<kat> hi cak

<cak> just hangin' around til class starts

<kat> there is class tonite isn't there

<cak> I think so

<cak> hey susie

<Susie> hi

<kat> hi susie

<kat> hi keri

<cak> *now* we're startin' to look like a class

<kat> hi scout, glitr & Kriz

<Scout> where's the class tonite

<Janet> here

<glitrbug> Hi! I forget what class is tonite

<cak> Shoudl be here I think==traditionally at least

<Janet> thanks heather

<kat> hi janet, welcome home

<Janet> thanks

<glitrbug> How was the big trip?

<Scout> Oh, goodie.....Let me ask a question of the experts before everything starts

<Janet> great, I had a blast

<keribou> ask Scout

<brenda> hello everyone

<KzooCat> hello!

<Janet> hey kzoo and Brenda

<brenda> heya janet

<brenda> hey kzoocat

<cindyc> i guess class is in here eh?

<brenda> yep

<Janet> hey Cindy. I got my domino, it's more awesome in person than on the web page

<brenda> hey cindy and neetzl

<neetzl> Hi there!

<brenda> i got mine too janet

<brenda> it is awesome

<cindyc> hey janet welcome back to THE states

<brenda> i am goibng to definately make one

<Janet> Scout, you had a question?

<Scout> You know those big rubber stamps by Rubbur Stampede, that fit on the curved handle for walls? Well, I picked up one in the sale pile at Michaels today that had separated, the plastic cover had come off the top and the sticky stuff on top of the grey cushion was all unsticky.

<keribou> is there a url for class?

<glitrbug> I played dominoes last night with friends. i don't suppose they are going to let me have them to decorate now...

<Janet> I just have one bad photo. http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg

<Scout> Would you guys glue it back on with ......rubber cement? ......crystal Lac....? What?

<brenda> bad???/

<Janet> I'd do it with rubber cement

<brenda> i love those

<glitrbug> Rubber cement works

<Janet> the eggs are stunning, the photo is bad

<cak> I'd go with RC also--it is more reversible

<neetzl> Wow, those eggs are beautiful.

<KzooCat> great eggs!

<Janet> i'd do rubber cement since that's what you usually mount stamps with

<cindyc> pretty janet.. i did the polished stone method on ours last year with the neighborhood kids

<Janet> a couple of those are polished stone, shamelessly stolen from you

<cindyc> lol

<brenda> lol

<Janet> Oh and I have one other photo of a bead egg in progress. http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/egg1.jpg

<brenda> brb

cindyc is so eggstra-rich she didn't even notice a few more gone...

<Scout> I was so p.....d. It was marked down to 3.50, the only one they had left and I asked the lady if she'd take any more off cause of it's condition. She said it was already marked down, the reason for the markdown was cause it was defective and if I had doubts about buying it, maybe I should buy it after all.......in a real snotty

<Janet> the plan for class tonight is I'll start telling you about what I did this afternoon (other than make a mess) then you will give me more and more ideas!

<Scout> voice......Grrrrrr.....She finally took off another 10 %.

<Vyx> ack, sorry I'm late. I'm sitting in the other room yakking.

<cindyc> scout i bought a bunch of those at hobby lobby last week for 3.50 apeice all still in perfect shape

<Scout> I know......I've gotten others.

<kat> I wish we had a hobby lobby

<cindyc> beaded one looks great other than that conspicuous clear bead... <G>

<Janet> LOL yeah and I'm not gonna fix it either

<Janet> it's too high up

<Vyx> url?

<cindyc> don't blame ya.. i am sure you MEANT to put it there

<Janet> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/egg1.jpg is the bead egg (in progress)

<Janet> and http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg is the other eggs

<Janet> Oh yes, that's it. I meant to put it there

<Vyx> Oooh!

<Janet> I'm thinking about maybe painting it or something.<g>

<cindyc> a diamond in the rough? a blue bead wanna be?

<kat> it's that one little thing that makes it HandCrafted!

cindyc wonders if there are clear ones on the other side.....

<Janet> I'M SURE THAT IF i THINK LONG ENOUGH I CAN THINK OF SOME LONG DRAWN OUT ALLEGORY OR SOMETHING FOR THE ONE CLEAR BEAD

<Vyx> I love that beaded one. I might try that... have tons of lil beads.

<cak> or just say you're part Navaho--they leave intentional errors so they don't usurp the gods

<Janet> THE BEADED ONE IS EMBARRASSINGLY EASY

<cindyc> good one cak

<Janet> OH THAT'S GOOD. I THINK I'LL USE THAT

<kat> I like that cak, I think I'll try it sometime

<Scout> Hey, c ak......that would solve a lot of our problems with mistakes. I'm gonna keep that for reference.

<cak> (it covers an embarrassing amount of mistakes too)

<Vyx> yah, good point... all mistakes are intentional. :)

<Janet> WHEN YOU GET A HANK OF SEED BEADS, THEY'RE SORT OF STRUNG, NOT WHERE YOU COULD ACTUALLY USE THEM THAT WAY, BUT ON STRINGS AND IF YOU'RE CAREFUL THE STRING WON'T BREAK IN THE TIME IT TAKES YOU TO WRAP IT AROUND AN EGG COATED WITH DRIES-CLEAR GLUE

<Janet> DEB IS HERE!! WOO HOO!!

<deb-AFK> lost

<deb-AFK> but I didn't get to go janet

<neetzl> Is Dries-Clear the name brand of the glue?

<deb-AFK> I'm sick

<Janet> OH. NO, A NUMBER OF GLUES WILL DO THIS, JUST ANY ONE THAT WILL DRY CLEAR

<Janet> AIG OR CRYSTAL LACQUER OR UH NAME ME SOME OTHERS?

<neetzl> ty

<Vyx> Like Jewel-it or glitter glue.

<Janet> YEAH

<cindyc> still rough huh deb?

<deb-AFK> I can't stay -this migraine is horrid

<cindyc is sad for her friend deb

<deb-AFK> sorry I can't stay

<Scout> Deb, spring is coming.....All sickness is banished.

