<Wanda> Wonderful, Jam!!

<BlackCats> great ideas, jam

<Wanda> I really like that fan.

<Jambalaya> THIS CLASS IS MADE UP OF WHAT ANDY CALLS GOOD OLD FASHIONED STAMPING

<Jambalaya> NOTHING HARD HERE

<cak> (thank you, thank you, thank you)

<Jambalaya> JUST FUN TO DO STUFF

<scout> Being an X beauty operator, the hair one really makes me laugh....

<evo> Where is Andy? Where can she be? I can't believe she's not here rhyming with me ;}>

<Jambalaya> UHTOH, I THINK I FORGOT TO TELL ANDY I WAS TEACHING TONIGHT<G>

<evo> lol!

<Patty> oh no where can see be..........is she up a tree

<BlackCats> oops <G>

<cak> oh no!

<cak> call her quick

<Jambalaya> I CAN'T I'M ON LINE<G>

<cak> oh shoot--I forgot

<BlackCats> you gonna call her, evo?

<evo> will do

<BlackCats> k

<Jambalaya> WELL, ANDY KNOWS HOW TO DO ALL THIS STUFF, SO WE'LL GO ON WITH CLASS<G>

<BlackCats> lol

<pmstamper> lol

<Jambalaya> IN FACT, IF I NEVER MENTIONED IT, ANDY IS THE ONE TO BLAME FOR ME GETTING INTO STAMPING OVER 18 YEARS AGO<G>

<BlackCats> good for her!

<Jambalaya> IT'S ALL HER FAULT

<cak> we'll have to send her a nice thank you

<BlackCats> yep

<cak> (using her stamps, of course)

<Jambalaya> OK THE FIRST CARD INVOLVES MY FAVORITE TECHNIQUE OF ALL TIME, HEAT EMBOSSING

<evo> Andy is coming, yes she is!

<Jambalaya> WHO WOULDA THUNK A CHRISTMAS TREE COULD BE TURNED UPSIDE DOWN TO MAKE A GORGEOUS VICTORIAN FAN?

<evo> I told her to get her butt in here to see Jamba's biz

<evo> :}>

<Jambalaya> YA HER EARS ARE PROLLY BURNING NOW ANYWAY<G>

<Jambalaya> OH AND BTW, BEFORE I FORGET

<Jambalaya> STUBBY STAMPERS IS SPONSORING THE MYSTERY STAMP THIS MONTH

<Jambalaya> IT'S A GOOD ONE, BE SURE TO ORDER IT

<evo> rofl!

<Jambalaya> THERE SHE IS!

<evo> Jam rhymed!

<cak> this stamp in particular could be used for so many things--border, frame, background tiles

<cak> and it's lovely too

<stubby> Here she is!

<Jambalaya> LOL

<evo> Heyyyyy, stubby!

<joy> Andy!

<Wanda> Hi Andy

<pmstamper> hey andy

<stubby> Hey everyone

<evo> Andy... believe it or not, Jam said...

<BlackCats> hi andy

<Jambalaya> THE TREE STAMP IS EMBOSSED WITH PEARLYTRE EP

<Jambalaya> PEARLUSTRE

<stubby> i want to see!

<evo> Oh, and by the way, before I forget ... Stubby Stampers is sponsoring the Mystery Stamp this month ... It's a good one, be sure to order it!

<Jambalaya> http://www.stubbystampers.com/dualduty.htm

<evo> rhyming and all

<Jambalaya> LOL, EVO PRONOUNCES IT FORGIT, SO SHE THINKS IT RHYMES<G>

<evo> yes'm

<Jambalaya> IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO SEE HOW I COULD HAVE RHYMED<G>

<Stampverb> me too

<evo> ;}>

<stubby> lol

<Stampverb> my KY kinfold say "fer=gyiiiit"

<Stampverb> fer-gyit

<stubby> what is wrong with that?????

<Stampverb> nuttin

<evo> yeah, verb... lol

<Jambalaya> MOVING RIGHT ALONG NOW.......

