<CindyC> i predict, bbq beef sandwhiches, beef and noodles, and roast beef with carrots and taters
<Shannon> pot roast at my house means somebody died.
<CindyC> yup, they were on sale
<CindyC> and why not use the oven heat for three rather than just one? plus the chicken in another pot of course
<CindyC> hi phyl

<CindyC> doc said i could eat when the bleeding stopped so i am!
<CindyC> yummy
<grandmum> I love soup. You can drink it from a cup with no dribbles.
<Judy> Cindy has half her mouth numb, grandmum
<grandmum> Oh no, mouth surgery?
<CindyC> so what recipes yall got for us?
<cak> (and a great silence falls upon the room)
<Bibi> OUR MASTER CHEF, THE JANET, COULD NOT BE HERE RIGHT NOW, BUT WE CAN TALK FOOD, CAN'T WE?
<Bibi> PERSONALLY, I THINK FROZEN PIZZA IS AN ABSOLUTE GODSEND
<stamperdr> can you buy liquid glucose in the US?
<CindyC> bibi you can leave cyber
<Bibi> AND I WILL TAKE OFF the caps now, we dont need that
<cak> I don't know stamperdr
<stamperdr> need it for a VERY choccy recipe...
<prplrose4> i thinkj you caan
<cak> mmmmm, tell us anyway. We all love chocolate (well, most of us)
<Bibi> are you all out there shopping? *s*
<lil> ok--crockpot+pork loin roast+1 can cranberry sauce and 1cup cranberry juice==3 helpings for grandson
<lil> and I am picking the leftover right now
<cak> mmmm again! How long do you cook it?
<prplrose4> sounds yummy
<Bibi> oo, I love cranberry-anything
<anno> wow.
<grandmum> Is that it? Just those three ingreds?
<lil> all day on low worked for me-stayed very moist
<cak> and do you just dump the ingredients in?
<lil> yep
<anno> maybe smoosh the sauce around a little..
<anno> the jelly kind, or the kind with berries?
<grandmum> Hmmm, sounds good & pork loins are on sale this time of year
<lil> yea I smooshed it on top of the meat
<Shannon> i like to cook those pork tenderloins with a can of coke poured overit. makesit sooooo moist.
<lil> I used the berry kind as I had it on hand
<CindyC> SOUNDS YUMMY
<cak> just dump and cook on low all day Shannon?
<Bibi> coke is really great
<prplrose4> you just pour coke on it
<CindyC> oops
<anno> I have a chicken crockpot recipe that calls for putting 1 c ketchup and 1 c coke in a pan and hotting it up and pouring it over a chicken (or enough parts to equal a chicken) in the crock pot and cookin' it all day...
<Shannon> yeah cak. sometimes i cut up onions and add them.
<anno> I haven't done it in a while but the kids ate it when they were little, which is saying a lot!
<Phyl> you can also simmer them in chicken and rice soup and make gravy from the juice
<Shannon> y'all ever made beer butt chicken?
<Bibi> beer butt?
<cak> lol--no. You *must* share!
<grandmum> No, what is that?
<Bibi> yeah!
<prplrose4> no
<Judy> saw it on TV recently
<Shannon> you take half a can of beer and cram it up a chicken's butt so it's sort of impaled on the beer can. then cook the whole hting on your grill.
<anno> oh..
<Shannon> makes the chicken so moist it just falls off teh bone.
<anno> i've seen like a.. tipi for doing that, in some catalog..
<baby> i've heard of that recipe, beer but chicken
<baby> i heard it was moist
<Shannon> it's good. you season the chicken however you want and the beer makes it moist and tender.
<prplrose4> oh we did that once it was good
<CindyC> but cooking with aluminum is supposed to be a nono these days...lol
<Bibi> it is?
<CindyC> yea they say it causes alzeimers sp?
<Phyl> aluminum poisoning
<baby> aluminum=alzhiemers
<anno> ack!
