<Jambalaya> OK Y'ALL, THIS IS PAM'S FIRST TIME TEACHING, SO LETS KEEP IT QUIET FOR HER, AND NOT BE SILLY, OK??
<cindyc> ummmm
<FrancesWV> Will do
<cindyc> i will try...grin
<Monica> ok
<QueenPam> WELCOME TO BASICALLY THE BASICS AND HI TO EVERYONE
* Vyx crosses her eyes and sticks her tongue out
* Jambalaya will be watching
<cindyc> lol
* Jambalaya slaps Vyx around a bit with a live crawfish
<cindyc> hi teacher!
<Vyx> Hiya Pam!
* verbstamp puts away spitballs and zips lips
* cindyc hands the teach a shiny apple
<QueenPam> I AM NEW TO TEACHING ONLINE SO PLEASE BE KIND
<cak> Yay! I'm so glad we've got some basic classes coming (thanks Pam)
<QueenPam> ty cc
<Monica> hi, Pam (f)
<QueenPam> HELLO EVERYONE!
<Bibi> hi pam!
<cak> Hi!
<QueenPam> I AM QUEEN PAM, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PAM BROWN FROM CINCINNATI OHIO, THE QUEEN CITY.
<QueenPam> HENCE MY NAME
<cindyc> and the best stamping shopper in our state
<QueenPam> THAT WOULD BE THE OTHER REASON FOR MY NAME SHOPPING QUEEN
<cak> lol
<QueenPam> LETāS TALK STAMPING
<FrancesWV> We are all queens then
<QueenPam> TRUE
<QueenPam> THIS WILL BE VERY BASIC A REFRESHER
<QueenPam> STAMPS COME IN RUBBER, FOAM, AND CLEAR ACRYLIC. MOSTLY
<QueenPam> RUBBER. THE RUBBER CAN BE ANY COLOR; I HAVE SEEN LAVENDER, BLACK, BEIGE, AND THE EVER POPULAR RED. I DONāT THINK THE COLOR
<QueenPam> MAKES MUCH DIFFERENCE IN THE QUALITY OF THE STAMP.
<April> hi
<QueenPam> ALL OF THE VENDORS HERE PRODUCE QUALITY DIES (THATāS THE RUBBER PIECE OF THE STAMP). YOU HAVE PROBABLY SEEN THE FOAM STAMPS IN YOUR LOCAL CRAFT STORES. I DONāT HAVE ANY OF THE CLEAR STAMPS. ANYBODY USE THOSE?
<FrancesWV> No
<Bibi> yes, have a few
<cindyc> i like rubber
<Vyx> I have a few
<Jambalaya> i understand you can't use the new chalk pads with the clear stamps
<QueenPam> IāM TOLD YOU CANāT USE THE CHALK INKS WITH THEM.
<Jambalaya> oops
<QueenPam> jINX JAM
<cak> I've been afraid to try the clear ones--heard they don't take well to some types of ink
<cindyc> right
<Vyx> yeah, heard that. not gonna test it to see what happens, lol.
<Bibi> what happens if you do?
<QueenPam> ME EITHER
<Vyx> we don't know, lol...
<cindyc> it eats the polymer
<Vyx> eeek!
* Bibi will try
<QueenPam> STAMPS COME UNMOUNTED (JUST THE DIE PIECE) OR MOUNTED ON A CUSHION AND A PIECE OF HARD WOOD (THE HANDLE).
<FrancesWV> Why can't you use the chalk inks?
<Jambalaya> they get mushy i heard
<QueenPam> MELTS THEM
<Bibi> oh, kewl, must try
<cindyc> lol
<Jambalaya> lol
<QueenPam> TO MELT THEM-OK BIBI
<Bibi> :)
<cak> You can report back then Bibi--thanks for your sacrifice
<Bibi> yw
<QueenPam> THE HANDLE USUALLY HAS THE INDEX, WHICH IS THE IMAGE OF WHAT THE DIE WILL LOOK LIKE WHEN STAMPED. THIS HELPS YOU KNOW WHAT THE FINISHED IMPRESSION WILL LOOK LIKE AND SOMETIMES THEY ARE IN COLOR.
