<Jambalaya> HI Y'ALL!!
<TarotMama> hi teacher
<Bibi> hi!
<Jambalaya> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
* TarotMama slaps TarotMama around a bit with a large trout
<verbstamp> paper plate class listed for tonight--i think this is the 2nd time i've tried to be in that class and it gets moved :-(
<stubby> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<Jambalaya> ANYBODY HAVE ANY OF THOSE COOL COUNTERTOP LAMINATE SAMPLES LAYING AROUND??
<verbstamp> no offense vis-a-vis "counterculture" of course
<TarotMama> yesw, I have about 400 of them
<TarotMama> does that count?
<cak> I just got some as goodies with a SBS order!
<Jambalaya> WELL, DID YOU KNOW, YOU CAN STAMP ON THEM??
<Bibi> no, tell us how! :))
<Jambalaya> I WILL!!
<Bibi> kewl!
<Jambalaya> THEY ARE FUN
<Jambalaya> OK, THE LAMINATE SAMPLES ARE VERY EASY TO WORK WITH
<Jambalaya> CLEAN THEM UP WITH ALCOHOL TO PREPARE
<Jambalaya> IF THERE IS PRINTING ON IT, NAIL POLISH REMOVER WILL TAKE IT OFF MOST OF THEM
<Jambalaya> SOME IT WON'T
<Jambalaya> SAVE THOSE FOR PUTTING EMBOSSING POWDER OR UTEE ON WHICH WILL COVER THE PRINTING
<Jambalaya> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<stubby> hi cats
<Jambalaya> THE FIRST 4 PICTURES,
<stubby> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<BlackCats> hi, everyone
<Jambalaya> ARE STAMPED WITH PERMANENT INK, BRILLIANCE, STAZON, DOCUMENT INK, WHAT HAVE YOU
<Jambalaya> I LIKE TO HEAT SET
<Jambalaya> IT'S NOT NECESSARY WITH ALL INKS, BUT IT CAN'T HURT
<Jambalaya> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<Jambalaya> THEN THE IMAGES ARE COLORED IN WITH SHARPIE PENS
<Jambalaya> USE SHARPIE PENS TO "WATERCOLOR" WITH
<FrancesWV> Those are beautiful Jam!
<cak> and that's 30 seconds, no more no less?? (did I remember correctly)
<Jambalaya> YOU CAN USE THE YELLOW TO BLEND OTHER COLORS
<Jambalaya> LOL, CAK, THAT WAS FOR DOMINOES, BUT YA, SAME PRINCIPLE<G>
<cak> (ooops, well I thought it was for *something*)
<FrancesWV> Have you tried the Adirondack markers on the laminate?
<Jambalaya> I HAVEN'T YET, FRANCES, BUT THEY SHOULD WORK WELL
<Vyx> we all already =have= sharpies in all the colors... :)
<Jambalaya> THEY WORK ON DOMINOES, AS LONG AS YOU HEAT SET, SO LAMINATE TILE IS SIMILAR
<TarotMama> o, frances, good idea
<Jambalaya> WHEN YOU LAY DOWN A COLOR, KEEP A TISSUE AT HAND TO BLOT UP EXCESS, THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT LOOK LIKE WATERCOLOR
<Jambalaya> COLORS CAN BE BLENDED TOO
<TarotMama> may i ask how you use yellow sharpie to blend?
<verbstamp> using yellow to blend? If you want yellow in the design, tight? What to use if ya don't want to use yellow?
<verbstamp> lol, Tarot, GMTA
<Jambalaya> IF YOU USE A LIGHTER COLOR TO BLEND, JUST "CLEAN OFF" PEN NIB BY SCRIBBLING ON SCRATCH PAPER
<verbstamp> k
<Jambalaya> WELL, I USEED YELLOW AS AN EXAMPLE BECAUSE IT'S THE LIGHTEST COLOR OF SHARPIES
<TarotMama> do you blend on a palette, or on the laminate tile itself?
<Jambalaya> ON THE LAMINATE ITSELF
<Jambalaya> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<stubby> hi andrea
<stubby> hik pat
<stubby> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<pmstamper> hi there everyone.