<CindyC> but could be a myth, i don't know
<Phyl> not supposed to use deodorant with aluminum in it either
<Bibi> cindy forgot how Altzheimer is spelled
<Shannon> oh tha'ts been around for years. just drinking cokes outta the can is sposed to increase your chances.
<CindyC> lol
<Judy> lol
<jenmist> here is a pork chop one
<CindyC> go jen
<jenmist> slather chops with mustard and brown in small amt of oil
<CindyC> go jen
<jenmist> put a layer of sliced onions in raster or casserole
<jenmist> lay browned chops over
<jenmist> more onions
<jenmist> then a can or 2 of chicken rice soup
<jenmist> bake at 325 for 2 hours
<jenmist> can add mushrooms too
<jenmist> I toss potatoes in the oven too
<dusty> How about quicky Chicken and Dumplings?
<anno> can we add more rice?
<Shannon> sounds yummy
<jenmist> never tried that anno
<anno> yes please, dusty
<jenmist> it is way family fave from years back
<Bibi> sounds easy, too
<dusty> boil a couple of chick breasts till done
<dusty> pick chick apart
<anno> I can do easy chicken pot pie.. after dusty easies up my chicken and dumplings!
<dusty> add a can of cream of celery & a can of cream of chick soup
<dusty> take a can of biscutes from dairy section
* Bibi is drooling
<LauraK> *lol* I think that in the us there is a whole lot more canned soups than here!
<dusty> pull these into bits put into chicken soup when it's all boiling.
<anno> cream of mushroom soup is the glue that holds the universe together, laura.
<prplrose4> we have a lot of canned soups
<dusty> We'll send u some Laura
<Bibi> lol
<LauraK> *laughing*
<LauraK> :)
<anno> and cook it til they're fluffy, dusty?
<dusty> yep
<anno> pot pie is even easier!
<anno> you buy a box of pie crust..
<anno> the already rolled kind.
<anno> and a can of chicken,
<dusty> biscuts will float when done.
<anno> and a can of mixed veggies,
<anno> and a can of cream of anything soup.
<anno> and you put one piece of the pie crust in the pie pan,
<anno> mix the canned things together,
<anno> put them in,
<anno> put the other crust on top,
<anno> and bake it, 10 minutes at 450, 30 minutes at 350,
<anno> and it's done.
<baby> that is easy
<grandmum> That sounds simple enough
<Shannon> i make mine the same way anno. cept i usually use leftover ch icken
<dusty> i gotta try this one anno. my ds loves pot pies.
<stamperdr> 1pt d cream, i small tub l glucose, 5 TBSPS alcohol (rum, brandy or some such), crushed ginger biscuits (cookies!), and 1lb of dark choc........ok?I bet Laura knows this one!
<anno> 2 cans of veggies is better, really.
<stamperdr> this is the choccy thing for afters!
<anno> well.. I usually use cooked chicken too, but the official recipe calls for canned!
<scrappyga> Jambalaya, I finally found my way to here, woooo:p. Sorry to interupt the recipe discussion, but can anyone tell me how to get the green light specials from the vendors? I've gone to their links through the vendor list and only get their regular prices when I try to place an order. Help
<anno> you can use any leftover meat too..
<jenmist> rofl - if you need treats for after order candy from me!!
<anno> like hamburger pot pie or leftover pork pot pie or whatever.
<anno> small tub glucose..
<scrappyga> Anno, you're gonna be sick of me by the end of tonight. LOL
<Shannon> is this glucose like you get at the pharmacy?
<LauraK> i think that this will sound incredibly silly but I feel like the whole us is full of empty cans! :) I have always found it funny when i read american recipes as you always need these ready cake mixes or cans of this and that and we never have any of those *lol*.
<stamperdr> yup
<LauraK> all this food sounds too good!
<dalis> CindyC I never understood what what the char that you were typing before the #recipes... LOL
<cak> man stamperdr, that sounds *rich*. You just mix it together? No cooking (I hope)?
<anno> I will never be sick of y ou, scrappy!
* Shannon has never cooked with glucose....just gave it to the niece with blood sugar problems.
<anno> I don't know glucose.