<QueenPam> PLEASE REPORT BACK BIBI
<Bibi> I will
<QueenPam> MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE FOUND HERE AT CIRCUSTAMPS
<QueenPam> http://www.circustamps.com/projects.html
<QueenPam> KAI SCISSORS AT CREATIVE IMAGES RUBBER STAMPS http://www.cistamps.com/ OR AT EVOLING IMAGES
<QueenPam> http://crafts.dm.net/mall/evo/. THEY ARE JUST THE BEST FOR CUTTIN OUT RUBBER DIES.
<QueenPam> CUT THEM LIKE BUTTER
<Vyx> I think circustamps sells kai scissors too... and more sizes?
<cindyc> amen to that!
<cak> he does! and sharpens them too
<FrancesWV> Never tried them
<QueenPam> BUT REALLY ANY GOOD SHARP SCISSORS WILL DO, BUT GO TO CIRCUS STAMPS
<cindyc> you need them frances....
<Jambalaya> frances, you NNEEEEEDDD them
<FrancesWV> LOL
<QueenPam> YOU REALLY NEED THEM
<FrancesWV> I need everything!
* cindyc has at least 6 pairs
<FrancesWV> wow!
<QueenPam> CINDY SHOULD SHARE
<Kriztina> i think i have 4 or 5
<Kriztina> you NEED them frances
<QueenPam> WITH THE TEACHER
<cindyc> not
<Jambalaya> they are worth every penny
<Bibi> lol
<cindyc> i always misplace things...lol
* verbstamp raises hand
<QueenPam> EVERY PENNY
<QueenPam> YES
* FrancesWV thinks Cindy should send a Kai rak to me for my birthday:)
<verbstamp> is anyone logging Pam's first class for posterity?
<cak> (I am)
<verbstamp> yippee!
<QueenPam> TY CAK
<Vyx> yep, autologs now
<QueenPam> LETS TALK ABOUT INK
<QueenPam> THERE ARE BASICALLY TWO TYPES OF INK DYE BASED AND PIGMENT BASED. THERE ARE HYBRIDS OF THESES BUT I WILL GET TO THOSE IN A MOMENT.
<cindyc> (getting juicy now...)!
<FrancesWV> lol
<QueenPam> DYE INKS ARE WATERBASED. AN EXAMPLE WOULD BE THE MARVY PADS OR ADIRONDACK PADS.
<QueenPam> SOME DYE BASED INKS ARE WATERPROOF THESES WOULD BE YOUR ANCIENT PAGE PADS. BEING WATER BASED THESE ARE FAST DRYING AND DEPENDING ON YOUR PAPER WILL BE ABSORBED INTO THE PAPER
<QueenPam> OOO BAD TEACHER...ANY QUESTIONS AS OF YET
<cak> I have one, but I can't think of it?!!!
<FrancesWV> no
<Monica> no, clear so far
<Jambalaya> you're doing fine
<QueenPam> PIGMENT INKS ARE BASED ON GLYCERIN OR AN OIL, COLORBOX, ENCORE.
<cak> OH, I remember--it's about storing pads.
<QueenPam> OK
<cak> (you can deal with that later if'n you want)
<QueenPam> I STORE MINE RIGHT SIDE UP IN A CASSETTE RACK
<cindyc> dyes should be stored upside down and pigments don't matter...
<cindyc> unless they are a multi colored pad.. then they would run
<FrancesWV> I've never had problems with storing all of mine right side up
<cindyc> it just keeps the tops juicy for stamping frances
<FrancesWV> Dye inks that are probably 4 years old still juicy and stamp well.
<QueenPam> ME EITHER I THINK IT IS A PERSONAL CHOICE SINCE I ALWAYS BUT THE REINKERS
<FrancesWV> True Pam
<QueenPam> BUT THERE IS FREEDOM IN STAMPING
<cak> (excellent idea)
<QueenPam> PIGMENT INKS ARE BASED ON GLYCERIN OR AN OIL, COLORBOX, ENCORE.