<deb-AFK> janet will show you my eggs

<deb-AFK> bye

<Janet> I WILL.

<cak> poor deb

<Janet> SO ANYWAY, ANY QS ON THE BEAD EGG? IT'S JUST SEED BEADS GLUED TO THE EGG

<Vyx> Did you paint it first?

<cak> do you have any problems getting full coverage?

<vicki> sorry i was late, url,please?

<Vyx> Is it a real egg or a paper mache one?

<KzooCat> do you glue and bead one end first, then the other?

<Janet> YOU CAN ALSO MAKE THEM WITH THE HOLELESS BEADZ, THAT'S EVEN EASIER, YOU DUMP THE BEADZ IN A BOWL, COVER OVER THE EGG WITH GLUE AND ROLL IT IN THE BEADZ

<Janet> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/egg1.jpg

<Scout> My hub and daughter have had them for years, but until you get one yourself, you just can't imagine the pain of a migraine. I've only had a couple, thank goodness.

<vicki> ty

<Janet> THAT'S THE BEAD EGG

<cindyc> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg

<cindyc> oops

<Janet> AND THAT OTHER ONE IS THE OTHER EGGS

<Janet> (CINDY I WAS GONNA TYPE THAT NEXT<G>)

<neetzl> Can you cover those plastic eggs?

<Janet> YEP AND NOBODY WILL EVER KNOW THEY'RE THREE DOZEN FOR A BUCK

<cindyc> ok

<Janet> IF THEY'RE COVERED OVER

<cindyc> 36 for a buck is good

<Janet> MOST OF THE ONES I DID ARE BLOWN OUT EGGS, AND SOME PAPER MACHE EGGS

<Vyx> So what did you use, Janet? The plastic kind?

<Janet> THE BEADS IS ON A REAL EGG

<Janet> THE POLISHED STONE ONES ON THE OTHER PAGE IS REAL EGGS. THE OTHERS ARE MACHE

<Janet> BUT I GOT SOME PLASTIC EGGS, I'M GONNA COAT SOME WITH ENCHANTED INK TISSUE

<cak> ooooo, that'll be beautiful!

<Janet> IF I WANTED TO BE ANAL I COULD DO THEM WHERE THEY'LL STILL SEPARATE, BUT i'LL PROBABLY RUN TAPE OVER THE MIDDLE AND JUST COVER THEM WHOLE

<cak> yeah, if you could open them, you'd probably feel compelled to cover the inside too

<Janet> YEP, YOU KNOW IT

<vicki> lol

<Vyx> lol

<kat> lol cak

<kat> that would be really anal

<Janet> AND THEN IT WILL BE A FOURTH OF JULY EGG BY THE TIME I ACTUALLY LET GO OF IT

<KzooCat> :)

<cak> lol

<Janet> I COULDN'T FIND MY PHOTOS FROM LAST YEAR, LAST YEAR I DID GLITTER EGGS, THOSE WERE EASY AND FUN

<cak> If you tape it up, I think you should put something to rattle in there--drive everyone crazy

<kat> good idea

<Janet> COVERED OVER THE EGG WITH GLUE AND THEN ROLLED IT IN VARIOUS COLORS OF GLITTER

<kat> a jingle bell

<Susie> My daughter would love that.

<Janet> LOL

<Janet> OR ONE OF THOSE PEEP THINGS THAT CHIRPS

<Janet> THAT WOULD BE FUN

<vicki> my cat would steal it

<beanjean1> I want to try those eggs from the carol duvall show with the washi paper

<Janet> WHAT WERE THOSE, JEAN

<Vyx> I tried that with glass ornament... a lot of work!

<beanjean1> did you vyx?

<beanjean1> did it look cool?

<Vyx> No, actually I thought it was ugly, lol.

<kat> lol

<Janet> LOL

<beanjean1> oh no!

<Vyx> I liked my clay covered ornaments better.

<beanjean1> well janet

<beanjean1> they took a wooden egg

<Janet> I DID TWO WITH ENCHANTED INK PAPER, BUT THEY WEREN'T DRY ENOUGH TO PHOTO

<cak> did you tear and collage the paper or do it all of a piece like the washi ones?

<[the log is interrupted here for a short time.]

<beanjean1> well, I think part of it was using the washi paper

<Janet> THE ENCHANTED INK PAPER I JUST RIPPED IN PIECES AND FUTURE FLOOR WAXED ON

<Scout> Amy!!!!! you got me all excited.......for nothing, boo hoo!

<beanjean1> but I think red's tissue would do the same

<Vyx> It was really easy. You will lose some of the pattern of the paper

<neetzl> OK, I think I missed something. Did you use Future floor wax as an adhesive?

<beanjean1> didn't she use a toothpick or something to put the glue on

<Janet> THAT IS MY SPECIAL HINT OF THE EVENING (STOLEN FROM REDSTICK A COUPLE YEARS AGO)... WHEN YOU WANT TO COVER AN ODD-SHAPED OBJECT WITH TISSUE LIKE HERS?

<Vyx> I didn't see eggs done, but round glass ornaments. I imagine the tech is basically the same.

<Janet> RIP IT IN PIECES AND THEN THE FOLDS AND PIECING DOESN'T SHOW A BIT

<beanjean1> yep it is Vyx, saw em both

<AmyLPR> is this on a real egg?

<beanjean1> yep janet....

<cak> (a *cheap* adhesive too)

<beanjean1> amy I believe thses that I saw were wooden

<Janet> AMY, MOST OF MINE WERE REAL EGGS, SOME WERE PAPER MACHE

<AmyLPR> oh

<Chels> I'm late...could somebody throw up the example addy for me?

<cak> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg

<KzooCat> you did polished stone on a real egg shell?

<beanjean1> but I believe that you could choose any of the above

<Chels> Thanks Cak

<cak> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/egg1.jpg

<Janet> I LOOKED AT THE WOODEN EGGS BUT DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND 79 CENTS EACH ON 'EM

<beanjean1> well

<Janet> YES, POLISHED STONE ON A REAL EGG SHELL WORKS GREAT!

