<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<MomCat> Trudy that is the class page for today

<Trudy> I dont know how this works, but I think I`ll manage

<MomCat> and it has a link for yesterday's class

<MomCat> we look at the samples together and talk about it

<cak> I think you can click on the url and it will open another browser window to see the page

<Trudy> Is it the color wheel page

<Trudy> Hi stampesse

<MsProf> thanks for ww

<Stampesse> oh okey

<Janet> LOL I got an extra hour of sleep last night :)

<Torhild> yes i`m norvegian

<Trudy> Me too

<MomCat> Hi, Janet, Torhild and pmstamper

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<Torhild> Hi MomCat!

<Stampesse> me too!!

<cak> (this is a good time for European stampers to come to class, so we have a great international flavor now)

<MomCat> that is today's class page

<pmstamper> Hi MomCat, thanks for the page.

<Trudy> When do we start?

* Jambalaya tosses the caps to MomCat

<Torhild> brb baby crying

<Bibi> ok

<MomCat> HAS EVERY BODY FOUND THE PAGE

<Bibi> yup

<MomCat> IF YOU WEREN'T HERE YESTERDAY

<Bibi> hi verb

<Trudy> I` m sorry, but I have to go. Something came up here at home

<MomCat> THERE IS A LINK ON THAT PAGE TO THE COLOR WHEEL

<Stampesse> the card is so great! when I first looked at it I thought oh I cant do that...but when reading the instruction its so simple...even me can do it!!

<Bibi> ok

<Gunvor> ok Torhild!

<MomCat> BYE TRUDY TAKE CARE

<Bibi> come back later some time

<Trudy> I`ll be back tomorrow instead

<Bibi> great!

<cak> see you later Trudy

<Trudy> BYE

<MomCat> YOU'LL BE WELCOME

<cak> (come back soon)

<Bibi> ha det bra

<Stampesse> its so cool with such online classes...I didnt know they existed until recently!

<Bibi> they are indeed cool

<MomCat> tHIS CLASS STARTED BACKWARDS FOR ME

<MomCat> USUALLY i DECIDE ON A CLASS

<MomCat> AND THEN MAKE THE SAMPLE(s)

<MomCat> THIS TIME I MADE THE SCENE WITH THE GIRAFFE

<MomCat> THOUGHT THAT IT WAS SO EASY AND SO PRETTY THAT i SHOULD TEACH IT

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<MomCat> HI, STAR

<Star> ty

<MomCat> YW

<Bibi> glad you made that decition, MomCat!

<MomCat> SO THEN I HAD TO MAKE STEP BY STEP SAMPLES

<MomCat> TY, BIBI

<Bibi> yw

<MomCat> THE SUNSET IS ON WATERCOLOR PAPER

<MomCat> THE HILLS ARE CRUMPLED, TORN CONSTRUCTION PAPER

<MomCat> AND THE GIRAFFE WAS STAMPED ON REGULAR CARDSTOCK AND CUT OUT

<MomCat> THE SUNSET IS PAINTED ON DRY PAPER

<MomCat> WITH JUST CHEAP, KIDS WATERCOLOR PAINTS

<Bibi> cool (cheap is good..lol)

<MomCat> FIRST YOU PAINT A WIDE BAND OF YELLOW

<MomCat> A LITTLE LOWER THAN YOU WANT THE SUNSET TO START

<MomCat> ALONG THE TOP OF THE YELLOW BAND, PAINT A BAND OF RED

<MomCat> BLEND THE RED AND YELLOW BANDS TOGETHER, USING MORE PAINT OR PLAIN WATER

<MomCat> NOW WE WANT TO ADD BLUE SO WE CAN HAVE BLUE AND VIOLET AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE

<MomCat> BUT IF WE ADD THE BLUE RIGHT ONTO WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE

<MomCat> SOME OF THE BLUE IS GOING TO MINGLE WITH THE ORANGE

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<MomCat> AND BLUE AND ORANGE WE LEARNED YESTERDAY ARE COMPLEMENTS

<MomCat> THAT IS, THEY ARE DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM EACH OTHER ON THE COLOR WHEEL

