background! (I like texture)

<jhone> I've never stippled those paints - neat idea

<NicoleWolv> WHEN I LEARNED THE INK TECHNIQUE, MY INSTRUCTOR BURNISHED REGULAR CLEAR TAPE ACROSS THE BOX IN STRIPS AND REMOVED BITS OF THE PAPER MACHE BEFORE INKING TO GET MORE TEXTURE....

<NicoleWolv> YOU KNOW I LOVE MY STIPPLE BRUSH! *GRIN*

<NicoleWolv> IN THE MEANTIME, INK UP A QUOTATION STAMP WITH BLACK INK AND STAMP ONTO A SMALL PEICE OF HANDMADE PAPER. TEAR THE EDGES TO FRAY. THE STAMP I USED IS FROM JUST JHONE'S GARDEN GRACES SHEET OF STAMPS, AND SAYS, "IN A WORLD OF SO MANY COPIES...IT'S A JOY TO KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS STILL AN ORIGINAL".

<cak> (hey, I can tear things up--I gotta try that texturizing thing)

<NicoleWolv> SEE, I'M JUST FULL OF WAYS TO DESTROY THINGS! *LOL*

<Libster> Lib listening to Huey Lewis and being happy to be here with her new friends

<cak> lol (you're gonna be my hero from now on)

<NicoleWolv> I HAVE A FUNNY HUEY LEWIS STORY THAT I WILL TELL YOU AFTER CLASS - REMIND ME....

<Libster> OK!

<NicoleWolv> FIGURE OUT WHERE THE HOLES SHOULD BE FOR YOUR SKEWERS. I USED THREE SKEWERS....YOU CAN USE MORE OR LESS, DEPENDING ON THE SIZE AND SHAPE OF YOUR BOX. I PAINTED THE SKEWERS FOR THIS BOX WITH THE RUSSETT LUMIERE PAINT. WHEN THE SKEWERS ARE DRY, INSERT THEM THROUGH THE BOX AND USE E6000 GLUE TO GLUE BEADS TO THE SKEWER ENDS. AFFIX STRIPS OF PAPER TO EACH SKEWER AS DESCRIBED IN PROJECT 1.

<NicoleWolv> SEE, USING BEADS THIS TIME! *GRIN*

<cak> Nichole--could you use eyelets around the holes?

<Sidney> The new Huey Lewis?

<Libster> listning to the only one I know- singing working for a living right now

<NicoleWolv> EYELETS -- ONLY IF YOU HAVE A VERY VERY THIN SKEWER....

<Sidney> oh. He has a new one out

<cak> some of the regular size eyelets might work though

<NicoleWolv> 'CAUSE YOU WANT THE SKEWERED SCROLL TO TURN EASILY

<NicoleWolv> GLUE THE STAMPED PAPER TO THE FRONT OF THE BOX LID, ALONG WITH A TREASURE JEWEL. DOES ANYONE HAVE QUESTIONS, 'CAUSE THAT'S THE END OF PROJECT 2!

<cak> (probably a PITA to set though)

<Libster> SKEWERED SCROLL say that threee times fast

<jhone> nicole, how about another prize?

<cindyc> an easy skew....

<NicoleWolv> SHE SELLS SEASHELLS BY THE SEASHORE!

<jhone> libster, you can't win this time

<Libster> LOL

<Libster> OK

<jhone> has to be someone new ....

<NicoleWolv> OK,...FOR THE PRIZE -- WHAT IS JHONE'S FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPING?

<Libster> wasn't gonna try

<brenda> ok who wants to make one of these and send to me so i can get the picture

<cindyc> cheese

<Debbie> are the skewer holes one on top of the other?

<RubberKin> cheese

<indigojone> mushrooms

<kat> peppers

<brenda> peperoni

<StarofHear> pepperoni

<MaggieB> anchovis

<Debbie> onion

<StarofHear> sausage

<kat> olives

<Kaye> black olives

<cindyc> ham

<indigojone> green pepper

<Rusty> anchovuies

<MaggieB> bacon

<Lory> peperoni

<jhone> kaye got it

<indigojone> bacon

<Debbie> canadian bacon

<Rusty> anchovies

<Kriztina> green olives

<Kaye> yeah

<deb> canadian bacon

<deb> cheese

<jhone> you can stop now ... black olives

<StarofHear> extra cheese

<Sidney> double cheese

<Libster> looks like holes are in even line above one another

<cindyc> ewwwwww my dd likes those

<MaggieB> lol

<deb> YUCK

<StarofHear> my kinda girl

<cak> Yay!