<TarotMama> one more ?.. can you sue a blender pen with sharpies.. or a waterbrush filed with alcohol?
<Jambalaya> IF YOU DON'T LIKE A COLOR, JUST GO OVER IT WITH ANOTHER COLOR, AND KEEP SCRIBBLING ON SCRATCH PAPER TO CLEAN OFF NIB
<TarotMama> sue = use
<Jambalaya> I DON'T KNOW ISIS, TRY IT, AND REPORT BACK TO US
<TarotMama> k
<pmstamper> I use a waterbrush with alcohol for sharpies ink on dominoes all the time.
<Jambalaya> OK, ANY MORE QUESTIONS ON FIRST 4 PICTURES??
<Jambalaya> GREAT PAT, IT SHOULD WORK THEN
<TarotMama> ty pm!
<Jambalaya> LAMINATE SURFACE IS VERY SIMILAR TO WORKING ON DOMINOES
<BlackCats> may have missed first step. did you use a base coat or anything?
<Jambalaya> NO MONICA, JUST CLEAN IT WITH ALCOHOL
<BlackCats> ty
<stubby> you know we think about things on cards all the time, but these would be cute hanging on lamps, drawers, think about them like some decorate with tassels
<Jambalaya> YES ANDY!
<Judy> good idea, Stubby!
<FrancesWV> On wind chimes or mobiles too.
<Jambalaya> THEY ALSO MAKE GREAT FRIDGE MAGNATS
<stubby> yes
<BlackCats> or as Xmas tree ornaments
<Jambalaya> MAGNETS
<pmstamper> oh yes, that sounds great.
<BlackCats> you'd need to do both sides for that, though
<stubby> glue two back to back for ornaments
<Jambalaya> OK, MOVING ON TO NEXT 2 SAMPLES
<stubby> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<Jambalaya> THESE WERE THE ONES THE PRINTING WAS STUBBORN ON<G>
<Jambalaya> SO I PUT IT IN AN ELECTRIC SKILLET
<Jambalaya> AND SPRINKLED VARIOUS EMBOSSING POWDERS ON IT
<Jambalaya> ANY OPAQUE EP WILL COVER UP THE PRINTING
<Jambalaya> THEN PUT UTEE ON IT
<Jambalaya> AND STAMPED INTO IT WHILE MOLTEN
<Jambalaya> I INK MY STAMP WITH BRILLIANCE INK
<Jambalaya> BUT YOU CAN STAMP WITH NO INK, OR ANY INK YOU LIKE
<Jambalaya> IT WON'T HURT THE STAMP
<verbstamp> ok to let EP fall onto electric skillet surface? what happens to it? Do you have a very colorful skillet by now?
<Jambalaya> ANY QUESTIONS??
<Jambalaya> LOL, VERB
<Vyx> verb, I think when it's cool you can pop it off
<Jambalaya> I USE PARCHMENT PAPER IN SKILLET
* verbstamp tries to picture instructions
<Jambalaya> SOME FOLKS USE THOSE TEFLON SHEETS
<verbstamp> REALLY? peel off? hmmmm, I smell an embellishment coming up......
<pmstamper> I have tried using a cup warmer, but it doesn't seem to get hot enough.
<pmstamper> or maybe I am just too impatient to let it heat up.
<TarotMama> ny vendors carry the teflon on cybermall?
<Jambalaya> MAY JUST TAKE A LONG TIME PAT, ANDY USES ONE OF THOSE FOR DEMOS
<Vyx> I pop stuff in the oven that other people blast with heat guns... :)
<Vyx> but NOT all the time in summer, lol
<pmstamper> I thought I have seen her do that, and that's why I got one.
<stubby> i don't any more
<Jambalaya> YOU COULD DO ALL THIS WITH A HEAT GUN TOO, IT'S JUST EASIER TO ME, TO USE HEAT UNDERNEATH, SO HANDS ARE FREE
<pmstamper> why, Andy?
<TarotMama> how hot do you set yr skillet?
<stubby> i don't have teflon sheets any more
<TarotMama> any reason andy?
