<jenmist> hi gang

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<enchy> oh! those are very pretty jen

<jenmist> ty

<jenmist> and very easy

<LuniLadi> oh..how cool jen

<jenmist> this class will take about 5 minutes

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<enchy> umm easy is as easy does - i think i could make a mess (especially if the cats helped)

<LuniLadi> 5 minutes? r u kidding?

<Jambalaya> before jen gets started, could those of you who left body parts in craftclass close out of there please?

<jenmist> really this is liek 4 steps

<jenmist> I'll try and drag it out - lol

<LuniLadi> gee, how come I never get something so cool in 4 steps?

<deb-away> lol

<LuniLadi> hey deb-away...come back

<jenmist> I think these could make awesome Xmas cards using seasonal colors

<Stampesse> jambalaya did I do it now+

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<Jambalaya> yes stap, ty

<deb-away> i snuck in

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<jenmist> http://www.napruszewski.com/jenifer/class.htm

<jenmist> this has links to all classes still online

<Vincentia> ... and to think I just bought a stained glass background stamp that looks like those !!!

<jenmist> I had to move some of my old class pages

<jenmist> lol

<jenmist> My DD wants to use this idea to make frames for pictures on her scrapbook pages

<jenmist> should I repeat the steps here?

<jenmist> HMMM - EVERYONE MUST BE LOOKING

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<StayC> yes, please repeat....

<CrzyStamp> yes, jen, we want the steps

<stampverb> yes, please review steps

<cak> but of course--on both the looking and the repeating

<jenmist> SUPPLIES: CARDSTOCK, DOUBLESTICK SHEET OR XYRON, EMBOSSING POWDER

<jenmist> LOL

<pmstamper> yes looking at fantastic samples. What a clever idea!

<jenmist> AND HERE IS A CHANCE TO USE EMBOSSING POWDERS YOU HAVE NOT FOUND A USE FOR

<jenmist> FIRST, CUT UP SCRAP CARDSTOCK INTO SMALL GEOMETRIC SHAPES

<jenmist> IF YOU ARE LIKE ME YOU HAVE AN ENVELOPE OR BOX OF SCRAPS YOU THINK YOU WILL USE SOMEHOW

<jenmist> NEXT TAKE A SHEET OF CARDSTOCK CUT INTO THE EVENTUAL SHAPE YOU WANT FOR YOUR FINISHED PIECE

<jenmist> . RUN IT THROUGH THE XYRON TO MAKE ONE SIDE STICKY OR CUT A PIECE OF DOUBLE STICK (LIKE REDLINE) TO FIT, PEEL OFF ONE SIDE AND ATTACH IT TO YOUR CARDSTOCK.

<cak> I am like you!

<jenmist> i HAD POSTCARD PACKS OF CS I PICKED UP AT CONVENTIONS AND USED THOSE

<cak> (I just have a lot of mistakes when cutting)

<jenmist> COLOR OF THE BASE CS MATTERS IF YOU PLAN TO USE A CLEAR SYTLE EP AT THE END

<jenmist> ROFL - ME TOO

<jenmist> NOW PEEL DOWN TO EXPOSE THE ADHESIVE AND BEGIN TO PLACE THE GEOMETRIC SHAPES ONTO THE STICKY PART, LEAVE ROOM FOR THE 'GROUT'. IT HELPS TO NOT COMPLETELY EXPOSE ALL OF THE ADHESIVE, JUST PEEL DOWN AS YOU GO.

<jenmist> THAT PEEL DOWN AS YOU GO IS VERY HELPFUL IF YOU HAVE CATS

<cak> lol--I was thinkin' the same thing

<jenmist> OR YOU HAVE KLUTZY TENDENCIES

<jenmist> THIS A GREAT WATCH A MOVIE TYPE OF THING

<jenmist> MIX AND MATCH COLORS AND TEXTURES AS YOU DESIRE, YOU CAN EVEN STAMP ON THE SCRAP CARDSTOCK BEFORE CUTTING INTO PIECES FOR A MORE TEXTURED LOOK.