<CindyC> but you made it yay dalis!
<anno> would you like my soup recipe?
<stamperdr> line dish with cookies which you have crumbed!
<anno> I made amazing soup last week...
<anno> I call it.. mexican fagiole ravioli gumbo.
<CindyC> def! anno!
<LauraK> *lol* super name!
<stamperdr> then whip crean lightly, meanwhile melt choc over water..add alcohol and mix well
<anno> ok.
<scrappyga> Anno, how do I get the green light specials from the vendors?
<anno> I will pause.
<anno> you have to email them your order scrappy.. you can find their email addresses in their individual booths,
<dalis> (d) OK I'm getting a drink to see if I can keep up w/ you ladies.... LOL
<anno> and the booths at the convention main page (www.cyberstampers.com/convention)
<scrappyga> OK, I did that! Thanks! Gail
<stamperdr> add to cream and spread over the cookie cr=umbs....you will capture the 'chocolate hearts' OF EVERYONE who eats this!
<scrappyga> These recipes sound wonderful!
<anno> did we find out what glucose is yet?
<cak> mmmmm--finally a chocolate recipie! thanks stamperdr
<baby> i need chocolate
<stamperdr> Laura do you recognise the 'Delia' ???
<anno> chocolate I know!
<cak> I should ask too--found in the drugstore?
<LauraK> no.. i don't think so.. hmmm...
<stamperdr> yup
<anno> corn syrup?
<LauraK> But I tell you what.. i wish I had some here right now :)
<Bibi> does anyone have any fave recipe website?
<stamperdr> as in Delia Smith??????
<anno> allrecipes.com
<grandmum> recipes.com
<stamperdr> allfoods.com
<scrappyga> Maybe the glucose is sugar?
<anno> I'm working my way through the 5* soups this winter.
<anno> oh..
<anno> but in a can.
<anno> 1 small can sugar.
<stamperdr> NOT sugar....it won't work
<anno> ?
<anno> wonder what we have that would equal that..
<prplrose4> I think they have liquid glucose by the bugar
<cak> it's a type of sugar (simpler than our table sugar which is sucrose)
<stamperdr> liquid glucose is obtainable from the pharmacy......
<dalis> you can get glucose in any cake specialty store
<Judy> does the glucose go in the cream or the chocolate?
<prplrose4> sorry sugar not bugar
<anno> but my made up soup...
<cak> (lol prplrose4--kept thinking it was some kind of specialty bean)
<Sprout> I am going to work on a swap. Be back later.
<anno> you take 1 lb italian sausage and cook that up with a chopped up onion and some chopped up celery.
<stamperdr> in the melted choc.....then add the whole lot (including the alcohol) to the cream
<prplrose4> lol
<anno> then you put in two cans of tiny diced tomatoes (or you can dice your own, that'd be about.. 4 cups worth)
<anno> and then you add a bunch of water,
<anno> and two fistfulls of lentils,
<anno> and 2 fistfulls of red beans.
<cak> dry beans anno?
<LauraK> italian sausage.... salami???
<anno> and 1 t of basil, oregano, cilantro, and ..thyme.
<anno> yes, dried beans.
<anno> no..
<anno> not salami..
<scrappyga> prp, I thought that maybe you were from another country, other than USA, and that bugar was a measurement there. lol
<anno> fresh italian sausage.
<anno> raw.
<anno> you have to cook it before you eat it.
<prplrose4> lol
<anno> any sausage you have to cook before you eat will do, I expect.. or hamburger and more spices.
<LauraK> ok, *lol*, we don't have that one either :) *laughing*
<anno> some spicy meat!
<LauraK> I will just have to use my imagination :)
<anno> what the heck.. chop up some salami, it may be tasty too.
<anno> rofl!
<Judy> lol
<LauraK> LOL!
<baby> lol
<anno> I got lost.
<anno> now..
<stamperdr> ok beddy times for me......gotta go dream about chocolate! Night to you all.....
<anno> you're cooking this all along now..
<anno> ok?