<Janet> IT WAS SO GORGEOUS

<beanjean1> if you get them on sale....

<Vyx> and paper mache were pretty inexpensive?

<beanjean1> AND they don't BREAK

<Janet> WELL, THEY WERE 50 CENTS EACH, BUT YEAH, THEY DON'T BREAK

<kat> has anyone tried the new alcohol inks

<beanjean1> and aren't lumpy like some of the paper mache

<Janet> FOR WHAT, KAT?

<beanjean1> hi maggie

<MaggieB-AF> hey

MaggieB-AFK sneaking in

<kat> for the polished stone technique

<Janet> OH. NO, I JUST USED THE TRIA ONES

<cindyc still uses her cheap rit dye recipe

<Janet> BUT YEAH, POLISHED STONE TECHNIQUE WORKS GREAT ON EGGS

<kat> i want to try that cindy

<Vyx> I think I'm gonna try the beaded one... only my beads aren't on hanks, so I'll do the glue and roll em.

<Janet> PAPER MACHE ONES YOU NEED TO SEAL WITH GESSO OR SOMETHING FIRST

<KzooCat> that's cool

<Vyx> like with beadz. only holes. :)

<Janet> http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/egg1.jpg IS THE BEADED EGG, MAGGIE

<MaggieB-AF> ty

<Chels> Okay...so you used PStone tech. on hardboiled eggs?...or blown out eggs?

<Janet> AND http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg IS THE REST OF 'EM

<MaggieB-AF> were you reading my mind?

<AmyLPR> Susie, you need to email me for your trivia prize

<Janet> MINE WERE BLOWN OUT EGGS

<Janet> I HYPERVENTILATED. I HATE BLOWING OUT EGGS

<cindyc> mine were hard boiled but we didn't eat em

<Chels> Me too

<kat> you can buy a cool little tool for blowing out the eggs

<kat> works really good

<brenda> dont they sell something to use the faucet to blow out the egg?

<brenda> yeah

<Janet> PAPER MACHE LOOKED REAL ATTRACTIVE AFTER BLOWING A DOZEN EGGS

<AmyLPR> lol

<Chels> What is the tool?

<Chels> Kat?

<brenda> i saw it in a magazine

<Janet> YEAH, THIS I WANNA KNOW

<kat> you can find it wherever they sell the supplies for Ukranian Egg making

<beanjean1> no kidding?

<Chels> Ukranian Egg making?

<Chels> Huh?

<Scout> Tool name, cause I almost black out when I've had to blow them the old way.

<AmyLPR> pasanka

<brenda> you just hook it to faucet

<Janet> I'VE DONE UKRANIAN EGGS, BUT EVEN I WASN'T THAT ANAL THIS TIME

<Chels> Pasanka is the name of the tool?

<kat> It has a needle you insert and a thing you squeeze that blows air through the needle

<cak> I think that Chinaberry sells it as part of their egg decorating kit (the more expensive one of course)

<AmyLPR> no pasanka are ukranian easter eggs

<Chels> Oh

<kat> i have not seen the one you hook to the fawcet

<Janet> I JUST DRILL BIG HONKING HOLES WITH THE DREMEL DRILL. THEN MAKE DECORATIVE SEALS FOR THE TOP AND BOTTOM AND SAY i MEANT IT TO BE THAT WAY

<AmyLPR> martha stewart seels one too

<brenda> cant remember how long ago that was

<AmyLPR> err sells one

<Chels> Oh...thanks Amy

<Janet> ANYBODY BESIDES ME MAKE CASCARONES?

<Janet> YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BIG HOLE FOR THOSE

<kat> what are cascarones

<brenda> what is that?

<Chels> Tell me what one is?

<MaggieB-AF> cascarowhats?

<beanjean1> what?

<cak> no, but I've always wanted to

<Janet> CASCARONES. OH WOW I ACTUALLY GET TO TEACH SOMETHING!!!

<MaggieB-AF> lol

<AmyLPR> are those confetti eggs?

<brenda> yessss

<Chels> Cascarones...big balls

<MaggieB-AF> cool!

<MaggieB-AF> janet is gonna TEACH!

<brenda> hey evo

<Janet> CASCARONES ARE A VERY OLD TRADITION, THEY USED TO BE FILLED WITH PERFUME, THEN THE LADIES WOULD SMASH 'EM ON THE HEADS OF THE MEN THEY LIKED

<Chels> Hey...ya got big cascarones!

<MaggieB> hey i like cascarones!

<cak> (scent marking)

<Janet> BUT NOW TRADITION IS YOU FILL THEM WITH CONFETTI

<Chels> Ha...I like the head smashing part

<Janet> (YEAH, JUST LIKE TOM CATS)

MaggieB just likes the idea of smashing them on men's heads, lol

<brenda> oh right now i need that

<beanjean1> lol brenda

AmyLPR made soap eggs

<Janet> THESE CAN BE REALLY ELABORATE... YOU CAN BUY THEM IN HISPANIC COMMUNITIES WITH A LONG HANDLE, EVEN WITH DRESSES AND ALL ON THE STICK PART

<MaggieB> so what do these things look like janet?

<Chels> They don't sound like they smash very good Amy

<Janet> THEY LOOK HOWEVER YOU MAKE THEM.

<Janet> LAST YEAR I MADE ELVIS CASCARONES.

<Chels> Elvis Balls?

<Janet> STAMPED ELVIS ON THE FRONT OF THE EGG...

<Chels> Leg?

<Scout> I did that once and did it on the head of my girl friend in a craft class. I had told her ahead of time. The only thing was, I had put so much gloss on it, it took quite a blow to break it and it really looked as it I were braining her. Made me feel guilty for weeks. All the women in class were aghast.

<AmyLPR> lol they don't

<MaggieB> <I just noticed deb is missing... did she go to bed?>

<Chels> We run 'er off

<Janet> (YOU ROLL THE EGG ON THE STAMP RATHER THAN STAMP THE EGG, IT WORKS BETTER THAT WAY)

<MaggieB> ggod!