<stubby> wrong answer to an unasked question
<pmstamper> oh, thought you were going to tell us about the dangers of cup warmers.
<Jambalaya> UM, THEY ARE ALL SO DIFFERENT, YOU HAVE TO TEST YOURS
<stubby> use, i do use the mug warmer for demos
<Jambalaya> ANDY, ARE WE WITNESSING A SENIOR MOMENT HERE??
<Bibi> lol
<stubby> probably
<pmstamper> lol
<Jambalaya> OK, LETS MOVE ON
<Jambalaya> THE NEXT 2 SAMPLES ARE JUST STAMPED WITH BRILLIANCE INK
<Jambalaya> I HEAT SET
<stubby> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<Vyx> full 30 seconds, right? :)
<Jambalaya> BUT IT WOULD PROBABLY DRY IN A DAY OR TWO
<Bibi> the background color is just form the chips?
<Bibi> from
<Jambalaya> YES BIBI
<Bibi> ok.... pretty
<Jambalaya> HIYA DEB
<FrancesWV> Must use the heat gun. I don't have the patience to wait for a day or two.
<Jambalaya> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<deb> hey ya
<Jambalaya> AND WELL, DRYING TIME DEPENDS A LOT ON YOUR CLIMATE
<pmstamper> I know I have said this before, but doesn't Jam have a real talent for matching fibers to her art.
<Vyx> She does, Sis is the Fiber Queen!
<Jambalaya> I LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS WHERE NOTHING EVER DRYS<G>
<Bibi> lol
<BlackCats> yes, she must have a large stash of fibers
<FrancesWV> It is always humid here. Probably why my ink pads never dry out.
<deb> these are gorgeous!
<stubby> hi deb
<Vyx> Yup, that too, Monica. :)
<deb> hi andy
* Jambalaya HAS A WEAKNESS FOR FIBERS<G>
<stubby> if she does not have it, she just goes and unravels a sweater or something
<Bibi> lol
<Judy> lol
<BlackCats> lol, there's a good idea
<stubby> or her cats bed
<Jambalaya> UH, NO NEED, I HAVE IT<G>
<Bibi> for the sake of art, no sweater is safe
<Jambalaya> FIBERS JUST FIND ME
<stubby> for sure, you should see her collection
<deb> find you?
<deb> lol
<Bibi> I'd love to see the collection
<Bibi> AND her
<Jambalaya> OK, I HUNT THEM DOWN WHEREVER I GO<G>
<deb> rofl
<BlackCats> I just saw an ad for a fiber shop about 1 hr away
* Vyx is lucky enuf to have done both... well, I didn't see the whole collection, but I was in the room...
<BlackCats> guess who has a roadtrip planned next week?
<stubby> and if it does not look like a fiber, she will make it turn into one with her magic fingers and wand
<Bibi> lol
<Jambalaya> LAST CONVENTION I WENT TO IN FLORIDA, WE FOUND A YARN STORE WITH REAL HIGH END YARN? I THINK I SPENT MORE THERE THAN AT CONVENTION<G>
<Bibi> lol
<pmstamper> ooh, lucky monica. Let us know what you find.
<stubby> see, i told you
<BlackCats> ok
<Jambalaya> OK, ON TO THE LAST 2 PICTURES AT THE BOTTOM
<stubby> and don't go to the dollar store with her either!
<Jambalaya> THIS IS THE SPOTLIGHT TECHNIQUE USING MINI DOMINOES
<Bibi> super cool, jambs!
<BlackCats> where did you find such tiny dominoes?
<deb> boy that last one is super
<Jambalaya> JUST STAMP BOTH THE TILE, AND THE DOMINO
<Jambalaya> THESE ARE THE TRAVEL SIZE
<FrancesWV> Walmart carries them.
<BlackCats> ty
<Jambalaya> I THINK I FOUND THEM AT WALMART QUITE SOME TIME AGO
<FrancesWV> Mine still carries them.
<FrancesWV> Just last week anyway.
