<purplrose> hi all
<sMaria> I love to use gelpens, they are lot cheaper than h20 and cheated few ;)
<Bibi> BACK!
<Bibi> HI purplrose
<LauraK> sMaria, I just got a 12 pack of H20 and they are wonderful!
<Bibi> HI SCOUT
<Scout> hi, everyone.
<sMaria> aaaaand so cheap ;)
<Bibi> EVERYBODY BACK IN THEIR SEATS?
<rochelle> yep
<Bibi> ARE YAAAAA READY????
<sMaria> go go go ;)
<CindyC> ready!!!!!!
<Bibi> THIS CLASS IS GOING TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT.....
<Bibi> USUALLY WHEN I HAVE CAPS ON IN CLASS, I'M TEACHING Y'ALL SOMETHING TOTALLY BREATHTAKING, RIGHT? (EVERYBODY SAY "YES MA'AM BIBI, YOU DO!").
<sMaria> yes bibi yes
<LauraK> yes ma'am!!
<Bibi> IS THAT IT?
<Bibi> LOL
<Bibi> NOW, THIS TIME, YOU ALL WILL TEACH *ME*!
<MomCat> Of course you do!
<LauraK> eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!
<Bibi> TY, TY, TY
<Bibi> THE TOPIC IS PENS - AND I DON'T USE PENS A LOT, SO I WANTED TO RUN THIS DISCUSSION TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW, AS I HOPE YOU WILL TO.
<Scout> you always teach breathtaking.....
<Bibi> 'G'
<Bibi> SO, WHAT HAVE WE GOT? bleach pens, blow pens, gel pens, glue pens, paint pens, gold leaf pens, gold leaf sizing pens, embossing and versamark pens, calligraphy markers, adirondack pens, marvy markers... THERE MUST BE A 100 DIFFERENT KINDS OUT THERE IF NOT MORE. WHAT DO YOU ALL USE AND HOW?
<sMaria> and dont forget smootching ;)
<Bibi> LOL!
<Lisa> I love my Galaxy markers to use on dark pages
<Olivianno> marvy markers...
<Scout> teehee, smaria!
<Olivianno> you want to see?
<LindaR> yes, i just got those new glaze pens yesterday, lets not forget them
<Olivianno> http://www.geocities.com/alsoanno/fatmarvies.html <---- marvy markers
<LauraK> i don't use any cool pens..
<rochelle> I just purchased the new sakura glaze pens, they are so cool , they write raised
<Olivianno> jhone was telling me about those glaze pens at lunch thursday, she said they were way fun.
<LauraK> rochelle - those sound cool!!!! are they fun to use?
<Olivianno> oh.
<anno> oops.
<rochelle> I love my krylon gold, silver and copper.
<Lisa> What gel pens will KEEP working??
<Bibi> OH, WOW, ANNO!! THAT IS REALLLLYY PRETTY!!
<Bibi> AH, YES, KRYLONS ARE KEWL!
<LauraK> I just bought two Krylon pens and can't wait to get to use those!
<anno> :)
<rochelle> The new glaze pens are really fun to use, you can actually let it dry and then go over it again to make the raised area even more raised
<Bibi> THAT SOUNDS FUN
<Judy> Sakura gel pens with glitter are great
<sMaria> I use gelpens and aquarell pencils, so nothing world turning here...
<LauraK> I do have a set of Marvy 'Le Plume' markers and I do love colouring with those!
<Bibi> ON WHAT AND HOW DO YOU ALL USE GEL PENS? I HAVE SOME, BUT NEVER USE 'EM
<Jambalaya> i have trouble with gel pens drying up, which is crazy, cuz nothing dries up in new orleans!
<Lisa> I mostly use gel pens on black pages
<CindyC> i don't use them either, though folks swear by em
<Lisa> I keep looking for fine lined pens that I can use on dark pages
<Bibi> I HAD SOME THAT DRIED UP, TOO.... NEVER USED
<rochelle> On black pages for journaling or for coloring
<sMaria> I may golor a picture first with aquarell pencils and then highlight corners and edges with matching glitter gelpen
<Bibi> ARE THE NEW GLAZE PENS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE "OLD" PENS?
<phyl> I have a set of Mars graphic 300 markers made by Staedtler that have lasted me ten years
<anno> jhone says they write on glass!