<MaggieB> ty chels

<Chels> Seems like every time I enter a room...folks leave

<MaggieB> so they are made with real eggs?

<Chels> Why do you think that is?

<Janet> AND FILLED IT WITH GUITARS AND LITTLE PALM TREES AND FLAMINGOS, ELVIS STYLE CONFETTI

<MaggieB> lol chels

<beanjean1> chels, that's not true

<MaggieB> cool janet!

<Janet> AND YES, THESE ARE MADE WITH REAL EGGS, SO THEY SMASH

<beanjean1> cool janet

<brenda> chels need a bath?

<MaggieB> so how do we start these?

beanjean1 is paying ATTENTION

<MaggieB> i take it they need to be blown?

Chels smells under her arms

<brenda> lol

<Janet> AND I DID HAVE BIG HOLES IN THE ENDS, HAD TO FOR TA GET THE CONFETTI INSIDE

<beanjean1> lol back to blowing eggs!!

<brenda> janet when you blow your eggs do you stir them?

<Janet> BUT I TIED A BLUE SUEDE RIBBON AROUND THEM TO HIDE THE HOLES

<MaggieB> so size of hole is what you need?

<Janet> YEAH, THEY BLOW EASIER IF YOU SHAKE THEM AND BREAK THE YOLK FIRST

<brenda> k

<brenda> ty

<Janet> THEN FILL THEM WITH CONFETTI, THEN DECORATE THEM HOWEVER YOU WANT

<Scout> Be in good shape or you'll have a heart attack!

<Janet> THIS IS IMPORTANT, LISTEN UP...

<MaggieB> so whatever you need to get the confetti in make the hole?

<brenda> k

<Janet> PUT THE CONFETTI IN BEFORE YOU DECORATE THE EGG.

<brenda> ah ok

<MaggieB> reaso?

<beanjean1> why????

<Chels> Inquiring minds want to know

<Janet> IF YOU THINK YOU CAN PUT CONFETTI IN WITHOUT OCCASIONALLY BREAKING YOUR BESTEST ONE, YOU ARE DELUDING YOURSELF

<MaggieB> lol

<brenda> so you dont waste time if it busts?

<Janet> TRUST ME ON THIS ONE

<MaggieB> oh i see

<brenda> k

<MaggieB> so if it breaks just get another one

<Janet> YEP

<Chels> Ahhh...the voice of experience

<MaggieB> without crying too hard

<MaggieB> k

<MaggieB> works

<Janet> AND IF YOU GET A LITTLE EGG SHELL IN WITH THE CONFETTI YOU SWEEP UP. OH WELL. JUST MORE DIFFERENT CONFETTI IN THE MIX, RIGHT?

<Chels> Janet, could ya blow my eggs out for me?

<brenda> roflol

<Janet> SURE, CHELS, JUST POINT THE ENDS TOWARDS THE SOUTH AND I'LL START HUFFING

<brenda> roflol

<Chels> I'll buy ya a dozen and you can keep 6 for blowin out my 6

Chels is the almighty big spender

<MaggieB> so blow out the egg, stuff it with confetti, and then decorate as one wants?

<Janet> YOU CAN REALLY GO TO TOWN ON THESE. SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE DO PUT THESE ON DOWEL RODS, ADD SHOULDERS, SOMETIMES ARMS, ALL SORTS OF THINGS

<MaggieB> so how do we repair the holes?

<Chels> Yeah...just stuff it Maggie

<Janet> DRESS THEM. MAKE FANCY HEAD DRESSES FOR THEM

<MaggieB> k...

<Janet> MAGGIE, PUT HAIR ON 'EM AND HIDE THE HOLES

<Vyx> Glue a pretty piece of paper over the end?

<Chels> Oh no...egg dolls!

<MaggieB> what are they called again?

<kat> and where did this custom come from

<evo> Do you let the inside of the egg dry out first, Janet?

<Janet> OR I MADE DECORATIVE STICKERS FOR MINE.

<MaggieB> casa whats?

<Janet> CASCARONES

<Chels> Big cahones

<Janet> (CAJONES IS BALLS, BUT DON'T TELL CHELS)

<Chels> I told ya big balls a long time ago

<beanjean1> I've heard of this before....but I can't remember where

<Chels> We all know that's what you're makin

<kat> and where did this custom come from

<Chels> Italians

<Janet> AND YEAH, THE ELVIS ONES, I RAN A BLUE SUEDE RIBBON AROUND AND HID THE HOLES

<Chels> Janet's got way too much time on her hands

<Janet> THIS IS A VERY OLD, LIKE MEDIEVAL TIMES, SPANISH CUSTOM

<Vyx> I would have liked to see one of the Elvis cascarones. That sounds cute.

<MaggieB> hey i found some !!

beanjean1 doesn't know many italians....

<Chels> Ha Vyx

<MaggieB> http://www.library.arizona.edu/images/folkarts/cascarones.html

<beanjean1> hi kaye

<Janet> WHERE THE LADIES OF THE CASTLE WOULD MAKE THEIR EGGS AND FILL THEM WITH PERFUME

<Scout> sounds raunchy, Vyx

<MaggieB> bart simpson cacarone!

<Chels> Which was the idea

<Vyx> lol

<Janet> THEN CRACK THEM ON THE HEADS OF THE MEN THEY WERE AFTER

<cindyc> nite

<Chels> I can't see crackin a man's head with big cajones

<KzooCat> now that they are not filled with perfume...

<Chels> Are they his own cajones

<Vyx> Or at least make him smell better... back then people never bathed.

<KzooCat> who do you smash them on??

<Chels> His own cajones are gonna hurt

<Janet> THIS IS JUST A CUSTOM NOW, IS A FUN ONE.

<KzooCat> sounds cool - not familiar with it

<Vyx> Go to the park and have a cascarone fight

<Janet> YOUR KIDS OR GRANDKIDS WOULD LOVE MAKING THESE, AND REALLY A TON OF FUN ON EASTER MORNING TO CRACK THEM ON YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS' HEADS

<MaggieB> seems to be big in the southwest and in mexico janet!