<jhone> kay, email me at jhone@dm.net with your name and addy, please

<Debbie> ty lib

<Kaye> love them right out of the can

<jhone> but now y'all have made me hungry

<Libster> not sure- ask Jhone!!

<Debbie> soooooooooo when's the pizza getting here

<jhone> me, too, Kaye

<NicoleWolv> BRENDA ...IF YOU STAND THE TRIANGLE BOX UP...HOLE SET 1 IS ABOUT 1.5 INCHES FROM THE TOP, HOLE SET 2 IS HALFWAY DOWN FROM THE TOP, AND HOLE SET 3 IS ABOUT 1.5 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM

<brenda> oh ok

<brenda> got that

<brenda> ty

<NicoleWolv> YEAH, THEY'RE IN LINE

<Holly> If you do one hole first, then the second hole later you will probably have a better chance of lining them up

<brenda> this looks so neat

<jhone> I love the idea of three scrolls in one box

<Libster> I love this box!!!

<Holly> anyone who makes one can send me one

<cindyc> oh, how about a shelf with a sarcophgus (sp) sitting on it above a scroll? kewlies

<Libster> LOL

jhone thinks nicole is VERY creative

<NicoleWolv> I MEASURE EVERYTHING SO THINGS LINE UP REALLY WELL.....THE SKEWERS LOOK WEIRD IF THEY DON'T LINE UP WELL

<Libster> Lib agrees

<Debbie> oh definitely

<NicoleWolv> NICOLE THINKS SHE IS BLUSHING!

<Libster> Nicole very creative

<Sidney> This would be great for my Ruth thingy........

<Holly> if you just measure though, you are betting the box is straight

<Libster> Lib runs over.......... YES! Nicole is blushing!!!

<jhone> holly, some things you ahve to take on trust

<NicoleWolv> OK, THIS IS TRUE...THE BOXES ARE NOT ALWAYS PERFECT.....

<Holly> not dissing your boxes Jhone

<jhone> <G>

<cindyc> love it

<Sidney> Perfect=no character

<NicoleWolv> BUT THEYA RE CLOSE ENOUGH! *GRIN*

<jhone> if they aren't straight, no one will notice

<NicoleWolv> PROJECT 3 IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS PROJECTS -- IT DOESN'T INVOLVE A STATIONARY SCROLL OR DYE INK. THE THIRD PROJECT IS THE LITTLE HEXAGON BOX. FIRST THING WE'RE GOING TO DO IS PRIME THE BOX WITH A THIN LAYER OF WHITE OR BEIGE GESSO. I USED LIQUITEX BLEACHED TITANIUM GESSO. JUST GIVE THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX A THIN COAT AND LET IT DRY COMPLETELY.

<Holly> if anyone makes one and doesn't like it cause it's crooked, send it to me. I won't care

<NicoleWolv> SEE, I FINALLY GET TO USE GESSO!

<cindyc> syd not true... lol

<Sidney> <--- wondering what Gesso is...

<cindyc> prof. base coat paint.. lol

Holly bets Jhone has the gesso

<jhone> sidney, gesso is a fancy name for a primer coat

<Libster> Ooooooo I saw the 'W' word (wait)

<Sidney> lol Ohhhhhhhh

<jhone> nope, I don't sell gesso, holly

<cak> ol

<jhone> nicole might

<jhone> she likes to paint EVERYTHING with gesso, including her new wedding rings

<Libster> LOL

<NicoleWolv> NOT ME! I'M STRICTLY STAMPS AND JOURNALS!

<Sidney> I live in the trailer park part of town...we use primer

<MaggieB> titanium gesso?

jhone wonders if she has painted her husband yet

<NicoleWolv> THE GESSO IS FROM LIQUITEX...NAMED BLEACHED TITANIUM...

<NicoleWolv> THE HUSBAND, BTW, HAS STARTED PAINTING -- HE HAS HIS OWN GESSO ISSUES! *LOL*

<Libster> So Nicole is a bleached gesso gal???