<stamperdr> byyyee
<anno> it takes a long time because there's dried up beans in it.
<stubby> nite stamperdr
<prplrose4> night stamp
<LauraK> bye! good night
<cak> night stamperdr (thanks for the choc fix)
<baby> bye
<Judy> nite, stamperdr
<Bibi> g'nite stamperdr
<anno> next you're gonna add...
<cak> just simmer it along for a while anno?
<anno> yep.
<anno> a long while.
<anno> a sack of frozen soup veggies which include okra.
<anno> mmm. okra.
<anno> hehehe
<anno> or any other veggies you want.
<anno> handful of frozen corn,
<Judy> is that for Jam, anno?
<anno> handful of carrots..
<anno> no.....
<Judy> the okra?
<anno> it's to make the soup nice and thick.
<anno> we're gonna cook it forever, and okra disappears if you cook it long enough.
<anno> thank goodness.
<anno> :)
<LauraK> I think i will have to get to bed soon too.. it is 2.30 here already... and will continue tomorrow and talk more to you all! :)
<anno> or nearly.
<Judy> :)
<anno> and then you add a box of dried up itty bitty ravioli pasta to it,
<anno> and cook it a while more.
<anno> and when that's done, it's soup.
<anno> oh.. maybe some pepper..
<anno> and a can of rotel with the ravioli..
<dusty> Nite Laura
<anno> that's the mexican part.
<anno> night, laura!
<prplrose4> nite
<LauraK> good night! I really had a lot of fun already! :) thank you all!
<cak> sounds good--lovely flavors in there and it seems like it cooks itself
<anno> well.. you nurture it all day,
<cak> Night LauraK! don't forget European trivia too
<anno> but mostly in passing!
<LauraK> I won't!!! will be there in the morning :)
<anno> just add something every time you pass by....
<anno> and by dinner time it's done.
<prplrose4> sounds good
<cak> I bet it smells heavenly
<anno> I love to make soup.
<anno> small bits of effort spread out all day.
<dusty> love smelling it simmer all day
<CindyC> i hate okra except as a veg. seasoning in soup!
<anno> I like fried okra with chicken fried steak at cracker barrel once a year.
<anno> and in soup..
<Judy> okra is very good when its dipped in cornmeal and fried!
<anno> where I live.. irmo.. that's what we celebrate.
<anno> every beginning of october.
<anno> we have the Okra Strut.
<anno> it's bizarre.
<anno> people dress up like okras.
<Judy> what a picture that would make
<anno> babys dressed like okras are cute.
<stubby> no anno
<anno> but..
<anno> beyond that..
<anno> it's uncute.
<anno> and there's an okra slurping contest..
<anno> seriously,
<stubby> no
<Phyl> oh lordy
<anno> every year, a picture in the paper, of some geezer with stewed okra slime sloppin' off his face..
<anno> and an okra recipe contest..
<Bibi> yikes
<Phyl> eeeeeeeeeeeeeew
<cak> stubby's in denial?
<stubby> the okra strut, never heard of such!
<Judy> oh, yuck
<anno> first year we were here, okra rhubarb cake won.
<anno> I haven't looked since..
<Bibi> lol
<Judy> do they have okra ice cream?
<CindyC> ewwww
<stubby> i like fried okra but i never thought of dedicating a dance to it
<anno> we went to the festival the first 2 years we were here but not since..
<anno> so.. I dunno!
<anno> there's a parade too!
<stubby> no anno
<anno> yes!
<Judy> anno - where do you live?
<CindyC> an okree king and queen?
<stubby> in okraville!
<Judy> lol!

<Phyl> i would hate to see what the crowns look like
<anno> rofl.
<anno> I live outside irmo SC.
<cak> btw, who was it who had the easy enchiladas? I want that recipie again (and I'm hungry, can you tell?)
<stubby> does andy and opie taylor come to it?
<anno> what kinda enchiladas?
<anno> they live in NC.
<anno> on the virginia side.
<cak> chicken if I remember correctly
<Judy> book marked the page
<stubby> oh
<anno> I can do easy chicken enchiladas..