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<jenmist> ALL DIRECTIONS ARE ON THE PAGE TOO

<jenmist> IF YOU ARE VERY CLEVER YOU COULD PROBABLY ARRANGE THEM TO LOOK LIKE SOME SPECIFIC OBJECT

<jenmist> I JUST WENT FOR GENERAL MOSAIC LOOK

<jenmist> AND AS YOU CAN SEE I MIXED UP TO COLORS A BIT

<jenmist> WHEN THE SHEET IS COVERED COVER WITH EMBOSSING POWDER OF YOUR CHOICE

<jenmist> I USED SOME GLITTER ONES AND OTHER UNIQUE COLORS

<jenmist> I THEN TAKE THE SHEET I PEELED OFF THE ADHESIVE AND PLACE BACK OVER THE DESIGN, I PRESS AND RUB TO GET THE EMBOSSING POWDER IN EVERY CREVICE.

<jenmist> THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE THICKNESS OF THE LITTLE PIECES USED MAY VARY

<jenmist> YOU REALLY WANT THE SPACES WELL FILLED

<jenmist> NOW YOU NEED TO BRUSH OFF THE EXCESS EP THOROUGHLY.

<jenmist> I USED A TOOTHBRUSH ACTUALLY

<jenmist> AN UNUSED ONE OF COURSE - LOL

<cak> so you can really scrub on this?

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<cak> (of, if you're Janet or me, your husband's)

<jenmist> I DID NOT SCRUB DIRECTLY OVER THE EP I WANTED

<jenmist> LOL

<pmstamper> lol

<jenmist> BUT BRUSHED OVER THE CS

<cak> gotcha

<jenmist> IT WAS A VERY SOFT TOOTHBRUSH

<jenmist> HEAT TO MELT THE EP.

<jenmist> YOU MAY HAVE EXCESS CORNERS HANGING OFF - CUT THEM OFF

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<jenmist> NOW YOU CAN USE THIS AS A BACKGROUND, I TRIED STAMPING DIRECTLY ONTO IT BUT DID NOT HAVE GREAT SUCCESS, THIS MAY BE DUE TO DIFFERENT PAPER TYPES USED - TEXTURED AND GLOSSY BOTH.

<jenmist> IT SEEMS LIKE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO STAMP DIRECTLY ON IT

<cak> I wonder if the foamy-type stamps would be better (give a bit more?)

<jenmist> I THINK YOU NEED NARROWER GROUT LINES TO DO THAT ALSO

<jenmist> THAT MIGHT WORK TOO

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<jenmist> I DECIDED TO RESORT TO MY FAVORITE VELLUM

<jenmist> IN MY SAMPLES I STAMPED ON VELLUM AND EMBOSSED IN A COLOR THAT WENT WELL WITH OR MATCHED THE EP I USED ON THE MOSAIC. I ATTACHED THE VELLUM PIECE WITH XYRON BACKING OR TINY BRADS.

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<jenmist> INSTRUCTIONS ARE ON THAT PAGE

<jenmist> YOU COULD ALSO CUT THE PIECE INTO SMALLER SHAPES AND USE AS EMBELLISHMENTS OR MAKE A FRAME IN THIS FASHION.

<jenmist> THAT IS IT - SEE HOW FEW STEPS IT REALLY IS?

<Vincentia> jenmist is a genius !

<cak> I think that frame idea is great--you could cut out the place where the picture goes and use it as a card background for the gift

<jenmist> YES

<jenmist> I SAW THIS IDEA ON A SCRAPBOOK SHOW AS A SMALL SQUARE EMBELLISHMENT AND STARTED PLAYING WITH IT

<LuniLadi> this is great jen! I've got some eps that would be great to use (finally!)