<QueenPam> SLOWER DRYING AND GENERALLY WILL NOT BE ABSORBED INTO THE PAPER THIS IS WHY THEY ARE GREAT FOR USING EMBOSSING POWDER WITH.
<FrancesWV> Oil? Really?!?
<QueenPam> THERE IS AN VEGETABLE OIL ONE COMING OUT SOON
<FrancesWV> Oh!
<QueenPam> ON SOME COATED SURFACES/PAPERS THEY WILL NEVER DRY UNLESS HEAT SET. OTHERS ARE ZIM INK AND DCOR-IT 123. VERSACOLOR IS A WATER BASED PIGMENT, NOT SURE HOW THEY DO THAT.
<QueenPam> ANY CHEMIST HERE WHO CAN EXPLAIN IT
<cak> lol (deafening silence)
<Bibi> not me
<Bibi> lol
<cindyc> i dunno
* verbstamp hides
<QueenPam> OK WE WILL HAVE TO JUST MARVEL AT HOW THEY DO IT
<Bibi> yes
<FrancesWV> LOL
<Jambalaya> ya, that's it, it's magic!
<cak> QP, what is the name of vegetable oil based one? I've heard some good press about it
<QueenPam> MAGIC, I LIKE MAGIC.
<QueenPam> THE OTHERS:
* verbstamp hums "That ol' Black Magic"
<QueenPam> BRILLIANCE IS A PIGMENT INK THAT WILL DRY ON JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING. STAZ-ON IS SOLVENT BASED AND WILL LIKE ITS NAME STAYS ON MOST SURFACES.
<QueenPam> CRAFTERS AND FABRICO ARE MADE TO BE USED ON FABRICS BUT CAN BE USED ELSEWHERE.
<QueenPam> WE USED TO USE THEM IN THE PLACES WE USE STAZON NOW
<cindyc> lol
<QueenPam> VERSAMARK AND CLEAR RESIST ARE PIGMENT TYPE PADS WITHOUT ANY PIGMENT. IT WILL DARKEN SLIGHTLY THE PAPER IT IS USED ON CREATING A WATERMARK EFFECT. GREAT ALSO FOR HOLDING DRY MICA POWDERS, CHALKS AND EMBOSSING POWDERS. AND RESISTING WATERBASED DYE INK.
<cak> (I gotta get me some of that there Stazon)
<QueenPam> YES YOU NEED EVERY COLOR
<FrancesWV> Me too cak
<cindyc> you do cak
<FrancesWV> At least the black
<QueenPam> I HELD OUT FOR AS LONG AS I COULD
* cindyc wants them to hurry and make new colors
<Monica> me too
<QueenPam> TAKES THE GUESS WORK OUT OF WILL IT STAY OR NOT
<FrancesWV> Are the chalk pads considered a hybrid?
<cak> jgood to know it lives up to its name
<QueenPam> YEP
<QueenPam> CHALKS ARE THE FRECOS, FLUID CHALKS AND I KNOW THERE ARE OTHERS. THEY CONTAIN CHALK AND WHEN STAMPED GET A MATTE APPEARANCE.
<FrancesWV> I love the chalk pads
<QueenPam> ME TOO THEY ALSO RESIST
<FrancesWV> Oooooooo! Haven't tried that yet.
<QueenPam> HOW MANY DIFFERENT BRANDS OF CHALKS ARE THERE NOW
<FrancesWV> They dry so fast, and are permanent when heat set. I love how versatile they are.
<FrancesWV> Memories has a new brand of them out now.
<QueenPam> USE THE CHALKS LIKE WOULD VERSAMARK FOR THE RESIST TEC
<cak> Janet says that if you stamp with a light chalk color and watercolor the image, it looks like you didnt use a stamps at all
<FrancesWV> Thanks Pam, I'll try that.
<cindyc> cool
<QueenPam> HOW MANY INK PADS DO YOU GUYS HAVE?
<cak> too many
<cindyc> lol
<QueenPam> YW FRANCES
<FrancesWV> I paint with them on dominoes using a paintbrush.
<Monica> more than I use
<Bibi> not enough
<cindyc> maybe about 300?
<FrancesWV> WOW!