<Janet> BUT YOU CAN GO WILD WITH THESE.

<MaggieB> hence TEXAS

<beanjean1> lol

<beanjean1> dang

<Scout> not if they put as much paint on them as I did. Whammo!

<Chels> Texans don't have a whole lot else to do

<Janet> YES, WE'VE ALWAYS DONE IT, AND I DON'T HAVE ANY HISPANIC BACKGROUND AT ALL. IT IS JUST A REGIONAL THING

<beanjean1> would've been fun at home with my six siblings!!!!

<Chels> Play with cow patties...

<evo> Do you let the insides dry out first, Janet?

<Chels> & now cajones

<Janet> EVO, YES, LET THE INSIDES DRY OUT REAL GOOD. OR ELSE THE CONFETTI MIGHT STICK TO THE SIDES

<Janet> AND YOU REALLY WANT IT FLYING

<evo> k

<Vyx> gooey confetti, not pretty

<Chels> Ugh

<vicki> eeeewwwww

<beanjean1> oh my mom is going to LOVE this

<Janet> NOW LOOK ON MY BAD PHOTO? THE http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg ONE?

<Chels> Mine wouldn't

<beanjean1> maybe I'll do this for easter

<Janet> SEE THE COOL METALLIC EGGS, THE GOLD ONES?

<Chels> Yeah

<Janet> THOSE WERE STIPPLE BRUSHED WITH LUMIERE PAINT

<Janet> FAST AND EASY

<Janet> THEY ARE REALLY STUNNING IN PERSON

<Chels> What's the pink & gold one?

<evo> eggs are people???????? :{<>

<Janet> THAT'S LUMIERE STIPPLED, CHELSEA

<Chels> Only Janet's eggs

<Chels> All of em

<Chels> ?

<Janet> NO, SOME OF THESE ARE MY NEW PATENTED DTE TECHNIQUE

<cak> do you use anything to mask the stippling, like with your stipple skies? Solid coverage or airbrush-like?

<Janet> THOSE WITH THE PAINT I JUST STIPPLED BUT NOT SOLID SO THEY HAD TEXTURE

<evo> ohhhhh, neat Janet...

<Janet> THE MUTED LOOKING ONES?

<Janet> THOSE ARE D T E

<evo> and do you have a polished egg too?

<Chels> I like the lumiere on the eggs

<evo> patent?

<Janet> AS IN... DIRECT TO EGG TECHNIQUE

<AmyLPR> Janet, i want one

<Chels> Yeah...we got the DTE

<Janet> OKAY SO I MADE THAT UP ABOUT HOW THIS IS MY SPECIAL TECHNIQUE, IT WAS DTP ONLY DIRECT TO EGG INSTEAD OF PAPER

<AmyLPR> but it wouldn't survive the mail

<cak> pigment ink or dye ink for the DTE?

<Chels> I want the pink & purple one

<AmyLPR> lol

<Janet> I USED DYE. YOU COULD USE WHATEVER YOU HAD

<Janet> AND, THIS IS SO SAD...

<Chels> What?

<Janet> MY BESTEST DTE ONE, IT WAS SO COOL...

<cak> (I keep wanting to dip everything in UTEE)

<Janet> I DID WITH PIGMENT INK...

<Chels> It broke..didn't it?

<Scout> gettin' ready to cry...

<Janet> AND THEN I FLECKED EMBOSSING POWDER ON IT, TO MAKE TEXTURED SPECKLES

<AmyLPR> http://www.triadntr.net/allukes/Supplies/Blowers.htm has the blowers

<Janet> IT BROKE. WHEN I TOOK THE HEAT GUN TO IT, IT CRACKED UP BAD

<Chels> Amy you're good!

<Janet> BROKE MY HEART

<cak> wow!

<vicki> oh no!

<cak> from the air expansion from the heat?

<Janet> BUT MY OTHER ONES I FLECKED WITH EP AND HEATED DID JUST FINE

<Scout> I knew it, I knew it!

<Vyx> musta been a flawed egg

<Janet> I GUESS. I WAS MORE CAREFUL TO HEAT THEM SLOWER AFTER THE FIRST EXPLODED ONE

<Chels> Oh...says they're Sold Out Amy.

<Janet> AND MY GLITTER EGGS WEREN'T DRY ENOUGH TO PHOTO, BUT THOSE ARE GOING TO BE JUST GORGEOUS

<vicki> you could use it for mosaics

<Chels> At least I see what it looked like though

<AmyLPR> i'm trying to find another Chels

<Janet> I GLUED UP MY EGG AND ROLLED IT IN DIFFERENT COLORS OF GLITTER FOR STRIPES

Chels sides up to Amy

<Janet> SO NOW YOU ALL TELL ME SOME EGG-STRA SPECIAL IDEAS? I DID MY PART =AND= TAUGHT YOU SOME FOLKLORE HISTORY IN CASCARONES

<Chels> I still say it cajones

<Janet> HEY RUBBER RABBIT! http://www.cyberstampers.com/class/eggs.jpg

<AmyLPR> http://www.opasinc.com/egg_decorating.html

<Chels> Hey Wabbit!

<Vyx> hiya Rabbit!

<brenda> heya RR

<AmyLPR> do a clown one Janet

<RubberRabb> Hi everyone

<cak> for some more stripeys you could use the thin double-stick tape (like miracle tape)

<Janet> AMY, YOU DO A CLOWN ONE. FILL IT WITH CONFETTI, TOO AND COVER YOUR HOLE WITH A CLOWN HAT

<Janet> OOOO YEAH!

<AmyLPR> maybe

<Chels> Tell her you will if she'll blow out the eggs for ya

<Janet> THAT COULD BE REALLY ELEGANT, USING MIRACLE TAPE AND POWDERED MICA?

<cak> glitter, beads, practically anything is supposed to stick to that stuff

<AmyLPR> if i find someone to blow out the eggs

<cak> ooooo, yes!

<Janet> EVERYTHING REALLY DOES!!