<MomCat> AND WHEN YOU MIX COMPLEMENTS

<MomCat> YOU GET A SORT OF BROWNISH, GREY MUD COLOR

<MomCat> SO PAINT ANOTHER BAND OF RED AND BLEND IT A LITTLE INTO THE ORANGE

<MomCat> AND THEN PAINT A BAND OF BLUE AND BLEND IT WITH THE TOP OF THE SECOND RED BAND

<MomCat> IF YOUR COLOR ISN'T AS BRIGHT AS YOU WANT IT IN SOME PLACES

<MomCat> YOU CAN ADD MORE

<MomCat> AND IF IT IS TOO BRIGHT

<pmstamper> is there such a thing as too much water on the paper?

<MomCat> YOU CAN DAB AT IT WITH A CLEAN PAPER TOWEL IF IT IS STILL WET

<MomCat> OR ADD WATER IF IT HAS ALREADY DRIED

<MomCat> PM

<MomCat> YOU HAVE TOO MUCH WATER IF YOUR PAPER BUCKLES

<pmstamper> ok, thanks. I tried the paper towel to sop some up.

<MomCat> BUT FOR SOME TECHNIQUES YOU WANT TO MAKE THE PAPER VERY WET

<MomCat> SO YOU CAN FASTEN THE PAPER ONTO YOUR DESK WITH MASKING TAPE BEFORE YOU START

<MomCat> YOU PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS NEED MASKING TAPE FOR JANET'S WATERCOLOR CLASSES

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<MomCat> ANY QUESTIONS

<Bibi> not yet

<MomCat> HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE WORKING ALONG WITH THIS?

<stampster> i am

<Jambalaya> i have before, fun, isn't it?

<cak> I like to tape things down just to keep from chasin' the silly thing around the desk top

<Stampesse> I¬m just reading....its no room to do anything here at the pc:(

<pmstamper> i am

<MomCat> STAMPSTER, I JUST WENT THROUGH THE TECHNIQUE

<cak> How are they coming out stampster and pmstamper?

<MomCat> BUT IT'S ALSO THERE ON THE PAGE

<MomCat> AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE LEARNED IT JUST FROM THE PAGE

<Janet> can I say something real quick?

<stampster> coming out nice

<MomCat> pLEASE

<MomCat> GOOD

<MomCat> PLEASE, DO, JANET

<pmstamper> mine is looking good.

<pmstamper> after help from the quicker picker upper paper towel.

<MomCat> JANET?

<cak> oops, she'll be back

<Bibi> ooops, she fell off

<Gunvor> strap her to the chair

<MomCat> THAT EXPLAINS WHY IT WASN'T SO QUICK

* Jambalaya looks trough the pipe

<Bibi> lol

<MomCat> PLEASE DO SHARE jANET

<MomCat> JANET IS OUR WATERCOLOR GURU

<Janet> LOL

<Star> I can't type in my message...help

<Janet> yeah. I was just going to say that if you have your paper stretched (taped to the desk or a work surface) that it may buckle with a lot of water, but will dry again flat

<Star> ok, it is working...yeah

<Janet> so don't untape it before it's dry

<Jambalaya> star, you just did

<Janet> that was it. not worth the wait<g>

<Star> ;)you know Star

<pmstamper> ty Janet

<MomCat> YES IT WAS

<Bibi> good tip there, janet

<cak> it will stay buckled if you do? (good thing to know)

<Bibi> I usually cannot wait....

<Star> do I put the blue above the orange? I am behind

<MomCat> BECAUSE i DIDN'T KNOW IT WOULD DRY FLAT EVEN IF IT BUCKLED WHILE TAPED

<Janet> well, yeah, if you untape it when it's buckled, it will dry buckled.

<Janet> nothing making it straighten up and fly right

<MomCat> YOU PUT A SECOND BAND OF RED

<Janet> so soak those papers!

<MomCat> AND BLEND THE BOTTOM OF IT INTO THE ORANGE

<Star> oops...over the yellow?