<Jambalaya> THE CAROUSEL HORSE DOMINO WAS COATED WITH BRILLIANCE INK FIRST FOR BACKGROUND COLOR
<Jambalaya> THEN STAMPED AND COLORED IN WITH SHARPIES
<Jambalaya> HEAT SETTING IN BETWEEN EACH STEP OF COURSE
<Jambalaya> FOR HOW MANY SECONDS??
<BlackCats> 30
<Bibi> 30
Replied (private) CTCP PING from cak
PING delay for cak: 1 second
<Jambalaya> GOOD TO KNOW SOME FOLKS PAY ATTENTION<G>
<Bibi> we are good students
<BlackCats> :)
* Judy was waiting for cak to answer
<deb> lol
<deb> suck ups
<FrancesWV> Teachers pets
<Bibi> lol
<Jambalaya> THE BLACK AND GOLD ONE ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT WAS BRILLIANCE INK
<deb> I think that one is my favorite
<Jambalaya> OK, ANY QUESTIONS??
<deb> need my address?
<Jambalaya> AND DID I MENTION ALL STAMPS ARE FROM STUBBY STAMPERS
<deb> <G>
<FrancesWV> Yes. When are you sending us all one?
* verbstamp sits quietly in class....... making cache of spitballs.......
<deb> lol
<stubby> who is having a great sale soon
<Jambalaya> YES!!!
<FrancesWV> I am getting my order ready!
<Jambalaya> STUBBY IS HAVING A FIRECRACKER SALE!!
<Jambalaya> 25% OFF ALL STAMPS
<Bibi> yay!
<FrancesWV> What about us mail order customers?
<Bibi> wow!
<stubby> ty 25% off all single stamps
<verbstamp> wowzer!
<stubby> we love you too Frances
<FrancesWV> I was slightly confused about when to send payment.
<stubby> any time
<Vyx> Frances, we are all mail order customers, lol...
<stubby> we say July 17-19
<FrancesWV> I have to send a check, so no paypal or cc for me.
<stubby> but we will honor it anytime right now
<FrancesWV> I will have to mail out payment on Wed. or Thursday. Will that be alright?
<stubby> you can even email your order we will figure it for you and email you a total, don't efen havej to fool withj order form
<stubby> that will be great Frances
<FrancesWV> Thanks so much Andy.
<stubby> ty you vicki for making our stamps dance
<Vyx> Andy, think you have my credit card number corrected in your file? :)
<stubby> think so vyx
<Vyx> I just suddenly remembered a whole bunch of stamps I need need need, lol...
<stubby> last order went out fine
<FrancesWV> Jam has created a monster in me with her class on decorative stamping.
<Bibi> lol
<FrancesWV> I have been stamping and embossing for days now.
<FrancesWV> My shoebox is getting ready to be filled!
<stubby> good, that way you don't have to cook or clean
<FrancesWV> Exactly!
<Bibi> lol
<Vyx> hah, wish it worked that way!
<Bibi> it doesn't?
<stubby> ?
<verbstamp> what have you been stamping, Frances?
<Vyx> no... I'm still expected to cook. dammit.
<Jambalaya> HEH, WORKS FOR ME<G>
<FrancesWV> Honestly, it is the first time in quite awhile that I've actually sat down and enjoyed stamping so much.
<Jambalaya> THAT'S WONDERFUL, FRANCES
<FrancesWV> I've been stamping floral butterflies, designs, dragonflies, flowers, etc.
<FrancesWV> Anything that is easy to cut out.
<FrancesWV> And emboss.
<stubby> tell your family vyx you are on a stamping sabatical(forever)
<FrancesWV> Really Jam, I have to thank you. It has opened up a whole new world of stamping enjoyment for me.
<BlackCats> my dh doesn't like my cooking. lucky me.
<Bibi> lol
<Judy> lol, blackcats
<verbstamp> a sabbatical DOING stamping, right--not a sabbatical FROM stamping! (heaven forbid)
<Jambalaya> of with the caps now
<BlackCats> lol, better than off with your head
<Jambalaya> ty frances, that's so gratifying for a teacher to hear
<verbstamp> Frances, are you stamping stuff that will be future embellishments?
<pmstamper> shucks, was this a class I missed at the online convention?
<BlackCats> must have been, pat
<FrancesWV> Yes verb. Using lots of embossing powders and decorative stamps that are easy to cut out.