<Susie> what about using the wooden eggs? I almost got some the other day, but realized I didn't know what I was going to do with them.

<Janet> JUST GO BUY PAPER MACHE EGGS, THEY'RE CHEAP

<Janet> SUSIE, NOW YOU HAVE A TON OF NEW IDEAS!

<AmyLPR> but then it wouldn't crack

<Janet> THOSE OF YOU WITH A STENCIL COLLECTION?

<MaggieB> yes?

<Vyx> I have =a= stencil. LOL

<brenda> stencils?

<Janet> STIPPLE WITH YOUR STENCILS ON THE EGGS

<Susie> Yeah, wood ones were more money. I liked the feel of the extra weight. Maybe a few with the wood, most with mache.

<cak> sticking with the tape thing--you could punch out shapes with your larger punches out of the double-stick sheets too

<brenda> oh neat idea janet

<Janet> OR YOU KNOW HOW WE WERE DOING THE CANDLES, BY STAMPING ON TISSUE THEN ADHERING THE TISSUE? YOU COULD DO THE SAME WITH YOUR EGGS.

<Susie> ooh, nice idea.

<brenda> yesssssss

<Janet> OH YEAH! PUNCH SHAPES, STICK 'EM ON THE EGGS!

<Susie> I saw a bead that someone did by stamping and then decoupaging. very cool.

<Janet> I HAD WAY MORE IDEAS THAN I'VE MADE SO FAR.

<Janet> AND SOME OF MY BEST ONES ARE STILL DRYING.

<Susie> that is ALWAYS my problem!

<brenda> isnt that always the way we do janet

<Janet> LATER IN THE WEEK I'LL MAKE ANOTHER PAGE OF MORE EGGS

<cak> last easter a friend of mine took eggs with the tops kinda cracked off and grew a little grass (real grass) in them as part of little baskets she made us

<Janet> OH NEAT. WHAT A COOL THING THAT WOULD BE.

<Susie> of course I buy all the materials though! as my hubby always seems to point out ;-}

<cak> earlier she made a candle out of them too

<Janet> MY MOTHER HAS AN EASTER EGG TREE (DON'T ASK, SHE ALSO DRESSES HER YARD STATUES FOR THE SEASON), I THINK I'M GONNA ASK HER IF SHE'S MADE LITTLE EGG BASKETS FOR IT

<AmyLPR> neat

<AmyLPR> lol

<RubberRabb> has anyone ever tried using versamark ink on eggs and then putting dye ink over it?

<RubberRabb> wonder if that would work..

<Janet> NO, BUT I BET IT WOULD WORK

<Susie> my bead magazine had a really neat article about covering eggs with polyclay. I wasn't psyched to blow out eggs though.

<Janet> OH. HERE'S MY OTHER VOICE OF EXPERIENCE.

<Vyx> Yeah, I'd rather work over paper mache

<RubberRabb> how about duo glue on a cut n dry pad and stamp on eggs

<Vyx> Clay and eggshells might not work

<Janet> PUTTING POLYCLAY CANE SLICES ON EGGS IS JUST AWESOME LOOKING. BUT PAPER MACHE OR WOOD IS A LOT LESS HEARTBREAK THAN REAL ONES

<Vyx> I know I'd be squashing the shell trying to get it smooth

<Susie> She didn't, but I was doubtful I could handle it. And she cut the egg so it opened!! with clay on the inside.

<evo> Hmmmmm Chia eggs a possibility??

<RubberRabb> a friend does eggs as Christmas ornaments

<Janet> OH! I COULD COVER A ROCK AND DO THE OPENING THING WITH THOSE, LIKE WE MADE THOSE LITTLE AMULETS

<Vyx> I think I'll grow some chia eggs. I have oat grass seeds for the cat. :)

<Janet> CHIA EGGS? MY MIND IS SPINNING ON THAT ONE

<RubberRabb> she says the way to strengthen an egg is to blow it out but then coat it with several coats of elmer's glue

<Vyx> great idea

<brenda> neat

<Janet> OH! DEB'S EGGS! LET ME FIND HER URL AGAIN

<kat> I bet future floor finish would do the same rabbit

<AmyLPR> check out these eggs http://www.hgtv.com/HGTV/project/0,1158,CRHO_project_7062,FF.html

<RubberRabb> probably--but this was an older lady

<Janet> I BET IT WOULD, TOO, AND I HAVE FUTURE FLOOR WAX OUT ON MY KITCHEN TABLE RIGHT NOW

<Vyx> Be a bit thin... I think I'd go with glue.

<RubberRabb> she does tissue on her eggs

<RubberRabb> and then puts little scenes inside

<Vyx> Glue on the inside or outside? I was thinking on the inside... you could pour it in, and roll it around until coated, let it drain.

<Janet> DEB'S EGGS ARE STAMPED EGGS IN AN ARRANGEMENT, THIS WAS REALLY NEAT. SHE TOLD ME TO TELL YOU TO NOT DEPEND ON THE LINKS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE, THEY'RE A YEAR STALE AND MAY 404 ON YA

<Janet> BUT HER URL IS AT http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/8364/Easter.html

<RubberRabb> she said to paint glue on the outside

<RubberRabb> three coats of elmers and then you can cut larger openings with cuticle scissors without the egg crumbling

<brenda> wow

<brenda> debs basket is awesome

<Janet> AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN EGG STAMP BUT DO HAVE OVAL TEMPLATES??? MAKE YOUR OWN EGG DESIGNS

<Vyx> If you soak an eggshell in vinegar overnight you can cut it with scissors. Like sit it in a little puddle...

<Janet> ISN'T THAT BASKET JUST THE BEST?

<kat> it is pretty

<Janet> I'M GOING TO HANG MINE, AT LEAST UNTIL TIME TO SMASH THEM ON EASTER.

<Janet> I JUST USE DENTAL FLOSS USUALLY AS A HANGER

<Janet> STICK IT IN THE TOP OF THE EGGS WITH A STRAIGHT PIN

<Janet> IF I PUT THEM IN A BASKET, YOU KNOW WHO WILL STEAL THEM

<Vyx> Chico?