<Sidney> I would imaging if Jhone has painted her husband, he'd be in your gallery on your website adorned with treasure jewls?

<NicoleWolv> GIVE THE INSIDE OF THE BOX AND UNDERSIDE OF THE LID A COATING OF GOLDEN GLAZE IN SLATE. LET IT DRY COMPLETELY. IN THE MEANTIME, INK UP A FEW STAMPS IN BLACK DYE INK AND STAMP ONTO NATURAL COLORED TISSUE PAPER. I USED THE PANEL STAMPS FROM JUST JHONE'S GARDEN GRACES SHEET, AND ALSO A STAMP FROM THE SAME SHEET THAT SAYS "BEAUTY".

<jhone> Jhone has NOT painted her husband

<NicoleWolv> NOW THERE IS A VISUAL -- JHONE'S HUSBAND BEJEWELED IN TREASURE JEWELS!

<deb> poor Wells

<deb> it COULD be fun!

<cindyc> gives new meaning to the family jewels...

<jenmist> only in jewels?

<jhone> not glue, though

<deb> LOL

<Libster> LOL cindy

<NicoleWolv> CUT EACH IMAGE OUT CAREFULLY. USING THE DIRECT-TO-PAPER METHOD, COVER THE OUTSIDE OF THE GESSO'D BOX WITH TWO DIFFERENT COLORS OF LIGHT-ISH BLUE PIGMENT INK (I USED COLORBOX ROBIN'S EGG AND PEACOCK). LET IT DRY COMPLETELY (IT MIGHT HELP TO EXPEDITE DRYING TIME BY USING A HEAT GUN TO HEAT SET THE INK).

<jenmist> spit?

<jhone> jen, maybe caramel?

<Libster> Hi evo!

<evo> :}> Lib

<NicoleWolv> THE JEWELS WOULD STICK PRETTY WELL IN CARAMEL! *GRIN*

<jenmist> yes- that would work

<jenmist> or melted nekkid balls

<cindyc> tmi

<Libster> evo, is that a big grin, or are you just glad to see me?

<NicoleWolv> WHAT THE H*%& IS A MELTED NEKKID BALL?

<jenmist> ROFL

<cindyc> neked balls and treasured jewels? lol

<deb> lol

<evo> lol, Lib... both

<jhone> Nicole, we'll tell you later

<Libster> Lib tells Nicole not to go there

<kat> i was thinking the same thing nicole

<NicoleWolv> GIVE THE LID A VERY THIN COATING OF PVA GLUE (PPA ALSO WORKS FOR THIS). CAREFULLY ARRANGE THE PANEL STRIP IMAGES INTO A PLEASING CONFIGURATION OVER THE GLUE, AND LIGHTLY AND CAREFULLY "BURNISH" THE IMAGES INTO THE GLUE (ALL THAT MEANS IS THAT YOU NEED TO PRESS THE TISSUE PAPER INTO THE GLUE, MAKING SURE YOU DON'T RIP THE PANELS IN HALF).

<NicoleWolv> GLAD I'M NOT THE ONLY NAIVE ONE AROUND HERE! *HOLDS HER VIRGIN EARS*

<cindyc> syd. i am being good.. really.. lol!!!!

<Libster> Lib holding her ears again Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

<brenda> nicole the tissue does it need to be art tissue?

<NicoleWolv> NO...IT CAN BE ANY OLD TISSUE YOU PICK UP AT THE HALLMARK STORE (LIKE YOU GUYS GO TO THE HALLMARK STORE, RIGHT?)

<brenda> ok ty

<NicoleWolv> AS LONG AS IT IS BEIGE/NATURAL

<brenda> k ty

<cindyc> twould be a sin nicole....

<kat> Dollar store is much cheaper

<evo> tp tissue?

<Sidney> nope... get tissue at dollar store

<Kaye> love the dollar store

<NicoleWolv> NOT TOILET PAPER!!!!!!

<evo> argggggghhhhh

<Sidney> They have stamp pads and deco scissors there too

<NicoleWolv> SHOULD BE THE KIND OF TISSUE PAPER YOU WRAP GIFTS IN!

evo has a LOT of tp tissue

<brenda> got ya

<NicoleWolv> BRUSH ANOTHER VERY THIN COATING OVER TOP OF THE TISSUE IMAGES, TRIMMING AN EXCESS TISSUE PAPER AWAY. REPEAT THIS PROCESS ON THE SIDES OF THE HEXAGON BOX, THIS TIME USING THE "BEAUTY" WORDS ON EACH PANEL. LET THE GLUE DRY COMPLETELY. THE IDEA HERE IS THAT THE TISSUE PAPER WILL DISAPPEAR, LEAVING ONLY THE IMAGE IMPRINT.