<pmstamper> darn, I had so much going on I was not able to attend much.
<FrancesWV> Doing it on different colors of cardstock, and on vellum too.
<pmstamper> sounds like fun Frances.
<FrancesWV> I had bought a really beautiful floral butterfly(it has flowers in the wings), and have been embossing it.
<verbstamp> yes, sounds like fun
<verbstamp> was this a logged class?
<FrancesWV> Then coloring in all of the flowers with different colors. One looks like cloisonne(sp?)
<stubby> sounds pretty frances
<FrancesWV> That is why I need lots of new decorative stamps from Stubby!
<FrancesWV> My addiction is growing.
<FrancesWV> And my stamps aren't
<Bibi> good, good, lol
<stubby> yahoo! keep it up jam!
<FrancesWV> Good for business and good for stampers. Can't do any better than that , huh Jam?
<Jambalaya> yes frances, you need quite a few more<g>
<BlackCats> pat, the name of the class was The Magic of Elements with Jambalaya on 6/29
<verbstamp> was this a logged class?
<FrancesWV> I will ALWAYS need more.
<stubby> never, never, enough
<verbstamp> ok, ty
<FrancesWV> I think it was.
<Judy> jam, when you paint boxes with lumieres, do they stay tacky?
<FrancesWV> Check under the unedited log pages.
<pmstamper> oh, thanks! I will check it.
<Jambalaya> judy, what boxes??
<Judy> cigar boxes, like your Boxes from the Heart
<Jambalaya> no, the lumieres dried fine
<FrancesWV> Humidity may keep them a bit tacky. I have that problem here sometimes.
<Judy> I just did two of them and the feet are slightly sticky
<Jambalaya> try zapping it with heat gun a bit
<Judy> ok, ty!
<Jambalaya> don't get too close though
<FrancesWV> They'll bubble up
<FrancesWV> The paint will, I mean.
<Jambalaya> lumieres will bubble if you get too close, and they are still moist
<Judy> they feel dry, but the feet stick
<FrancesWV> Some of these heat guns are meant for removing paint in the first place.
<Jambalaya> if all else fails, spray a workable fixative on it
<Judy> k, thanks again
<FrancesWV> I think the Milwaukee is.
<FrancesWV> Anybody know where to find some nice Moire embossing powders?
<FrancesWV> I got one jar from RADesigns recently, but they don't even have any of them on the website.
<FrancesWV> I need more embossing powders to feed my new addiction.
<Judy> thanks for class, jam! Nite all!
<Jambalaya> frances, have you seen the perlelustre from stampendous??
<BlackCats> nite
<FrancesWV> Nite Judy
<Jambalaya> nite judy
<Jambalaya> thanks for coming
<FrancesWV> No Jam, I haven't
<Jambalaya> they are luscious
<Jambalaya> and stubby has them<g>
<BlackCats> great class, jam
<BlackCats> I need to go too
<Jambalaya> ty monica
<BlackCats> see y'all later
<FrancesWV> Are they on the site Stubby?
<FrancesWV> Nite Monica
<Jambalaya> no, not on site, sorry
<Jambalaya> one of these days
<FrancesWV> Maybe I can find a color chart somewhere else, then order them from Stubby
<FrancesWV> I do that all the time
<stubby> ty frances
<stubby> stampendous may have them on their site
<stubby> i order mine from stampendous
<FrancesWV> I'll check and see. I would really like to try some new colors.
<FrancesWV> Gold is getting old.
<FrancesWV> I'm a poet and didn't know it!
<stubby> now yu can call it antique gold
<FrancesWV> LOL
<FrancesWV> I think embossing is highly underrated.
<Jambalaya> frances, the colors are gemstone colors
<Jambalaya> like ruby, amethyst, etc
<stubby> pretty, pearly, and rich
<FrancesWV> Ooooooooooo! I need to see these!
<pmstamper> Ok, I was looking at the Design elements pics and if you don't tell me how you dry embossed duct tape I will be up all night trying to figure it out.
<Jambalaya> ya, i know<g>
<Jambalaya> oh pat, you didn't watch me demo that at sia???