* Jambalaya never counts stuff, don't want evidence<g>
<QueenPam> RIGHT ANSWER BIBI
<jenmist> wow sis
<QueenPam> I HAVE AROUND 200
<cindyc> i am an ink junky
<Vyx> egads!
<Bibi> what did I win? LOL
<QueenPam> I WANT TO HAVE EVERY COLOR
<Vyx> I'll go count mine quick, lol...
<FrancesWV> I probably have around 100, but I really don't know for sure.
<FrancesWV> And I thought I had a lot!
<verbstamp> I have maybe 10 ink pads
<QueenPam> WHICH 10 VERB
<cindyc> prob at least 50 of mine haven't even been open
<FrancesWV> I'm an ink junkie too, Cindy
<QueenPam> THEY MUST BE THE POPULAR
<verbstamp> lol, I'd have to look
<Vyx> less than 2 dozen, not counting rainbow pads. another 1/2 dozen of those.
<verbstamp> naw, stuff that was on sale
<Kriztina> around a 100 i think
<QueenPam> OK
<cindyc> and i need more....grin
<QueenPam> THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE KID SAFE PADS TOO
<Monica> I have about 40 plus one petal point
<QueenPam> THERE ARE METALLICS...WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE
<cindyc> encore
<cindyc> for metalics
<QueenPam> ME 2
<cak> I also like the gilding type combos
<Monica> ColorBox Brocade petal point
<FrancesWV> I like the Brilliance metallics
<cindyc> explain cak?
<FrancesWV> I have one of those cak
<QueenPam> PLEASE CAK
<Monica> never heard of those, cak
<cak> there are 2 colors (pigments I think). One is a metallic and one is a coordinating color
<FrancesWV> You get a two sided pad, with one color maybe being a verdigris green and the other side being a copper metallic.
<cak> they're old, so they may not make them any longer
<cindyc> ahhh
<FrancesWV> They still make them
<Jambalaya> they do
<QueenPam> MUST HAVE GILDING PAD, MUST HAVE
<Monica> ah, ok heard of those
<cindyc> uh oh, you done it now cak
<Bibi> who makes'em?
<cak> (I've got about 4 of 'em)
<FrancesWV> Ranger, I think
<QueenPam> SAW THEM AT HOBBY LOBBY
<cindyc> lol
<Jambalaya> i think color it, can't think of company
<Monica> there's also the ColorBox metalextras
<Vyx> i'll have to look for those.
<FrancesWV> I just checked. It is made by Ranger, and it is Color It.
<Monica> such as Peacock Gold which is basically gold with a green overtone
<QueenPam> MUST HAVE GILDING
<Vyx> ditto. LOL
<QueenPam> LOTS OF COLORS TO BUY
<FrancesWV> too many
<cak> I have a petalpoint of those, but haven't opened it yet. Very lovely to look at
<QueenPam> STAMPING SURFACES:
<Jambalaya> lol, cak
<QueenPam> ANYTHING YOU CAN GET YOUR STAMP ON. MOSTLY PAPER THOUGH SO LETāS TALK PAPER.
<Vyx> Anything that will hold still long enough to stamp, lol
<Monica> lol, cak. basis for many a purchase
<cak> (I do a lot of looking and collecting)
<cak> yes paper! (confusing to me sometimes)
<QueenPam> THE PAPER CAN BE AS THIN AS TISSUE PAPER OR AS HARD AS CARDBOARD.
<QueenPam> IT CAN BE ABSOLUTELY SHEER OR COMPLETELY OPAQUE.
<QueenPam> MOSTLY I USE CARDSTOCK. BUT THERE IS ALSO BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE PAPERS. APPALOOSA ART STAMPS AND CREATIVE IMAGES RUBBER STAMPS LIST PAPER AS PART OF THEIR STOCK.
<QueenPam> QUESTIONS CAK
<cak> don't forget EI's tissue too
<QueenPam> TY
<QueenPam> WHAT CONFUSES YOU CAK
<cindyc> love ei paper! tis what i used on my dominoes
<cak> just sooooo many types and I always pick the wrong kind for my project (too light, too heavy, that kind of thing)
<QueenPam> BUT I BET THERE HAVE BEEN SOME HAPPY ACCIDENTS
<Vyx> around here mostly not, lol
<cindyc> brb need water...