<phyl> and 95% of them are like new
<Bibi> THAT SOUNDED PRETTY, sMaria
<holly> They write on metal and plastic too
<rochelle> Very different, the ink is actually a thick texture, similar to and embossed image.
<rochelle> Very versatile
<holly> and the colors are transparant
<Bibi> WOW, MUST GET SOME OF THOSE....
<sMaria> I have had this same drying problem with expencive gel pens cheaper lasts longer and gives richer colour, somehow
<Lisa> is the line thick or thin?
<rochelle> I've had them for a couple of weeks now and so far they are all flowing nicely.
<Scout> wonder being thick, if these will clog up faster?
<Judy> Hearts in Touch in the mall has the glaze pens
<holly> in between Lisa
<anno> jhone has them too.
<anno> 20% off for convention!
<holly> of course you can make it thicker by holding it in place a little longer
<rochelle> Is there anyone out there who has tried the glaze pens that doesn't like them?
<MomCat> http://cyberstampers.com/convention/justjhone/
<Jambalaya> http://cyberstampers.com/convention/justjhone/
<Bibi> TY MomCat
<Jambalaya> lol
<MomCat> yw
<Bibi> AND JAMS, LOL
<MomCat> lol
<Bibi> HI SHANNON
<Shannon> did i miss anything good?
<Bibi> LOTS! LOL
<Scout> was waiting to get them till i found out how others fared with them....
<Shannon> figgers
<Jambalaya> yep you shoulda been here
<Jambalaya> <g>
<LauraK> brb
<Shannon> did we alrleady do glaze pens?
<CindyC> haven't tried the gel ones yet
<Bibi> WRITE ME FOR THE LOG, bibi@dm.net
<Jambalaya> http://cyberstampers.com/convention/justjhone/
<CindyC> i mean glaze... duh
<Bibi> OR CAK@DM.NET
<Jambalaya> jhone has the glaze pens
<Bibi> THERE IS ONE KIND OF PEN THAT I DO USE A LOT, WHICH IS EMBOSSING PENS - DO YOU ALL USE THOSE, TOO?
<Bibi> I LOVE THE ONE WITH A FLAT TIP, FOR CALLIGRAPHY
<Bibi> IF I DONT HAVE THE WORD STAMP I WANT....
<stampverb> Scout, I have heard mostly positive reviews of the glaze pens, but some folks say too expensive for what you get
<sMaria> I have 6 of them and I have tryed to use them couple of times but I can«t get familiar with them...
<Bibi> EMB PENS, sMaria?
<sMaria> somehow I think they dry out before I can emboss them...
<Bibi> YES, DEPENDS ON THE PAPER
<CindyC> i have lousy hand writing so i have lots of alphabet stamps to create words that i don't have already made into stamps
<Bibi> SOME PAPER WILL SUCK THAT INK RIGHT UP
<CindyC> the versamark pen is wonderful for not drying smaria
<CindyC> much thicker
<Bibi> YEAH, GOTTA LOVE ALPHABET STAMPS
<Jambalaya> i do calligraphy, but i'd rather stamp it<g>
<BlackCats> oh, never thought of using the emb pens for writing. thanks for tip, bibi
<Bibi> I USE THE EMB. PENS ON THE EDGES A LOT
<sMaria> these seems to be tsukineko emboss dual pens
<Bibi> YW, BlackCats :)
* BlackCats says Ms Bibi has a full bag of good tips today
<Bibi> A GRABBAG
<BlackCats> lol
<MomCat> I want to put my boss' name on a clear ruler
<Bibi> NEVER KNOW WHAT'S IN IT
<CindyC> i would try the Adirondack pens for the mom
<MomCat> so I am going to print the name with the puter, put it under the ruler and trace with a glaze pen
<Bibi> YOU COULD EMBOSS IT.. MAYBE?
<CindyC> if not alpha stamps
<Bibi> AH...
<Bibi> HI KY
<KY> hello all
<KY> hi bibi
<stampverb> I recently got some metallic pens that are a lot cheaper than the Krylons but not quite as effective: by Sharpie (at office supply stores)
<Bibi> WE ARE DISCUSSING DIFFERENT KINDS AND USES OF PENS
<Bibi> HAVE ANY FAVE?
<CindyC> adirondack pigment pens!