<Jambalaya> shame on you
<pmstamper> I am just tooo impressed.
<FrancesWV> I asked the same question during her class.
<Jambalaya> OK
<FrancesWV> Apparently there is backing tape on the duct tape.
<Jambalaya> IT'S AIR CONDITIONING DUCT TAPE
<pmstamper> I didn't get to go to SIA.
<Jambalaya> OH YEAH!! I FORGOT
<stubby> hurricane, remember
<Jambalaya> IT'S A SMOOTH METAL TAPE, WITH A RELEASE PAPER BACKING
<stubby> wb
<April> sorry..got sidetraked
<FrancesWV> Hi April
<Jambalaya> COMES ON A ROLL FROM HOME DEPOT, AROUND 4 OR 5 BUCKS
<April> Hi Frances!
<pmstamper> ok, nifty.
<pmstamper> Luckily, Home Depot is open 24 hours and its only 10 p.m. here.
<Jambalaya> JUST PLACE IT FOIL SIDE DOWN ON A STENCIL, AND RUB WITH LARGE BALL ON EMBOSSING TOOL
<Jambalaya> THIS IS BLIND EMBOSSING
<Jambalaya> ONCE YOU CAN SEE THE PATTERN, GO IN WITH SMALL BALL OF TOOL, AND DETAIL
<Jambalaya> USE A LIGHT TOUCH
* pmstamper going to get ready for quick trip before bedtime.
<Jambalaya> AFTER YOU FINISH PATTERN, TAKE IT OF STENCIL, AND PUT IT ON A MAGAZINE, FACING UP
<Scout> Have a question to ask.
<FrancesWV> Couldn't you just lay the tape down on a mouse pad and turn the stencil upside down on the tape?
<Jambalaya> THEN STIPPLE AREAS WITH EMBOSSING TOOL, FOR A HAMMERED METAL LOKK
<Jambalaya> LOOK
<Jambalaya> MOUSE PAD IS TOO SOFT FRANCES
<pmstamper> very cool. I love what you did with it.
<Jambalaya> AFTER YOU'VE STIPPLED ALL YOU WANT, TAKE BACKING OFF, AND STICK THE PIECE DOWN TO A PIECE OF CARDSTOCK
<Jambalaya> NOW IT'S STABLE, AND YOU CAN SMOOSH BRILLIANCE PADS ONTO IT
<FrancesWV> I'm sure it's a lot cheaper than those metal sheets in the stores, plus the adhesive is already on there.
<Jambalaya> USE ONE COLOR AT A TIME, AND HEAT SET IN BETWEEN
<FrancesWV> I just love the hardware department.
<Jambalaya> MAKE SENSE??
<FrancesWV> Yes maam
<Jambalaya> CAN I STOP YELLING NOW???
<Scout> even better explanation than the one you gave the first time, Jam!
<Bibi> lol
<April> lool
<FrancesWV> Yes, feel free to.
<Jambalaya> lol
<pmstamper> yes, thanks so much for explaining it. My jaw is still on the floor.
<Jambalaya> scout, that was janet<g>
<Scout> ooooh! that explains it. tee hee
<Jambalaya> janet taught this technique
<FrancesWV> When the class was originally taught.
<April> ooohhh
<FrancesWV> Jam is giving us a refresher.
<Jambalaya> which she always gracefully admits she swiped from me
<FrancesWV> Oh, the horror!!!!!!
<FrancesWV> Janet swipes?!?
<Scout> Today at the convention, in a class, they said that the Prismacolors are in several consistencies. One is hard and that you really couldn't blend that very well. Another is a soft Prismacolor, which blends beautifully.
<FrancesWV> I'm aghast.
<Jambalaya> roflmao
<FrancesWV> The verithins are really hard.
<FrancesWV> The regular one are not.
<Jambalaya> what convention???
<pmstamper> lucky scout, getting to a stamping convention?
<stubby> you blended them with what scout, blending pens?
<Scout> Now I am still looking for the box my Prisma colors came in, so I can see if I have the hard or soft. He said the old ones were both round pencils, but now one is a six sided one. He also said that
<Scout> you can blend them together, just using the different strokes or using a white or yellow pencil. Not a mention of blending pens.