<MomCat> BLUE

<MomCat> RED

<MomCat> RED

<MomCat> YELLOW

<MomCat> LIKE THAT

<Star> ok...got it

<MomCat> SOME DAY i AM GOING TO TRY THIS TO MAKE AN OCEAN SCENE

<stampster> that would really be pretty

<Janet> (use salt to get the ocean white caps)

<MomCat> WHAT COLORS WOULD I NEED TO PAINT AN OCEAN?

<stampverb> and add a Speedo to the giraffe?

<Jambalaya> blue

<Janet> well, what colors do you see?

<Jambalaya> green

<MomCat> WOULD I NEED GREEN PAINT?

<Janet> gray? brown? what color is the sky today?

<MomCat> WHAT COLORS OF PAINT WOULD i NEED

<Jambalaya> i guess it could depend on the ocean<g>

<Bibi> yellow, red, blue

<MomCat> yES!!! BIBI!!!

<Bibi> and mix your own

<Bibi> what did I win? lol

<Janet> okay, bibi, you got it covered<g>

<Bibi> yep

<Bibi> I had a good teacher (MomCat)

* MomCat PASTES A GOLD STAR ON bIBI'S FOREHEAD

<Bibi> LOL! thanks

<Janet> cute!!

<Bibi> very

<stampster> yeah bibi

<MomCat> OKAY

<Bibi> okay...

<MomCat> ANY MORE QUESTIONS?

<pmstamper> I am getting some harsh lines, what should I do to blend it?

<Janet> water!!

<MomCat> ADD A LITTLE WATER WITH YOUR BRUSH

<Janet> your paper was too dry sounds like

<pmstamper> okeydokey

<Janet> add a lotta water<g>

<Gunvor> could one use waterpens for this?

<MomCat> WATER BRUSHES?

<Gunvor> ah yes - sorry

<MomCat> BRUSHES WITH WATER IN THE HANDLE

<Gunvor> yup

<MomCat> PROBABLY

* Gunvor has bought something she doesn't know how to use

<Star> how do you get more water in the handle? mine is getting dry? any tips?

<cak> Gunvor's not the only one

<MomCat> i HAVE NEVER USED THOSE

<pmstamper> that is what I am trying

<Star> they are great if you can figure out how to get the water in the handle ...lol

<Jambalaya> star, i'll tell you after class

<stampster> i have them but never have used them yet

<MomCat> WHO HERE HAS USED AND LIKES THE WATER BRUSHES?

<cak> the ones I have unscrew so you can refill the barrel

<cak> I've only played with them--not really used them

<Gunvor> sounds like mine

<Bibi> I like them for bleach, but not watercoloring

<MomCat> TELL US NOW, jAM IF YOU LIKE

<MomCat> HE GE

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<pmstamper> I have used them with alcohol in them to blend dye inks on dominos, but not watercoloring.

<Jambalaya> to fill waterbrush, you squeeze it and put it in a glass of water, it will suck up the water

<Star> ok.....I was just trying the sucking from a small dish...ty

<Jambalaya> or, you can just squeeze it under running tap, it sucks as you let go

<pmstamper> Another question?

<MomCat> YES?

<pmstamper> If you want to make a color more intense, should you wait until it totally dries before adding more color?

<MomCat> jANET?

<Janet> yes?

<Janet> oh want me to answer that?

<MomCat> i DON'T THINK SO, PM, BUT i WOULD REALLY LOAD THE BRUSH WITH COLOR AND NOT MUCH WATER

<Janet> no, Pat. for this sky don't let your paper dry at all until you're happy

* Jambalaya hands janet more coffee

<MomCat> YES, PLEASE JANET

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<cak> you would get "dry lines" if you let it dry?

<pmstamper> thanks. I am getting to particular about my sky probably.

<Janet> Get your papers really wet, seriously wet, then float your colors on the water. don't make puddles. if you get puddles get a paper towel and sop up the puddle

<MomCat> fOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CAME IN LATE, SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE LEARNED HOW TO DO THIS JUST FROM LOOKING AT THE CLASS PAGE

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<Janet> then keep putting on color until you're happy with it

<Jambalaya> and remember too, that watercolors dry a bit lighter

<MomCat> IT'S REALLY FUN AND EASY

<Janet> perzactly, Vicki

<stampverb> Mom, your sample was done with DRY paper, right?