<jenmist> THOSE ARE METAL EMBOSSED BUTTERFLIES

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<stampverb> beautiful

<jenmist> I SMOOSHED ON SOME CHALK INK AND THEN SPINKLED WITH CLEAR EP AND SET

<lynne> how neat

<jenmist> ALSO SAMPLE 5 IS GOLD CS FOR BACKGROUND AND CLEAR CS FOR THE GROUT

<jenmist> http://www.mistusa.com/class/mosaic/instruction_page.htm

<Vincentia> now I know what to do with my extra punched shapes

<jenmist> YES

<MsProfAFK> Jen, sorry I missed class, but just opened the samples. Those are lovely!

<jenmist> TY

<StayC> I have gone back several times to #5....how did you get that wonderful shiny gold edge around that butterfly?

<jenmist> IT IS VERY EASY

<MsProfAFK> k, so... where's my prize? hahahaha juuuuuuust kidding

<jenmist> I DIPPED THE EDGES INTO INK AND THEN INTO EP

<Larry> Very nice

<StayC> and it looks dry embossed or something...I see texture...

<MsProfAFK> that's an easy technique that yields great results with the chalk inks, too.

<jenmist> IF YOU SEND YOUR SNAIL TO JENMIST@MISTUSA.COM YOU CAN HAVE ONE OF THE SAMPLES

<MsProfAFK> oooh!

<jenmist> I DO LOVE THOSE CHALKS

<jenmist> SPECIALLY THE CATSEYES

<MsProfAFK> I do, too... finally bought myself every color they make

<jenmist> I LOVE DTP WITH THEM

<jenmist> EVEN I MADE A COOL LANDSCAPE BACKGROUND WITH THOSE

<MsProfAFK> yep, they are especially good for taking "gawdy" colors of cardstock and "sueding" them. With a complete application of the chalk over the paper, you get this really rich color with the main color still showing through.

<jenmist> YES

<MsProfAFK> I would like to see the background sometime.

<jenmist> I AM SURE I ALREADY SEND THAT CARD OUT

<MsProfAFK> Perfect for that "crapstock" you sometimes buy because it's sooooooooo cheap.

<jenmist> I WAS TRULY THINKING ABOUT A CLASS ON DTP WITH THE CHALKS

<jenmist> BUT MAKING EVERYONE DO IT WITH ME

<lynne> ewwwwwwwww. I have lots of that

<MsProfAFK> you should do it. I would help you with it if you needed help.

<jenmist> TY

<MsProfAFK> or I would just attend if you needed audience

<LuniLadi> got to go...son called from college....thanks jen..great class!

<jenmist> I WAS NOT SO THRILLED WITH DTP BEFORE - CHALKS ARE MUCH NICER FOR IT

<jenmist> TY

<MsProfAFK> yes, they are great

<MsProfAFK> I have already lost my "lipstick red" cat's eye, and have to order another one. lol

<jenmist> MY CLASSES ARE DONE SO QUICK- I FEEL LIKE JANET

<enchy> what kinda chalks?

<pmstamper> I think you would have a good attendance at that class, jen.

<enchy> oily ones?

<MsProfAFK> Did you guys see that Clearsnap is finally selling the roller hoods for the Rolltap applicator separately? So you can just replace one and not the whole handle

<jenmist> THE CHALK INKPADS

<enchy> oh

<MsProfAFK> the fluid chalk inks from Clearsnap

<enchy> i was so confused

<enchy> i thought ya'll meant chalk chalks

<MsProfAFK> lol@enchy. Fabio breathin' in your ear?

<jenmist> GREAT IDEA

<enchy> fabio is at WORK - where boys need to be

<jenmist> ROFLMAO

<enchy> earning money to give to me

<MsProfAFK> I will be posting info about these later in a Comm. Sometime. lol

<cak> good boy, goooood boy

<enchy> yes

<MsProfAFK> Lil' prof is home with strep :(

<enchy> he is a good boy - he washed the dishes before he went to work

<enchy> how old is lil prof?

<MsProfAFK> I was in doctor's office today.

<MsProfAFK> 6

<jenmist> I AM AFRAID I WILL NOT GET BACK TO MY CHALK EXPERIMENTS UNTIL AFTER XMAS CANDY SEASON

<enchy> oh he is a little boy

<jenmist> POOR BABY

<enchy> yes