<stubby> i was gonna say that the white blends them beautifully
<Scout> Jam, the Carson, CA convention.....still open tomorrow. but anyway, wish I could find my box to see if mine are the right ones.
<stubby> everybody needs a white primacolor pencil
<FrancesWV> You can test them to see for yourself.
<stubby> it is excellent for so many things
<stubby> shading
<April> yupp
<FrancesWV> I've tried the Verithins and they are very hard and leave a very defined line when you color. They don't blend well.
<Scout> Yes, he mentioned them also.
<Jambalaya> there are no markings on the pencils, to tell which is which??
<FrancesWV> But the other ones blend wonderfully. I've never heard of an "old" or "new" form of the Prismacolors.
<stubby> what else good did you learn scout
<Scout> But he acted as if the softer ones were a newer product than the regular Prismacolors.
<Scout> No, Jam, he said you have to look on the box. Can ANYONE tell me where I put the box?
<stubby> look under something scout
<pmstamper> lol, scout, it is in the last place you will look.
<FrancesWV> The set I have, I must've bought at least 8 years ago at Staples, and they blend very well.
<Jambalaya> lol, i bought mine loose a few at a time, so i'd never know<g>
<stubby> rule of organizing, neve put anything larger on top of anything smaller
<Scout> Well, mine are at least 6-7 years old, too
<FrancesWV> You could check at the Sanford website and see if there really is anything new or different.
<pmstamper> do the pencils harden over time?
<stubby> ouch, i would probably land on a point!
<FrancesWV> If anything, maybe the sight of a box will jog your memory.
<Scout> Had a fun time watching the gal from Polly's Pals do brass stencils and chalk, then Dreamweaver stendil; creme.
<FrancesWV> I need some stencils.
<Scout> Hang on a sec, Stubby
<FrancesWV> I live vicariously through other peoples convention experiences.
<stubby> folks i am gonna go on to bed, all of you have a great Sunday, enjoyed it!
<Jambalaya> thanks andy
<FrancesWV> Nite Andy!
<Jambalaya> sweet dreams
<FrancesWV> Sleep well
<pmstamper> nite andy.
<Bibi> nite
<stubby> your class was great jam
<Jambalaya> ty
<Scout> I was surprised to see the Curtis Collection booth, plus Curtis stamps at Paula Best and at one other booth.
<Jambalaya> i'm not familiar with curtis
<Kriztina> curtis uyeda
<Kriztina> he died
<Scout> Curtis Uneyda (?spelling) the wonderful Asian stamp maker who died a couple years ago.
<Jambalaya> oh ok
<pmstamper> oh, yes, I have seen them. He did beautiful work.
<cak> I've never seen them, but I've heard such good things about them
<FrancesWV> I' m going to get going to ladies. Have a good night!
<cak> Night Frances
<pmstamper> nite frances.
<Jambalaya> nite frances
<Bibi> nite frances
<Scout> nite Frances
<FrancesWV> Nite everyone.
<cak> Do classes at conventions usually cost money? (well, besides the stuff you feel compelled to buy after one)?
<Jambalaya> ya, the hard part is not being able to buy everything you see in classes<g>
<Scout> it depends, Cak, these are really just demonstrations in separate rooms, rather than at booths. At the Artagogo in SD in June, they had classes with people like Mary Jane McGraw on Fri, and they were several hours long and ran $65-135.
<Scout> each
<Jambalaya> hi jb
<jbcatnap> hi everyone
<cak> hmmm, worth it, but would I rather spend it on stuff?
<cak> Hi jbc
<jbcatnap> I missed the class,, how soon do the logs become available?
<Jambalaya> i love mary jo mcgraw, could watch her for days
<cak> depends on my schedule jbc
<Scout> The make-it take it classes on sundays are usually free, and some are also held right at the booths on Sat, and you just wait in line, till a spot opens up, then you sit down and do your sample.
<cak> anywhere from 3 hours to 12 months (I've been trying to keep up with the recent ones though)
<jbcatnap> ok... does anyone have the URL from the class handy? so I could take a peek?