<brenda> oh neat

<jhone> much easier to stamp on tissue than the durn box

<jhone> right?

<NicoleWolv> MAKES IT MUCH EASIER TO "STAMP" ON WEIRD SHAPES AND TEXTURED SURFACES

<cindyc> def.

<jhone> besides if you screw up the stamping, you can toss that piece and try again

<Libster> Wow! You are so smart!

<RubberKin> Nicole when you said to brush another thin coating over the top of the tissue are you talking about the gesso?

<NicoleWolv> SING IT JHONE! *GRIN*

<Libster> That is really a good idea!!

<NicoleWolv> NO, TALKING ABOUT THE PVA GLUE!

<RubberKin> ok thanks

<jhone> Nicole, are the scrolls just nested in the bottom of the box?

<NicoleWolv> YEP...I'M GETTING THERE! *GRIN*

<jhone> oh, oops

<jhone> sorry

<NicoleWolv> YOU CAN SEE INSIDE THE BOX ARE JUST SCROLLS OF PAPER WRAPPED AROUND SKEWERS CUT TO FIT INSIDE THE BOX. PREPARE THEM IN MUCH THE SAME WAY THE OTHER SCROLLS ARE PREPARED.

<NicoleWolv> SEE, TOLD YA! *LOL*

<Libster> LOL

<Libster> Lib gives Jhone a hub

<jhone> but they aren't fastened in?

<jhone> ty, lib

<Libster> a hub is a big hug

<NicoleWolv> I RECENTLY GAVE A BOX LIKE THIS TO MY HUSBAND FOR OUR ANNIVERSARY...THIS IS SO CHEESY, BUT I PUT A REASON WHY I LOVE HIM ON EACH SCROLL...OK, SO WE'RE DORKS!

<jhone> you only have THREE reasons?

<Libster> that is very romantic!!

<brenda> sounds sweet

<NicoleWolv> NO, THE SCROLLS ARE FASTENED AT ALL...JUST LAID IN THE BOTTOM

<cak> that's sweet (and wonderful)

<Libster> My DH would love that!

<NicoleWolv> I HAD MORE THAN THREE SCROLLS! *GRIN*

jhone thinks maybe later you will have more reason

<cindyc> good for you nichole! †

<jhone> ok, good

<jhone> it's not cheesy

<NicoleWolv> GLUE BEADS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX FOR LEGS AND A TREASURE JEWEL TO THE FRONT PANEL AND UNDERSIDE OF THE LID AND YOU ARE OFFICIALLY DONE WITH PROJECT 3!

<jhone> it's sweet (nauseating, maybe, but sweet) <G>

<NicoleWolv> I AGREE WITH NAUSEATING....I COULD BARELY STAND MYSELF

<Dickk> That is so sweet.......we need more things like that these days.

<Libster> really

<jhone> geez, I think Nicole must have a date ... she's rushing us so

<NicoleWolv> HEY ITS THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY.....*GRIN*

<RubberKin> Very cool I love the boxes Nicole thanks!!

<Sidney> are there transcripts of this class available?

<brenda> happy anniversary

<NicoleWolv> YOU'RE WELCOME....NOT RUSHING...JUST WANTED TO HAVE TIME TO ANSWER QUESTIONS!

<cindyc> great ideas

<NicoleWolv> TRUST ME, I WAS HOPING TO WIN TICKETS TO THE U2 CONCERT TONIGHT...THEN I'D BE RUSHING YOU!

<cindyc> super presentations

<cak> I"m logging the class. If you'll email me at cak@dm.net, I can send you one

<cindyc> friendly instruction

<jhone> y'all be sure to check my convention booth ...

<cindyc> and free

<jhone> http://www.cyberstampers.com/convention/justjhone/index.html

<NicoleWolv> AND THE TRANSCRIPT WILL BE AVAILABLE WITH THE REST OF THE CLASS TRANSCRIPTS FROM MY CLASSES HERE:
