<Kaisa> I just bought one but haven't used it yet
<Jambalaya> i use versamark a lot kaisa,
<Jambalaya> and you can find samples in a lot of my classes, but i haven't done one just on versamark
<Kaisa> ok
<Jambalaya> my favorite use for it, is to make backgrounds
<Jambalaya> just stamp it, on most any cardstock, and it gives you a watermark look
<Jambalaya> i love that, because it always matches
<Kaisa> I have to try
<Kaisa> oh.. :)
<Jambalaya> let me find a sample
<Jambalaya> hi mom
<Kaisa> that would be nice
<Kaisa> hello MomCat! :)
<Jambalaya> oh time for class now,
<Jambalaya> but i'll show some stuff next hour, ok?
<Kaisa> ok :)
<MomCat> Hi
<Nancie> HI
<MomCat> http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=2843955&uid=1171869 [There were so many wonderful images, but the logger couldn't put them all on this web page. Please visit Jambalaya's picturetrail to see more.]
<MomCat> We'll wait just a few more minutes
<MomCat> to see if anybody else is coming
<Jambalaya> mom, this is Nancie's first time here
<MomCat> Hi, Nancie and welcome!
<Nancie> thanks
<MomCat> Kaisa, I think this is the first time I have seen you this convention
<MomCat> Let's go ahead and start.
<MomCat> http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=2843955&uid=1171869
<MomCat> that's the class page
<MomCat> THESE SAMPLES WERE MADE BY jAMBALAYA
<MomCat> STUBBY STAMPERS SELLS SPIRELLI TEMPLATES AND ALL THE STAMPS ARE FROM STUBBY
<Jambalaya> http://www.stubbystampers.com/
<MomCat> THERE ARE LINKS TO STUBBYSTAMPERS ON ALL THE SAMPLES
<MomCat> http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=2843955&uid=1171869
<lou> ty
<MomCat> WE ARE JUST STARTING LOU
<MomCat> THE TOP IMAGE IS A SAMPLE OF WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH SPIRELLI
<MomCat> http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=2843955&uid=1171869
<MomCat> IN THE SECOND PICTURE YOU CAN SEE WHAT THE SPIRELLI TEMPLATES LOOK LIKE
<MomCat> USE A LITTLE REPOSITIONABLE TAPE TO HOLD THE TEMPLATE IN PLACE WHILE YOU ARE CUTTING THE CARDSTOCK
<MomCat> USE A SELF-HEALING CUTTING MAT
<MomCat> jAM DOES STUBBY SELL CUTTING MATS?
<Jambalaya> no
<Nancie> What are the templates made of?
<Jambalaya> they are available at any craft, or fabric store
<Jambalaya> metal
<MomCat> EVOLVING IMAGES WHICH IS ALSO IN THE CONVENTION DOES SELL SELF-HEALING MATS
<Nancie> thanks
<MomCat> sTUBBY SELLS A SWIVEL CLIP BOARD
<MomCat> WHICH MAKES IT SO THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACTUALLY TURN YOUR CARDSTOCK
<MomCat> TO EASILY GET TO THE WHOLE TEMPLATE
<MomCat> CUT FROM TH ECORNER TO THE OUTER EDGE
<MomCat> THIS SAVES YOUR KNIFE BLADE FROM HITTING THE METAL
<MomCat> YOU CAN CUT JUST A BIT PAST THE POINT
<MomCat> THAT WAY YOUR SPIRELLI WILL COME EASILY FREE OF THE REST OF THE CARDSTOCK
<MomCat> ANY QUESTIONS?
<Nancie> no. got it.
<Kaisa> no
<lou> no
<MomCat> NOW WE ARE READY TO WRAP THREAD AROUND THE SPIRELLI
<MomCat> TAPE YOUR THREAD TO THE BACK OF THE SPIRELLI
<MomCat> USE REGULAR TAPE FOR THIS
<MomCat> JUST PLAY WITH WRAPPING THE THREAD
<MomCat> UNTIL YOU LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS
<Kaisa> is it that easy? I always thought I should have strict instructions!
<MomCat> CONTINUE AROUND THE SPIRELLI UNTIL YOU LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS
<MomCat> YES IT IS
<Jambalaya> it's easy if you don't over think it<g>
<Kaisa> :)
<lou> as in most things!
<MomCat> TAPE THE END OF YOUR THREAD THE BACK OF THE SPIRELLI
<MomCat> http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=2843955&uid=1171869
<MomCat> THERE ARE HOLES IN THE TEMPLATE
<MomCat> THAT ARE TO GUIDE THE ADDING OF BEADS
<MomCat> SO IF YOU WANT TO ADD BEADS
<MomCat> MARK THE HOLES ON THE CARDSTOCK BEFORE YOU SEPARATE IT FROM THE TEMPLATE
<MomCat> JUST SEW THE BEADS ON LIKE YOU WOULD ON FABRIC
<MomCat> THIS WILL PROBABLY LOOK BETTER IF YOU MATCH THE THREAD TO THE CARD STOCK
<MomCat> NOW LET'S LOOK AT JAMBALAYA'S SAMPLES
<MomCat> AND SEE HOW VERSITILE THESE ARE
<MomCat> ALL THE IMAGES ARE FROM STUBBY STAMPERS
<MomCat> AND THERE IS A LINK TO STUBBY STAMPERS WITH EACH PICTURE
<MomCat> THIS IS ALL jAMBALAYA'S ART WORK.
<Nancie> very nice!
<MomCat> JAM, IN THE TOP ONE THE BEADS ARE OUTSIDE THE SPIRELLI
<MomCat> HOW DID YOU MARK THOSE?
<MomCat> JUST "EYEBALL" IT?
<Jambalaya> the oval and circle layers were all cut using evo templates from Evolving Images
<MomCat> YES
<Jambalaya> yes mom
<Jambalaya> just centered the holes between the points
<MomCat> THE FOURTH ONE BELOW THE INSTRUCTIONS
<MomCat> THE ONE WITH THE BELLS
<MomCat> HOW DID YOU DO THE METALLIC EDGES ON THE LAYERS?
<Jambalaya> with a Krylon gold leaf pen
<Jambalaya> just run it along the edges
<MomCat> YOU DON'T USE THE EVO TEMPLATES TO DO THAT?
<MomCat> O K THANKS
<Jambalaya> i don't, no
<Jambalaya> but that might be helpful
<Nancie> I'm trying to visualize. Am I right that the more points you skip, the smaller the center opening will be?
<Jambalaya> the Krylon pen nib is soft, and after you've used it a couple times, it forms a grove in the nib, so it just glides along the edge
<Jambalaya> yes nancie
<lou> how many times did it take before you got the hang of it?
<Nancie> thanks
<Jambalaya> first time
<Jambalaya> it's way easier than it looks<g>
<Jambalaya> i love stuff that looks like a lot of work, but isn't<g>
<MomCat> LOL
<lou> what type of thread?
<Jambalaya> any thread you like
<Jambalaya> most of these are the metallic threads you find in the embroidery section at any craft or fabric store
<Jambalaya> sewing thread is ok too, if you don't want metallics
<Jambalaya> embroidery floss, yarns, really, anything you like
<MomCat> ISN'T THIS THREAD LIKE SEWING THREAD HARDER TO CONTROL
<Jambalaya> well, you tape down the end, and work right from the spool,so
* MomCat IS VERY GOOD AT TANGLING THREAD
<lou> lol
<MomCat> O K THANKS
<Jambalaya> as long as you don't drop the spool, it doesn't get tangled
<Jambalaya> of course, when you do drop it, it rolls all the way to other side of the room, and picks up all the cat hair on the way<g>
<MomCat> HAVE Y'ALL HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK AT THESE?
<Jambalaya> a neat trick i use, is
<Nancie> yes
<Jambalaya> to put the spool in a small box, so it won't roll all over
<lou> really pretty! I've noticed a hugh popularity in these lately
<MomCat> WANT TO LOOK AT THE SPIRELLI TEMPLATES?