<FrancesWV> I didn't think there could be a WRONG kind of paper for anything.LOL!
<cak> uh, so far, just accidents (but I always hope)
<Jambalaya> i just take my ei tissue out and look at it sometimes<g>
<cak> nothing that's unrecoverable, but just not the best for the purpose
<QueenPam> CARDSTOCK COMES MATTE OR COATED, CHEAP OR EXPENSIVE. I HAVE NEVER MET ONE I DIDNāT LIKE.
<cak> lol
<Monica> lol
<FrancesWV> Anyone else use the Georgia Pacific cardstock from Walmart?
<pmstamper> me Frances, I love the earthtones pack.
<FrancesWV> Me neither Pam
<Jambalaya> sure, it has it's place
<QueenPam> I HAVE SOME BASIC THAT I GOT FROM OFFICE DEPOT
<QueenPam> . I USE MATTE THE MOST BECAUSE YOU CAN USE THE MOST MEDIUMS WITH IT; INK, PENCILS OF ALL TYPES, MARKERS, PAINT, CHALK. YOU NAME IT.
<cindyc> a smooth white matte, can't beat it
<cindyc> yay for hollo's!
<Monica> that's what I use the most
<QueenPam> LOVED HOLLOS
<QueenPam> IT IS WHAT I REACH FOR FIRST
<QueenPam> THE COATED CARDSTOCK IS VERY SMOOTH, NO TOOTH AND FOR THAT REASON A LOT OF THINGS WILL NOT STICK TO IT, BUT FOR SOME OF THE RESIST TECHNIQUES IT HAS TO BE USED. PLUS I JUST LOVE THE WAY IT FEELS.
<cindyc> hey gail
<cak> I think I get confused between brand names and names of types (like Exact, etc.)
<iamagas> hey all
<FrancesWV> Hi iamagas
<cindyc> i go for color first then feel
<QueenPam> I JUST BUY WHAT FEELS OR LOOKS LIKE WHAT I WANT
* cindyc walks around stores feeling cs's lol
<Jambalaya> i just buy it all<g>
<QueenPam> EXACT IS A BRAND I THINK'
<FrancesWV> me too Jam
<iamagas> that's the only way to do it Jam
<FrancesWV> Well, not all.
<iamagas> then you're always ready
* Jambalaya has a weakness for paper
<FrancesWV> I have a versatile collection, you could say.
<QueenPam> ANY OTHER ? ON PAPER
<cak> is it on-topic to talk about storage and organization?
<QueenPam> SURE
<QueenPam> WHY NOT
<QueenPam> I SAY KEEP EVERYTHING OUT
<Jambalaya> heh
<FrancesWV> Storage for what cak? Paper, or anything?
<cak> paper (we'll get to the rest later)
<QueenPam> JUST KIDDING I HAVE 4 IRIS CARTS THE TALL ONES
<pmstamper> yes, is it better to store in a hanging file or lying flat?
<QueenPam> I STORE MINE BOTH WAYS
<cindyc> mine are lying flat, but don't think it matters
<cak> anything that I store hanging gets a bow in it
<QueenPam> EASIER TO GET TO IN THE HANGING FOLDERS, BUT BETTER LAYING FLAT
<Monica> then you don't have enough, lol
<Jambalaya> cak, that only means your drawers aren't full enough
<cak> lol
<FrancesWV> The stuff I store in my rubbermaid box(the 12x12 papers) ends up with bent corners.
<cindyc> i keep mine on shelves
<cindyc> lots and lots of shelves...lol
<QueenPam> I HAVE AN OLD CHEST OF CRAWERS THAT MY PAPER IS IN
<FrancesWV> No shelves here.
<keRibou> I have a hanging file with 1-2 folders per color family
<FrancesWV> That's a good idea Pam!
<FrancesWV> I never would have thought of that, and it is so simple too.
<keRibou> I file my scraps in color coordinated folders too
<pmstamper> I got some of those scrapbookers paper holders but was not sure if they were meant to be flat or upright.