<Scout> gee, momcat, I read that wrong and first and got the picture of you putting the ruler into the printer....yakkkkk!
<MomCat> rofl
<Bibi> SEE, I BOUGHT THOSE ADIRONDACK ONES.... BUT I FORGOT WHY I NEEDED THEM
<Judy> wish we could do stuff like that
<KY> i just picked up some glitter ones not bad.... gel pens I don't have luck with them they seem to dry out fast
<Jambalaya> oh i know some pens i use a lot, the pentel metallic brushes, they are great
<CindyC> for glass, plastic, wood, you name it
<CindyC> brb
<MomCat> isn't there a difference between metallic markers and leaving pens?
<Jambalaya> yes mom
<MomCat> leafing
<stampverb> which are the leafing pens?
<Jambalaya> the leaf pens are a different "ink/Paint
<KY> sharpies aren't acid free and good to use in scrapbooks or card making from what i understand
<stampverb> Krylon?
<MomCat> Krylon
<Bibi> KY, THAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM WITH SOME BRANDS OF GEL PENS
<stampverb> ok
<sMaria> are those tombows any good? We have those in our craft store but they are quite expencive...
<KY> do u all store yours on there side or up and down which do u find works best
<Bibi> GOOD QUESTIOON! ANY GOOD ANSWERS?
<Jambalaya> some pens will have directions on them for how to store
<Bibi> I KNOW THE ADIRONACK(SP?) ARE SUPPOSED TO LAY FLAT
<KY> haven't seen that yet
<Jambalaya> the adirondack pens MUST be stored horizontaly
<Bibi> YES, OR THE PIGMENT INK INSIDE WILL GET ALL FUNNY ON YOU
<KY> don't think i heard of that brand
<anno> why is that?
<MomCat> I also write with the squeeze bottles of glitter glue like Stickles
<Jambalaya> don't ask me how i know that<g>
<Bibi> DO YOU WRITE WORDS WITH THEM, MomCat?
<Bibi> OR JUST LINES
<Bibi> AND DINGS
<MomCat> yes words, designs, what ever
<sMaria> Have you seen transparent gel pen with glitter, I would love to have that!
<KY> i like to do both write and fill in on cards or scrap pages with mine
<MomCat> they are great for writing names on gift bags
<Bibi> OK, I NEED TO PRACTICE
<MomCat> Rubber Chicken has the Adriondack pens
<MomCat> http://secure.cartsvr.net/catalogs/index.asp?category=204533&count=1
<Dorothy> Got kicked off again!
<Bibi> WHEN I DO THAT, AN AIR BUBBLE IS SURE TO RUIN IT ALL
<Bibi> WB Dorothy
<Dorothy> Ta!#
<MomCat> Bibi, write the word with a pencil first
<Bibi> GREAT IDEA!
<MomCat> and squeeze some of the glitter out onto something you want for a background
<KY> not sure if i will restock my gel pens as they run out.... glitter pens which they have more colors then what i am finding
<MomCat> usually the air bubbles are only in the first squeeze or two
<Bibi> OK... TY
<MomCat> yw
<Dorothy> Pleas can I ask an off topic question?
<Bibi> HAS ANYONE TRIED THE BLEACH PEN, THAT BLUE ONE? IT'S REALLY KEWL! I MADE A DESIGN WITH THE BLEACH ON A BLACK T-SHIRT.
<CindyC> go for it
<sMaria> I really think that transparent gel pen with glitter could be nice for coloring stamped pictures like fairies or snowy pctures, but is there any of them?
<Bibi> SURE, Dorothy
<Dorothy> I wondered if anyone could tell me where to go to set up a picture trail?
<CindyC> www.picturetrail.com
<Bibi> WWW.PICTURETRAIL.COM

<MomCat> lol
<ky> lol cindy
<Bibi> GelFX, mom? what are they?
<MomCat> they are crayons
<anno> I don't know. I just happened to see it yesterday, and it sounds like it'd do what sMarie was talking about, so I thought i'd mention it!
<MomCat> look like normal crayons, but write bright on dark paper
<Bibi> oh, kewl
<Jambalaya> that elf dust looks pretty cool, i think i need it
<MomCat> I keep watching the kids' art sections
<ky> lol that like me picking up a $1.00 embossing toy at the $ store.... was ok should of left it on the shelf
<MomCat> because they are often cheaper
<ky> has anyone used the bleached pens?