<Kaisa> :)
<MomCat> http://www.stubbystampers.com/shopping/stencils/spirelli.html
<lou> how could you ever decide which one..........
<Jambalaya> heh
<Jambalaya> i didn't, i have them all<g>
<Kaisa> that christmas tree is cool
<Jambalaya> yes
<Jambalaya> now the Christmas Tree shape , the thread is wound a little different
<Jambalaya> you don't go all the way around it, like on the circles and ovals
<Jambalaya> you just wind thread around the corners
<Jambalaya> sorry i don't have a sample of it
<lou> do you have a favorite?
<Jambalaya> hmmmmmm, i guess if i HAD to choose, it would be the circle with small points
<MomCat> YOU COULD MAKE STRINGS OF BEADS ACROSS THE CHRISTMAS TREE
<Jambalaya> yes mom, that would be a fun look
<MomCat> ALMOST DECORATE IT LIKE A MINIATURE REAL TREE
<Jambalaya> brb
<MomCat> K
<MomCat> SATURDAY MORNING AT 9:00 HOURS CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME
<MomCat> 3:00 AM SATURDAY MORNING EASTERN TIME
<MomCat> WE'LL HAVE OUR REGULAR SATURDAY MORNING CLASS
<Kaisa> I've been there sometimes :)
<MomCat> IT WILL BE A DISCUSSION
<MomCat> WHAT YOU LIKED AND DIDN'T LIKE IN THE CONVENTION
<Jambalaya> back
<MomCat> HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP EXPAND THE AVAILABILITY OF CLASSES FOR THE EUROPEAN TIME ZONES
<MomCat> SO THINK ABOUT IT AND BRING YOUR IDEAS
<Kaisa> unfortunately I can't come tomorrow
<MomCat> YOU CAN WRITE ME momcat@dm.net
<Kaisa> 1 PM class would be just perfect for Europe people I think
<Kaisa> this 2 PM is also nice
<Kaisa> but I think the rest are quite late at least for me
<MomCat> I WAS THINKING ABOUT DOING A 2PM CLASS EVERY MONDAY
<Jambalaya> 2 pm is about as early as most of us are willing to get up<g>
<MomCat> AT LEAST UNTIL I GET A JOBE
<MomCat> JOB
<Kaisa> oh
<MomCat> JOBS ARE WHY WE DON'T HAVE MORE AFTER NOON CLASSES
<Kaisa> I understand
<MomCat> BUT WE CAN MAKE THE SPACE AVAILABLE TO Y'ALL
<Kaisa> I couln't participate in any class 2 PM in Finnish time
<MomCat> THE ONLY THING IS THAT THE STAMPS USED IN CLASS MUST COME FROM OUR MALL VENDORS
<Kaisa> time zones make life very weird in this kind of hobby!
<MomCat> YES
<Kaisa> I'm sleeping when you all are just stamping :)
<MomCat> BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
<MomCat> WE ARE PIONEERS
<MomCat> THIS WOLRD WIDE ARTISTS' COMMUNITY
<Kaisa> yep!
<MomCat> IS SOMETHING NEW AND WONDERFUL WE ARE CREATING
<MomCat> IF YOU CAN FIND TEACHERS WHO WILL USE MALL VENDOR STAMPS AND TEACH IN ENGLISH
<MomCat> YOU CAN HAVE CLASSES THAT SUIT YOUR TIME ZONES
<Kaisa> I have to remember that
<Kaisa> I don't know if there were any in England or in Holland
<MomCat> ANY WHAT?
<Kaisa> any teachers
<MomCat> i DON'T THINK WE HAVE HAD ANY FROM THOSE COUNTRIES
<MomCat> JONA FROM GERMANY HAS TAUGHT
<Jambalaya> y'all need to work on Dorothy, she does awesome work
<MomCat> AND WEZZ FROM BELGIUM
<Kaisa> oh