<cindyc> a chest of drawers is where i keep my ribbon spools
<QueenPam> AND I STORE OTHER THINGS IN THERE TOO, THE CHOCLATE I DON'T WANT DD TO EAT
<cindyc> and still not enough room...lol
<cak> (well, that'll leave more room for the paper)
<FrancesWV> My kitchen is my stamping area, my dining area, and my general crafting area. No room for big storage units or shelves.
* Bibi has never met a choklit she didn't wan to eat
<QueenPam> I'LL KEEP IT FOR YOU FRANCES
<FrancesWV> LOL
<Monica> pmstamper, I have two of those scrapbook paper holders and I keep mine upright
<QueenPam> INKING A STAMP:
<Bibi> oh, you said DD....
<QueenPam> WELL U CAN TAKE THE STAMP TO THE INK OR THE INK TO THE STAMP. IT REALLY IS A PERSONAL PREFERRENCE.
<pmstamper> thanks, Monica!
* cindyc prefers ink to stamp
<Monica> me too
<FrancesWV> Me too cindy
<Bibi> ditto that
<QueenPam> I DO BOTH. FOR LARGER STAMPS IT IS A MUST TO TAKE THE INK TO THE STAMP.
<Monica> that way you can see if you've missed an area
<QueenPam> THAT MAKES SENSE MONICA
<pmstamper> has anybody else had problems with Memories pad coming detached from the plastic base?
<cindyc> once and a while
<QueenPam> JUST USE CRAZY GLUE
<FrancesWV> Just one pmstamper
<Bibi> nope
<cak> yep, but I beat it back into submission
<Bibi> lol
<Jambalaya> cak can get violent
<pmstamper> crazy glue to put pad back?
<cak> (but it works!)
<QueenPam> SOME PEOPLE PREFER TO TAP TAP TAP THE INK ON. SOME PEOPLE SLIDE THE INK PAD IN A RUBBING MOTION. SOME BRAYER THE INK ON, ESPECIALLY HELPFUL FOR PHOTOART STAMPS, THIS GIVES A REALLY LIGHT AND EVEN COATING OF INK ON THE STAMP.
<QueenPam> YES PM
<pmstamper> ok, thanks.
<QueenPam> OR YOU CAN COLOR THE DIE WITH MARKERS AND THEN HUFF (BLOW HOT MOIST AIR) ON THE STAMP AND THEN APPLY TO THE PAPER. AGAIN HERE YOU CAN BRING THE PAPER TO THE STAMP OR THE STAMP TO THE PAPER. WHEN BRINGING THE STAMP TO THE PAPER JUST DONāT ROCK THE STAMP. YOU WANT TO PRESS FIRMLY ON THE STAMP ALL OVER BUT DONāT ROCK. THEN PULL THE STAMP STRAIGHT UP AND YOU ARE NOW AN ARTIST!
<cindyc> woooohoooo!
<QueenPam> IF YOU FIND THAT YOU ARE HAVINF TROUBLE GETTING A CLEAR IMPRESSION WHEN STAMPING, PLACE YOUR PAPER ON A CUSHION, LIKE A MOUSE PAD, SEVERAL LAYERS OF FUN FOAM OR THAT SPECIAL PAD MADE FOR STAMPING. FOR PLAIN UNMOUNTEDS THIS IS A MUST.
<QueenPam> CLEANING STAMPS: AGAIN EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN STYLE. ME I WIPE THEM ON A BABYWIPE AND THEN ON A SCRUBBER. THE STAZON NEED TO HAVE THEIR CLEANER TO GET THEM CLEAN. JUST AVOID ALCOHOL, BECAUSE YOU DONāT WANT YOUR RUBBER TO DRY OUT.
<Monica> or an old telephone book
<QueenPam> GOOD ONE MONICA
<Monica> ty
<QueenPam> NOW YOU KNOW THE BASICS
* cindyc tosses em in a bowl of water till it gets full.... then cleanes em (um's)
<cindyc> it is nearly full now....
<Jambalaya> me too, cindy!