<Jambalaya> http://dm.net/~jambalaya/counterculture/
<jbcatnap> well that is a lot of work I imagine...
<Scout> I am usually running all over trying to see each and every booth, so never have time to wait and then sit down.
<Jambalaya> actually, though, this class was a repeat from i think the spring convention, so it should be in the logs from then
<jbcatnap> thanks.. I just started playing around with these tiles or chips... I did one so far that came out ok..
<pmstamper> what did you do jb?
<jbcatnap> I think I have a scan, but I dont have anywhere to put it for you to see unless I can email it to you?
<jbcatnap> I used UTE and then did an impression with a small Celtic cross
<Jambalaya> jb, here is the log from february
<Jambalaya> http://www.dm.net/~cak/unedtranscriptstuff/030302b.html
<jbcatnap> oh Great, thanks!!!
<pmstamper> Oh that sounds nice. I think picture trail is still offering free accounts if you don't have a place to post.
<jbcatnap> I will have to check that out, cause it would be nice to have someplace to put some of my stuff when I want to show it to someone
<jbcatnap> Is there a product that you use to seal the chips after you have stamped on them? I did a couple with inks and ep and then they flaked off easily
<pmstamper> nite everyone, unfortunately I have to get back to work some more before bedtime. See you later.
<jbcatnap> nite pm
<Jambalaya> nite pat, sweet dreams
<Jambalaya> jb, what kind of ink did you use??
<Jambalaya> and did you heat set it??
<jbcatnap> i tried versamark and I used reg pigment inks
<Jambalaya> ok, those are not going to work on a non-porous surface
<Jambalaya> you need permanent inks
<jbcatnap> and ep and then heated it it seemed ok but then it flaked off if you touched it
<Jambalaya> brilliance, ancient page, document ink, stayzon, etc
<Jambalaya> regular embossing, is not the best method for these
<jbcatnap> ok I'll read the log you gave me.. I did use the Brilliance on one but didnt try to emboss that.. I have to get some other inks...
<jbcatnap> ok, I'll read and then try some of the ideas and methods from there

[there was some discussion about what to do with duplicated stamps in our collections]
<Scout> At our stamp club, we have a meeting where everyone brings in one or two stamps that they have no idea of what to do with. They are assigned to someone else and they take them home and stamp up a card or two with them, then give the cards and stamps back the next month to the person who brung them, thereby giving them a new idea of
<Scout> how to use them
<Bibi> great idea
<Vyx> Great idea, unless you are me. I don't even know how to use what I have and WANT let alone someone elses!
<Kriztina> i'm with vyx
<Scout> It is interesting to see what ideas other people come up with that you wouldn't think of in a million years.
<Jambalaya> usually, if i just stamp it out, the image will speak to me
<Jambalaya> sometimes they say i'm butt ugly
<Scout> Does it talk dirty?
<Bibi> LOL
<Vyx> Yah, but you are a darn sight more creative than some of us, Sis.
<Jambalaya> nah
<Bibi> I only have one stamp that I know that will never ever use, and it says greetings from Wyoming...
<Vyx> rotflmao, Bibi!
<Jambalaya> lol
<Kriztina> lol
<Vyx> I know we have a couple of people in Wyoming on the list, however...
<Bibi> unless y'all ahve an diea? lol
<Vyx> Or at least I think they are in wyoming... Isn't AAS based there?
<Kriztina> cut it apart and just use greetings?
<Bibi> I may have trashed it.... not sure
<Jambalaya> no
<Jambalaya> aas is in uhhhh, idaho??
<Vyx> Idaho?
<Bibi> kriz, I could do that.... but alreayd ahve Greetings form Norway that I use.
<Vyx> well, it's close... maybe THEY know someone in wyoming.
<cak> I'd be tempted to use it on the front of a card, with something like, "so I lied" inside
<Bibi> LOL!
<Jambalaya> rofl, cak
<Vyx> rotf, CAK!
<Bibi> good one, cak.
<Bibi> If I find it again, I will do that
<cak> well, I'm drifting again. I think I'd better say goodnight