<ge> :d

<MomCat> YES

<ge> :d

<MomCat> I AM A DRY PAPER PERSON

<MomCat> EXCEPT IF I AM IN JANET'S CLASS

<stampverb> lol

<Janet> LOL then I'm saying water, more water, water is your friend!!

<MomCat> THE FIRST TIME I DID A SUNSET THAT FADED FROM YELLOW TO BLUE THIS WAY

<Janet> they don't call 'em paper colors. put more water on that!!

<Janet> LOL I am a water person with skies

<MomCat> I DID IT IN A COMPUTER GRAPHICS PROGRAM

<Janet> I like them to blend

* Jambalaya straps ge in the chair

<MomCat> AND i KEPT RUNNING OUT SIDE TO LOOK AT THE SKY

<MomCat> THEN i HAD THE COMPUTER PICTURE TO LOOK AT WHEN i DID THE WATER COLOR

<Janet> you got the important part right, Diane. LOOKING

<MomCat> HI, ANNIE

<Annie> hello

<MomCat> CLASS PAGE IS AT http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<MomCat> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html

<Annie> Thanks

<MomCat> YOU'RE WELCOME

<MomCat> WE HAVE PRETTY MUCH FINISHED GOING THROUGH THE TECHNIQUE, BUT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LEARN THIS FROM THE CLASS PAGE

<MomCat> AND THE CLASS PAGE HAS A LINK TO MY COLOR WHEEL CLASS PAGE

<Jambalaya> ge, stop pressing the blue flower, that's what's knocking you out

<MomCat> I TEACH THE COLOR WHEEL CLASS AND THIS CLASS ON THE FIRST sATURDAY AND SUNDAY OF EVERY CONVENTION

<MomCat> SO PAINT LOTS OF SUNSETS EVERYBODY

<MomCat> PUT THEM UP ON A PAGE

<Gunvor> we will MomCat

<Star> thanks MomCat....it was fun

<MomCat> AND SHARE THEM WITH US IN THE SPRING

<stampster> thanks for sharing this was my first time here doing a convention class

<MomCat> YOU ARE WELCOME

<Bibi> okay, will do

<cak> you're doing more watercolor fun tonight, aren't you Janet?

<Janet> No, not until next weekend.

<cak> cool stampster--there's lots more

<cak> oh no! I was all set to get wet

<stampster> i will definitely be back

<MomCat> gREAT!

<Janet> But we can have watercolor lab every afternoon (evening if you're in Europe)

* Jambalaya squirts water on cak

<Bibi> lol

<cak> wheeee!

<cak> that sounds like fun Janet

<Star> every afternoon? really? when?

<cak> (even if I can only color virtually in the afternoon)

<Stampesse> sounds great!!

<Janet> it will be. come to the 10 minute project class, that's every afternoon at 3 (or 9 p.m. if you're in Paris)

<Janet> then after that class, if there's not another class after it, we can have lab

<pmstamper> cool.

<Jambalaya> cool

<Star> hey, cool

<stampster> yep way cool

<cak> very cool. Thank you Janet

<cak> I guess I should try out some more watercolor!

<Janet> and I'm sure you all were already planning to come to 10 Minute Projects class :)

<Jambalaya> i'll be ther!

<Janet> Yes, Charlotte. Bring your paints.

<Bibi> ju betcha

<Gunvor> but of course Janet!

<cak> of course--those are fun too. (and quick, you don't lie)

<Star> For a long time I have been trying to get into chat and could not...so, I am happy to be here

<MomCat> OKAY,

<stampster> me2

<Janet> yay Star!!

<pmstamper> I like this technique, MomCat. It is a quick way to lay down some color on a background for card.

<Star> quick and pretty.....what a good combination

<pmstamper> And it looks like it took a lot of work to do.

<cak> you'll just have to keep coming back (practice, practice, practice)

<Annie> When is the next class?

<pmstamper> yes, I definitely need more watercoloring practice, haven't done this since highschool.