<QueenPam> ANY OTHER WAYS
<cak> cleaning the Stazon is good for basic cleanliness or do they gunk up like the ink from the old Sanford ink pads?
<verbstamp> I have never been good at the mouse pad deal
<FrancesWV> I like the bottle scrubbers. I can scrub down in the crevices better that way.
<QueenPam> I THINK YOU NEED TO CLEAN THE STAZON
<QueenPam> I USE THE THICKER STAMPING PAD
<cindyc> i wiped it off, then soaked, but i am not anal about stains
<QueenPam> STAINED RUBBER MEANS IT IS LOVED
<cindyc> those cheap battery operated toothbrushes are great for you stamps for crevices
<verbstamp> you should see some of my 25 year old stamps
<Monica> lol, then mine are basking in joyous sunshine
<QueenPam> THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY FIRST CLASS
<Bibi> Question - that special pad made for stamping - what is it called, and where can I get one? never even heard of it before
<FrancesWV> A stamp scrubber pad?
<April> oh cool
<Bibi> thank YOU., Pam!
<Monica> cleaning stamps?
<QueenPam> OOO ANYONE KNOW , MINE IS SO OLD
<cindyc> funfoam has thick ones now, i use them
<Bibi> not cleaning, for stampin on
<pmstamper> Oh, Michael's has them. They are like extrathick fun foam.
<QueenPam> KNOW IT IS THE ONE YOU LAY THE PAPER ON TO STAMP
<Monica> Rub-N-Scrub from Hampton Art Stamps
<FrancesWV> The versifine?
<FrancesWV> The new oil based pads?
<cindyc> Queen Pam, you have done a fantastic job!
<FrancesWV> Yes, you have!
<Bibi> very good class!
<Monica> yes, very good class, Queen Pam
<QueenPam> YES FRANCES THE VERSAFINES
<cak> Yes you did! When's your next class??
<cindyc> i knew you would
<FrancesWV> Really enjoyed this. Learned a few things I didn't know at all.
<Jambalaya> great class pam, you done good
<QueenPam> TY (THE QUEEN BOWS LOW)
<Bibi> lol
<cak> lol
<pmstamper> yes, very good info.
<Monica> I have a question about adhesives
<verbstamp> great class, Pam From Cincinnati!!
<cindyc> i will refer to this if i ever teach beginning stamping
<FrancesWV> I think Bibi was wondering about the Versafine pads.
<QueenPam> ?? ASK mONICA
<Bibi> yep, you're a natural born cyber teacher
<Monica> ok, it'll take a minute
<Bibi> Frances, I wondered aobut that stamp mat, like fun foam
<Vyx> Great class, Pam, thank you!
<Monica> I have a design that I stamp on mulberry paper and color with Radiant Pearls
<QueenPam> YOU GUYS MADE IT WONDERFUL
<FrancesWV> Oh! Ok, Bibi. I misunderstood your question.
<QueenPam> OK MONICA
<Monica> the image doesn't bleed at that point
<Bibi> 'sok
<FrancesWV> You are a great teacher, and this was a lot of fun.
<QueenPam> OK
<Kriztina> use an old mouse pad bibi
<Kriztina> or a magazine
<Bibi> I do
<Monica> I've tried zyron but that doesn't work for mulberry paper
<QueenPam> AND STAND UP TO STAMP IT
<Bibi> just wanted to know what that thing was
<pmstamper> Bibi, I use a regular fun foam thickness, but it is 12 inches by about 18 inches long so protects my surface area too.
<QueenPam> WHAT ABOUT SPRAY ADHESIVE
<Monica> I tried PPA but that made the image bleed, as did the Zig glue
<Monica> any ideas?
<Bibi> oh, nice, pm!
<QueenPam> SPRAY ADHESIVE
<Kriztina> those sticky dots
<cindyc> i would try sealing with a spray fixatif
<cak> would a glue stick work?
<cindyc> the glue
<cindyc> then glue i mean
<Monica> ok, guess that's another trip to the craft store, lol
<QueenPam> DOUBLE SIDED TAPE
<cindyc> spray fixatif is very handy
<Monica> though I had enough adhesives but guess I don't
<QueenPam> NEVER ENOUGH
<Monica> hmm, never though of spray fixative
<FrancesWV> I would go with spray adhesive for anything thin like mulberry paper.