<anno> I have used the bleach pen.
<sMaria> too bad that rubber chicken wont open to me...
<anno> to clean the grout in the kids bathtub.
<anno> it was wonderful!
<Bibi> LOL
<Dorothy> It won't open for me either
<ky> how about in your card making or scrapbooks
<Scout> I've used them once...must try it again.
<Jambalaya> bibi, didn't you do a shirt with the bleach pens??
<anno> http://www.rubberchickenrs.com/ see if you can get there on your own.. it was in the glitter section!
<Bibi> YES, I FOUND THAT BLEACH GEL PEN VERY EASY TO USE!
<Bibi> AND AS Y'ALL KNOW, I'M PEN IMPAIRED
<ky> haven't tried bleaching yet

<Bibi> HMMMM.... CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE
<Jambalaya> anno? you need a waterbrush
<sMaria> but now I have to go, buy all and thanks for tips :)
<Scout> I've used bleach with a waterbrush, too. Used on a stamp that had birchtrees stamped on a darker tan cs, turned out gorgeous. with different water colors used on the bleached parts.
<Bibi> I HAVE ONE WATERBRUSH FOR WATRE AND ONE FOR BLEACH
<holl-afk> I won't use that bleach pen anymore. I had one burp bleach all over a card and it made me mad
<Bibi> BYE sMaria

<holl-afk> that sounds really pretty scout
<anno> I know I do.
<Bibi> YEAH

<anno> but..
<anno> so far I don't have one!
<Bibi> I USE WATERCOLOR PENCILS, AND THEN RUN OVER THEM WITH A WATERBRUSH AFTERWARDS
<anno> I called her marie all day, didn't I.
<anno> sheesh.
<Scout> Check the M store
<anno> really?
<anno> hmm.

<holly> I haven't see water brushes at Michaels
<anno> how 'bout AC Moore?
<Scout> didn't know if we should use that M word on here..
<holly> haven't seen them at Hobby Lobby either
<Bibi> HOW ABOUT RUBBERCHICKEN? (JUST A WILD GUESS)
<anno> there IS a hobby lobby in SC now.. but it's far.
<anno> I want a cheap one!
<anno> rofl.
<Scout> I imagine a lot of the co. on the net have them.
<anno> jhone has 'em too.
<Bibi> LOL
<Bibi> OH, KEWL!
<anno> I just haven't been willing to spend that much on one yet.
<anno> anno's can't paint.
<anno> so..
<Bibi> THEY DO LAST FOREVER AND A DAY
<anno> it's something that needs to be cheap.
<anno> since I won't use it, probably.
<anno> :)
<Judy> they are wonderful to use with watercolors
<Bibi> LOL
<Bibi> YES, THEY SURE ARE
<Bibi> BETTER CONTROL OF THE WATER ON THOSE THAN WITH A REG. BRUSH, ME THINKS
<MomCat> rubber chicken does have water brushes
<Bibi> HOW ABOUT BLOW PENS? DO YOU USE THAT?
<Judy> have some - haven't used them
<Scout> Have some, but my lungs aren't up to it anymore
<Judy> need a foot peddle, Scout
<Scout> should give them to my 5 year old grandson
<Bibi> I ONCE HAD THIS SMALL PUMP THINGIE THAT BLEW FOR ME.... LOST IT SOMEWHERE IN MY STASH..
<Scout> a foot peddle like you'd use on blow up toys?
<Judy> they make special ones for the blo pens
<Judy> would get one if I could find it
<Bibi> THE ONE I HAD, HAD A HOLDER FOR THE PEN, WHERE THE NIB POINTED AT THE OPENING WHERE THE AIR CAME OUT. VERY HANDY LITTE THING, FROM A TOY STORE
<Scout> oh, mine is so old and bought so long ago, I didn't know about the peddles.
<Judy> I have one those also, Bibi - you can put any marker in it and blow spots
<anno> like a blitzer!
<Judy> that's its name!
<Bibi> YEAH! THAT'S IT, BLIZTER!
<Scout> that's what I have, a blitzer
<Judy> oh - blo pens are a little different - they have pens of each color
<Bibi> WHAT OTHER PENS DO WE HAVE?