<anno> cook some chicken..
<anno> chop it up..
<anno> you chop up a can of green chilis and a bunch of green onions, and mix that with cream of chicken soup and sour cream (small carton)
<anno> and you put chicken and cheese in the tortillas and roll it up,
<anno> and smear that other stuff over top,
<anno> and then sprinkle a little cheese over that, and bake it while you hot up some refries and chop some salad..
<anno> and call it dinner.
<Bibi> sounds like dinner to me! :P
<cak> thank you!
<stubby> fit for a king!
<Bibi> yup, and a queen as well
<Bibi> <<---- da queen of da house
<lil> gotta go too bb soon
<cak> duh, my brain has definitely gone on vacation. I can't even think of anything I make that's easy. Except have DR do it (DR is my spouse)
<CindyC> hey terribear
<terribear> Hi cindy..
<Bibi> order in, or buy frozen stuff. (I'm such a good cook, can you tell?)
<cak> hey, it works
<Bibi> yup
<Bibi> last convention, I almost burned down the house 3 nights in a row
<Bibi> forgot that I was cooking
<dusty> i just learned to do baked potatoes in my crock pot
<Judy> ouch, Bibi!
<Bibi> since then ,I was banned from the kitchen, LOL
<anno> oh..
<prplrose4> they were good
<cak> ooops Bibi. Convention over cooking every time
<anno> I can do more easy stuff..
<CindyC> dump meat into pot, add cream of something soup (or white sauce if you don't have the soup) a little water and slow cook
<anno> I'm the queen of easy.
<CindyC> add sour cream, or cream cheese, mr's whatever you fancy
<CindyC> eggs always makes for quick and easy dinners too
<anno> at the beginning, cindy?
<anno> oh yeah.. I love eggs for dinner..
<keribou> a casserole is a starch, a sauce and a protein or vegeatable- simple, simple
<CindyC> what anno?
<anno> chopped chicken in bottom of 9x13 dish, 2 boxes stove stop stuffing over top, 1 can of cream of celery and 1 can of cream of chicken mixed together over top of that and baked..
<anno> that's easy..
<anno> the cream cheese and sour cream in the crockpot?
<anno> at the beginning? or when it's done..
<CindyC> but i don't like stuffing
<CindyC> yes anno, one or the other usually
<anno> then you will pass on this recipe.
<CindyC> lol yup
<anno> ok, I know no more than I did before, I will pass on that recipe too. we're even!
<CindyC> lol
<cak> dusty--baked potatoes in a crockpot?
<dusty> Yes cak
<dusty> put a little oil on the skins and stand them up
<dusty> they can go all day on low or about 4 hrs on hight
<cak> cool--thanks
<dusty> i didn't believe this one until i tried it.
<Shannon> i didn't know you could do that in a crock pot.
<Shannon> cool.
<dusty> you can make tostados too.
<CindyC> yum
<Judy> how?
<cak> I want instructions ofr that one too please
<dusty> put some foil strips cross wise in bottom
<dusty> so you can lift them out when done.
<dusty> put flour or corn wrapper in first then some
<dusty> cheese beans, hamburger, onions, blk olives
<dusty> whatever you like.
<dusty> stack them up wrapper the yummies then more wrappers
<dusty> cook on low for 4 hrs.
<dusty> yumm
<Shannon> so they're not crispy?
<cak> can you fill the pot?
<dusty> no soft
<dusty> yes you can fill pot
<dusty> that's why you need the foil to lift them
<cak> thanks! yummy stuff ladies
* Shannon says that's not a tostada and offends her tex-mex sensibilities but admits it does sound good
<dusty> got this from tex-mex friend shannon
<Judy> lol, Shannon!
<CindyC> come on shannon tell us how you really feel.... lol
<Shannon> well...as a native texan...i've never ever seen a mooshy tostada
<Judy> sounds more like a flat burrito
<Shannon> yea it does. but i bet it's yummy.
<dusty> does.
<Judy> yeah - made me hungry!