<Monica> to keep it from bleeding
<cindyc> double sided tape is good too
<FrancesWV> Good for the skeleton leaves too.
<cindyc> right
<cak> (that's one of my weaknesses--adhesives)
<cindyc> mine too cak
* pmstamper always fears having to explain my paints and glues to the fire marshall
<cindyc> but i have many weaknesses....lol
<Monica> lol
<QueenPam> LOL
<Jambalaya> yes paste works well with mulberry paper, without showing through, and it shouldn't make your inks bleed
<cak> hush your mouth pmstamper!
<cindyc> i seal about everything anymore
<Bibi> Pam, et all, about that clear stamp and Chalk ink.....
<Monica> I'll try that
<FrancesWV> You could always use eyelets to attach it, if it's being attached to other paper.
<QueenPam> ANY MORE ?? IF NOT THE QUEEN MUST GO TO BED
<cindyc> yes bibi?
<Kriztina> and look for sticky dots, in the scrapbook section monica
<QueenPam> YES BIBI
<Monica> was so disappointed to make this nice tin and then to see it bleed on the last step
<Bibi> I inked a stamp when we talked about that earlier, and it is still OK. but clear stamps are different..this one took it OK; another brand may not
<Jambalaya> did it melt yet, bibi????
<Bibi> not at all
<Monica> thanks for a great class, Pam
<FrancesWV> It may be a matter of time when using it too.
<cak> it may be an over-time type of reaction too
<cindyc> prob. repeated uses
<Bibi> yes
<QueenPam> I THINK IT IS AN OVER TIME THING BIBI
<FrancesWV> Problem may not show up right away, but later down the road.
<cak> (duh, Frances said it better and faster)
<Bibi> OK, I will leave it on for a coupla weeks
<cindyc> it is like the problem of using many sealers on polymer clay, it will make the clay sticky.
<Bibi> ugly stamp anyway, lol
<cindyc> both are polymer products
<FrancesWV> I would think that it would get sticky and tacky
<cak> Thank you QueenPam, I bow before you! (great info)
<QueenPam> PLUS WHAT DOES IT DO TO YOU
<QueenPam> THANKS AGAIN FOR HAVING ME!
<FrancesWV> Thanks for teaching us!
<cak> (and i still wanna know when you're teaching again)
<Monica> really good first class, Pam
<QueenPam> GOOD NIGHT AND ty
<FrancesWV> Nite Pam
<Monica> if it hadn't been stated at the beginning
<cindyc> good night
<Bibi> good night, Pam
<Bibi> ops
<Monica> I wouldn't have known this was your first class
<Jambalaya> wow, i'm always wound up after i teach a class<g>
<FrancesWV> I would be too Jam
<Bibi> she did really well, me thinks!
<pmstamper> you made out ok in the storm, Jam?
<FrancesWV> Just goes to show, even seasoned stampers can learn something new about the basics.
<Jambalaya> ya, just a lil water in the garage
<Bibi> gail, sit still!
<Jambalaya> and you?
<iamagas> sorry
<Bibi> lol!
<iamagas> my mouse slipped
<FrancesWV> Quit opening and shutting the doors.
<Bibi> bad mouse
<FrancesWV> That is what I say to my kids, anyway.
<pmstamper> just up all night to watch that my car didn't get flooded. No problems though. Sorry about your garage.
<Bibi> you need to keep it on a chain, gail. lol
<iamagas> 'In or Out' I always say
<Jambalaya> oh we have everthing out there raised
<FrancesWV> My kids seem to think it means In AND out.
<Bibi> lol
<iamagas> lol
<cindyc> i think she did great
<Bibi> she sure did
<pmstamper> that is good.
<Monica> so do my cats, Frances
<cindyc> i think we have another teacher amongst us
<FrancesWV> Gotta go ladies. Have sweet dreams!
<Bibi> yay!
<cak> night Frances
<iamagas> night frances