<Bibi> HI inkyfinge
<inkyfinge> Hello
<Bibi> WE'RE DISCUSSING PENS
<inkyfinge> what kind?
<Bibi> DO YOU USE ANY PENS WITH YOUR STAMPING?
<inkyfinge> Yes
<Bibi> ANY KIND
<Bibi> TELL US
<inkyfinge> ok
<Bibi> WE HAVE COVERED QUITE A FEW ALREADY, BUT ANY INPUT IS WELCOME
<inkyfinge> well, I am a consultant so I use the one of the company that I sell for, but I am open to learning about other kinds.
<MomCat> has anybody mentioned "transformer" pens?
<anno> I have not heard of transformer pens.
<inkyfinge> new to me too
<Bibi> WHAT ARE THEY?
<inkyfinge> sounds very interesting!
<MomCat> the pen barrel is the color of the ink
<MomCat> and the end of the pen is a different color
<Shannon> do you bend them and twist them and they turn into a robot?
<inkyfinge> LOL
<MomCat> and their is a white pen in the set
<MomCat> and when you write on top of the ink fromt he other pens with the white pen
<MomCat> the ink turns from the color of the pen barrel
<MomCat> to the color of the pen end
<Bibi> AH.... MAGIC MARKERS, I THINK THEY'RE CALLED HERE
<Shannon> oohhh taylor has some of those.
<MomCat> great for doing stripes and such
<Bibi> THEY ARE LOTSA FUN!
<Bibi> YEAH
<Shannon> hers are called color change markers or something like that
<Bibi> NEED SOME OF THOSE, HAVEN'T HAD THOSE SINCE I WAS A KID
<Bibi> I WONDER... IF YOU COLOR A LOT ON PAPER, THEN STAMP WITH THE WHITE ON ON TOP....
<Bibi> MIGHT WORK!
<Bibi> (IS THAT SNORING I'M HEARING? lol!!)
<Judy> have the volume on my computer completely off - can't hear a thing!
<Bibi> LOL
<CindyC> i got the kids up, have we discussed the color cutter maker pens yet?
<Bibi> WELL, I DID GET SOME IDEAS TODAY
<Bibi> NO, DO YOU HAVE'EM?
<Judy> my favorite use for markers is to color the stamp with them, then stamp
<CindyC> i have the copper one
<Bibi> JUDY, ME TOO
<CindyC> you can outline with color as you cut out a design
<CindyC> very cool
<Judy> does that really work?
<CindyC> yes judy they do!
<Bibi> AND IT DOESN'T SMEAR AS YOU CUT?
<CindyC> not if you let them dry
<CindyC> as you cut? nope
<Bibi> MAYBE I NEED SOME OF THOSE, TOO....
<CindyC> takes a little practice to get the angle right, but then you are good to go
<CindyC> lol of course you do
<Judy> could spend a fortune on all the pens out there!
<Bibi> g
<jenmist> LOL
<Judy> (I think I have - and half of them don't work!)
<jenmist> some of us already have
<CindyC> for solid stamps you can color it with one marker and then stamp a design from another right onto the stamp, cool
<Judy> hate gel pens
<Bibi> THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS WE NEED, WILL IT NEVER END? (HOPE NOT! lol)
<CindyC> gosh i have pens that are years old and still work
<Bibi> OH, KEWL IDEA, CINDY, I NEVER TRIED THAT
<CindyC> cept those gel pens.... i won't ever trust them again
<Judy> only gel pens I have that work are the ones with glitter
<Judy> and white pens hate me
<Bibi> LOL
<Jambalaya> NEXT EVENT IS IN #craftclass
<anno> and white pens are so cool!
<CindyC> they are
<Bibi> IT'S A CONSPIRACY, JUDY
<Judy> and so useful when they work
<anno> judy, have you tried the white-out pens?
<CindyC> i have one of those galazy pens in white and they work great judy
<Judy> not since I left work, anno
<CindyC> galaxy
<Bibi> OK, LET'S MOCE OVER TO #craftclass , shall we?
<Bibi> MOVE
<anno> sure.
<Judy> will get one if I find one, Cindy
<Bibi> THAT IS
<anno> we can find out what to do with our dead gel pens there, maybe.
<Bibi> hi lilo
<Bibi> lol
<CindyC> lol