<Janet> CHICO

<Janet> HE HELPED ME ALL AFTERNOON, HE NOW HAS GESSO ON HIS TAIL AND LUMIERE ON HIS NOSE

<vicki> are you saying chico is a thief

<cak> lol

<kat> lol

<Vyx> Nah... he just borrows stuff

<cak> the decorated cat

<Janet> AND HIS NOSE HAD JUST GOTTEN UN-BLUE FROM WATERCOLORING A COUPLE WEEKS AGO

<evo> Gotta go... Luv your EGGsinstructions, Janet

<AmyLPR> lol

<evo> :}>

<Vyx> Bye Evo!

<evo> Nite all...

<vicki> bye evo

<cak> Night Evo

<AmyLPR> bye evo

<glitrbug> Did you give him an egg yolk?

<evo> Evo over and out

<Janet> THANKS, EVO! AND WE KNOW WHERE TO GET OUR GLITTER AND STIPPLE BRUSHES AND EGGVO TEMPLATES

<Scout> I'm hoping you are talking about a cat and not your kid/hubbie.

<Janet> MY BRAT CAT

<Janet> HE HAS TO LICK EVERYTHING

<glitrbug> Mom used to give the dog a yolk in the winter so his skin wouldn't get dry

<Janet> HE'S IN BIG TROUBLE TONIGHT, THOUGH, HE STOLE SOME OF MY DENTAL FLOSS...

<Scout> why doesn't that work with our skin

<glitrbug> don't know

<Janet> AND I WAS CHASING HIM TO GET IT AWAY FROM HIM, THE LAST TIME HE STOLE DENTAL FLOSS IT WAS A MIDNIGHT RUN TO THE EMERGENCY VET

<glitrbug> maybe it woudl if we didn't all give up eggs

<Janet> AND =HE= NAVIGATED AROUND THE HUGE HALL MIRROR THAT WAS DOWN SITTING LEANING AGAINST THE WALL

<Janet> BUT I DIDN'T

<Vyx> I give my dogs 1/2 an egg yolk about every time I boil eggs.

<Janet> SO I GUESS MY SEVEN YEARS STARTS TODAY

<glitrbug> Oh no janet

<cak> ouch

<cak> (did you at least get the floss?)

<brenda> poor janet

<glitrbug> I bet that scared chico

<Janet> I STILL FEEL SORTA SICK ABOUT THE MIRROR, THAT WAS SO DANGED EXPENSIVE AND NOW IT'S IN PIECES

<brenda> did you hurt yourself?

<vicki> poor chico

<Janet> AND YEAH, I DID GET THE FLOSS, HE DROPPED IT WHEN THE MIRROR WENT

<cak> lol--a little drastic, but effective

<Janet> AND I DIDN'T GET HURT, WHICH WAS SOMETHING, THIS THING PROBABLY WEIGHED A HUNDRED POUNDS OR SO

<cak> (and you can always smash the mirror more and put it on some more eggs)

<beanjean1> hey what could you do with pieces of mirror??????

<Janet> EGGS-ACTLY!!

<kat> mosaic

<Vyx> Lotsa stuff, actually

<Janet> I WAS JUST MAKING EMBELLISHMENTS!

<Janet> LOTS OF EMBELLISHMENTS

<cak> bases for pins

<Vyx> Depends on the sizes of the broken bits.

<Janet> WELL, THE LARGEST BIT IS ABOUT THREE FEET BY A FOOT OR SO

<vicki> use it like tiles in utee

<Janet> THERE ARE TINY SLIVERS TOO

<Janet> THEY ARE AWFULLY SHARP

<Janet> THIS MIRROR WAS LIKE 5'X3' OR SO

<Janet> HUGE

<Janet> EXPENSIVE

<Janet> AND NOW BROKE

<Scout> Are they embedded in the carpet? That really would be hard to get slivers out.

<Vyx> Big pieces you can make frames for, and lay em around with stuff sitting on top.

<Janet> AND I CAN'T EVEN REALLY SAY THE CAT DID IT BECAUSE I'M THE ONE WHO RAN INTO IT

<cak> sure you can--

<Janet> YEAH, I THINK IT'S A GOOD THING THE PLAN FOR TOMORROW WAS REPLACING THE HALL CARPET

<Janet> I DON'T THINK I'D EVER GET ALL THE GLASS OUT OF IT

<brenda> lol

<vicki> chico can't help it that his mommie is clumsy

<Janet> (THIS IS WHY THE MIRROR WAS DOWN TO BEGIN WITH, AS PART OF THE REPLACING CARPET PROCESS)

<Scout> Lay it out in your garden, put rocks around it and lots of plants and it will look like you have a pond.

<Janet> TAKE A HAMMER TO IT AND ROLL MY EGGS IN IT

<RubberRabb> glue the mirror pieces to a piece of plywood and put beedz in between the areas

<RubberRabb> like grout

<Janet> THERE'S A PLAN.

<RubberRabb> instant mirror mosaic

<Janet> THE PHARMACIST JUST WALKED IN, SAW THE DESTRUCTION AND SAID "DO YOU REMEMBER HOW MUCH WE PAID FOR THAT MIRROR?"

<RubberRabb> I have a wall mirror the movers cracked for me

<Janet> I CAN'T REPEAT WHAT i REPLIED THOUGH

<Scout> Would look good mounted on a fence in the back yard. That's what a decorator would do.

<RubberRabb> and I just put tape across the crack and then tied a very expensive antique ribbon across it

<Janet> AND I BET IT LOOKS FINE, TOO

<AmyLPR> night

<RubberRabb> yes in fact it looks better now

<Vyx> I bet it looks wonderful

<Janet> MINE IS IN TOO MANY PIECES. SIGH. IT'S SHATTERED.

<brenda> i saw a wall done with cracked mirror like a mosaic

<Janet> ANYWAY, I'M NOT GONNA THINK ABOUT IT, BUT I THINK I WILL SAVE ALL THE BIGGER PIECES

<Janet> ANY MORE EGG-STRA IDEAS?