<MomCat> i'LL SEND A NOTE ABOUT THAT OUT TO THE EURO STAMPERS ON MY ANNOUNCEMENT LIST IN A COUPLE OF HOURS

<Gunvor> thanks for a great class MomCat!

<cak> this background would be good for trading cards too

<MomCat> THANKS FOR COMING EVERYBODY

<Jambalaya> http://www.cyberstampers.com/schedule.html

<stampster> yes thanks was very informative

<MomCat> THANK you, GUNVOR

<Janet> you could do a whole page of this, but use your masking tape to divide the page up into trading card sizes

<Gunvor> thanks for having us!

<Janet> I've done that before

<Stampesse> yeah thank

<Stampesse> s

<stampverb> once you start painting sunsets, you realize how complex they really are in real life--how MANY colors!

<cak> Thanks MomCat, yet again--I love easy and elegant

<stampster> till next time

<Janet> start looking at the sky!!!

<cak> oooo yeah Janet--instant border

<Star> I have a great watercolor story...my mom had alzheimers and I would find her sitting in her chair painting in the air. I would ask her what she was painting and she'd always answer....sunsets

<cak> (i see it! I see the UFO!)

<Janet> (that's no UFO, that's the neighbor's cat)

<cak> I bet they were beautiful Star

<pmstamper> that is so sweet, Star.

<Janet> I know they were beautiful

<cak> (lol Janet)

<Star> she is up there painting the sunsets now...she was a painter

<Star> still is, I suspect

<Bibi> :)

<stampster> ;)

<Janet> I'm sure she is. there are so many evenings I know angel painters are helping with that sky

<stampster> bye till next time

<Janet> see you all next class!

<Jambalaya> come back soon

<Stampesse> byeeee

<Bibi> bye Stampster

<Janet> (that I don't know when it is but I'll look and be here)

<pmstamper> thanks again MomCat. See y'all later tonight.

<Jambalaya> and check schedule daily

<MomCat> Star, that is beautiful

<Jambalaya> http://www.cyberstampers.com/schedule.html

<stampverb> MomCat, I like your hint about keeping the complementary colors from making mud

<MomCat> thanks

<Star> yes, mud was a good hint

<MomCat> surprisingly I did not learn that the hard way

<stampverb> that happens to me when I use the super-wet approach

<Janet> (I did)

<MomCat> thanks for coming all

<MomCat> i need to leave now

<Bibi> thank you for having us!

<Star> ok, thanks again, I am gong to look at the vendor list and schedule again...hope I can get back in

<stampverb> so maybe i'll have better luck staying dry!

<Bibi> ok, bye MomCat

<Janet> yes, I need to make samples for tomorrow's class

<MomCat> see you around cyberstampers this evening

<stampverb> thanks for the class, Mom!

<Bibi> bye all

<Janet> we'll be looking for you, Star

<cak> lots of socials tonight!

<Bibi> see ya around

<Torhild> gee I missed it all

<Jambalaya> did you get the class page Torhild?

<Torhild> yes I did

<cak> well, the log will be posted (as soon as I get the icons ready) and MomCat teaches this during each convention

<cak> not the same as being here, but better than nothing

<Jambalaya> and mom is around often, you can always ask her questions

<Jambalaya> and janet too

<MomCat> Bye all

<Jambalaya> bye mom

<Torhild> by mom

<Jambalaya> hi Anita

<Anita> Hi

<cak> have fun Torhild!

<Jambalaya> great Torhild

<cak> http://www.dm.net/~cak/colormixing/000819alt.html is the class page. You should be able to get a good start with just MomCat's instructions

<Torhild> bye

<Anita> We lost the power supply...

<Jambalaya> i hate that

<cak> how disappointing--not a thing you can do about that

<Anita> it went all dark for two hours..

<Anita> brrrr

<cak> our furnace is out and so I'm glad I've got a very warm laptop as a heat source

<cak> there's chat in #cyberstampers if you just want to hang out Anita

<cak> (do you know how to change rooms?)

<Anita> I click on cyberstampers?

<cak> you do! you may want to come back and leave this room after you join #cyberstampers