<Janet> OR EGG YOLKS?

<Scout> Imagine trying to put it together like a jogsaw puzzle.....definitely would have to wear gloves.

<RubberRabb> well for those of us watching out cholesterol

<Janet> YEAH, IT WAS SCARY TRYING TO CLEAN IT UP, IT WAS SO SHARP AND WAS SLICING THROUGH THE TRASH BAG

<Scout> Wow, a "jogsaw"

<KzooCat> I'm getting too sleepy - time to go! thanks for the class

<RubberRabb> you can always decorate the cartons of egg substitute

<Janet> GO MAKE COOL EGGS!

<Janet> LOL YEAH!

<RubberRabb> sure..

<Scout> nite all

<beanjean1> thanks janet!!

<Janet> AND JUST THINK HOW MUCH EASIER IT WILL BE TO PUT CONFETTI INSIDE THOSE CARTONS, TOO

<RubberRabb> or use them as luminaries

<Janet> (ALTHOUGH I GUESS I'M NOT YOUR LOVED ONE WITH THE SMASHING ON MY HEAD PART IS)

<Janet> A CARTON WOULD HURT<G>

<Vyx> lol

<vicki> they might be a little harder to break over someones head

<RubberRabb> I never did do that with eggs

<Janet> MY FAMILY ALWAYS HAS DONE IT.

<RubberRabb> ours were always filled with chocolate

<brenda> janet thanks for a fantastic class

<cak> lots of cool ideas Janet--thanks!

<Janet> OH. WANT MY CASCARONE STORY?

<brenda> sure

<cak> of course

<Janet> IT'S NOT MINE, IT'S YOLANDA'S, A COWORKER OF MINE FROM A LONG TIME AGO

<Vyx> I think I heard this last night? :)

<Janet> HER FAMILY'S TRADITION WAS TO GO TO THE LAKE RIGHT AFTER CHURCH, EAT THE FEAST AND SWIM AND THEN DO CASCARONES

<Janet> YEP, YOU HEARD THIS LAST NIGHT

<Janet> ANYWAY, ONE YEAR HER LITTLE BROTHER TOOK HIS EGGS AND INSTEAD OF CONFETTI, HE PUT FLOUR INSIDE HIS

<Janet> HE THOUGHT THIS WAS REALLY FUNNY

<brenda> lol

<cak> oooo

<Janet> UNTIL GRAMMA GOT ONE OF HIS CRACKED ON HER (WET FROM THE LAKE) HAIR

<cak> lol

<Janet> HE ALMOST DIDN'T SURVIVE

<brenda> oh nooooo

<cak> couldn't sit for a week?

<Janet> PROBABLY. HE'S IN HIS 40S AND STILL HEARS ABOUT IT EVERY YEAR

<cak> lol

<cak> (can you see the scrapbook page for that?)

<Janet> LOL APPROPRIATELY DONE ON PASTE PAPER

<cak> lol

<vicki> lol

<Janet> OH. I DIDN'T TRY EGGS IN SHAVING CREAM YET, BUT I KNOW THIS WILL WORK.

<Janet> TRY THAT, TOO.

<Janet> I'M GOING TO TOMORROW

<Janet> DO MARBLING LIKE I LEARNED IN THE LAST MAGGIE CLASS, BUT WITH MY EGGS INSTEAD OF PAPER

<cak> if it's as lovely as your paper, they'll be fab

<brenda> neat idea

<Janet> ANY OTHER EGG IDEAS??

<MaggieB> hmmmm.... that works on eggs janet?

<brenda> not me

<MaggieB> cool

<Janet> IT SHOULD, MAGGIE

<Vyx> not even any punny yolks

<Janet> JUST ROLL IT ACROSS THE TOP

<Janet> LOL

<MaggieB> i liked the marbled eggs we did as kids

<MaggieB> where the color floated

<kat> the sticky ones

<MaggieB> and you dipped through the color

<Janet> THIS SHOULD WORK AND BE EVEN EASIER

<MaggieB> cool

<Janet> YEAH, MINE WERE ALWAYS STICKY

<MaggieB> course we dont do eggs anymore

<MaggieB> lol

<MaggieB> kids all too old

<Janet> YOU SHOULD THIS YEAR, MAGGIE

<Janet> MAKE CASCARONES

<MaggieB> i should?

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> YOU SHOULD.

<MaggieB> and throw them at the dh???

<MaggieB> i could do that

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> THE KIDS WILL LOVE THE CASCARONE IDEA

<vicki> dh is 52, and dyes eggs every year

<MaggieB> left me to do this stupid house

<MaggieB> he is in richmond where it was 80 two days in a row

<MaggieB> <pout>

<Janet> I THINK HE NEEDS A SPECIAL CASCARONE, MAGGIE.

<MaggieB> yeah, real special

<MaggieB> lol

<cak> I think he get 2 then--and make sure you get lots of coats on them

<MaggieB> or bwhahahahahhaaa

<MaggieB> as libster would say

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> YEAH, REALLY REALLY SPECIAL, THE "I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO BLOW THIS RAW EGG OUT BUT i DECORATED IT SPECIAL FOR YOU ANYWAY" STYLE EGG

<MaggieB> good idea cak

<cak> lol--coated in flour?

<MaggieB> lol

<vicki> lmao

<Janet> MAGGIE, IT'S WORTH THINKING ABOUT ANYWAY. JUST THINKING ABOUT IT WILL GIVE YOU PLEASURE. :)

<MaggieB> lol that it will janet, that it will!

<Vyx> I was thinking of doing a real pretty egg, but just using a regular raw one. :)

<MaggieB> lol

<MaggieB> i just keep telling him he is lucky i love him and you will pay big time for this buster!

<kat> well, time to go

<MaggieB> lol

<Janet> ALSO SEE IF YOU CAN'T FABRIC-COAT AN EGG, I DON'T SEE WHY YOU COULDN'T

<Vyx> and then I thought you'd all think me too too mean... LOL