<Jambalaya> ANY QUESTIONS ON THE FIRST CARD?

<cak> (I guess not)

<Jambalaya> OK, THE CAT IS THE STAMP THAT INSPIRED THIS CLASS

<Jambalaya> TURNED ON HIS SIDE, HIS FUR MAKES THE CUTEST GRASS

<BlackCats> that's such a cool idea!

<Patty> so cute

<cak> I *never* would have thought of that--and that's the first one?

<Jambalaya> ANOTHER OLD FASHIONED TECHNIQUE, WAS THE USE OF MARKERS INSTEAD OF STAMP PADS

<pmstamper> nifty, that really is a two for one

<Jambalaya> THE CAT IS COLORED DIRECT TO RUBBER WITH A SLATE BLUE MARKER

<evo> ohhhhhh, I see it now

<Jambalaya> AND THE GRASS USED A GREEN MARKER, AFTER IT'S STAMPED, YOU CAN PULL THE COLOR OUT OVER THE GRASS WITH A WET BRUSH

<Jambalaya> A VERY SIMPLE MASK WAS MADE WITH A POST IT NOTE

<Jambalaya> JUST STAMP THE IMAGE AND CUT IT OUT, NO NEED TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL ON IT

<Jambalaya> IT WAS JUST TO KEEP THE GRASS FROM COVERING HIS PAWS

<Jambalaya> ANY QUESTIONS?

<Patty> not yet

<Jambalaya> I CAN HEAR Y'ALL BREATHING, WAKE UP

<stubby> for goodness sake, I am a wake!

<Patty> we are just waiting

<Jambalaya> THE NEXT CARD WITH THE EMBOSSED FLOWERS IS JUST PLAIN FUN

<BlackCats> lol

<Stampverb> no questions Jam

<Jambalaya> I LOVE TO EMBOSS A TON OF FLOWERS AND LEAVES ON SCRAP CARDSTOCK, AND CUT THEM OUT

<stubby> and pretty, because I have the original

<BlackCats> sitting here eagerly taking it all in

<evo> No questions yet, but you better watch out ... 'cause questions are whut evo's about

<Jambalaya> I HAVE A DRAWER FULL OF THESE ELEMENTS JUST WAITING TO BE PUT ON CARDS

<cak> am I still here?

[all were dumped from dm irc server at this point. We then slowly filtered back in]

<Jambalaya> OK, BACK TO CLASS<G>

<Jambalaya> I WAS STARTING THE BOOK PAGE

<Jambalaya> THE SAME INK IS USED FOR DIFFERENT EFFECTS

<Jambalaya> IT'S THE LAVENDAR DISTRESS PAD BTW

<Jambalaya> FIRST I SPONGED, JUST TO SHADE THE CORNER

<Jambalaya> THEN STAMPED

<Jambalaya> THEN HIGHLIGHT STAMPED THE LITTLE DOT STAMP TO LOOK LIKE BABY'S BREATH

<Patty> very effective Jam

<stubby> that little 2.50 stubby stick is a must have, we use it for lots of things

<Jambalaya> IT'S VERY SUBTLE, SO DOESN'T SCAN TOO WELL

<BlackCats> neat idea for page corners in a gift journal

<Jambalaya> YES, IT DOESN'T TAKE OVER THE WHOLE PAGE

<stubby> can also be used in blue or gray for falling snow

<stubby> and can cover up ink smears nicely, like "i meant to do that"

<Jambalaya> AND HOLLY BERRIES ON A WREATH IN RED

<Jambalaya> OR JUST AN OVERALL BACKGROUND, ON PURPOSE OR NOT<G>

<stubby> or repeat over and over for a great border

<Jambalaya> OOOO YA A BORDER, COOL

<stubby> Charles says i can sell the heck out of a $2.50 stamp

<Jambalaya> ROFL

<Jambalaya> WELL IT'S A STAMP EVERYONE NEEDS

<stubby> we think, don't we

<Jambalaya> THE NEXT CARD WAS A SAMPLE SENT IN TO OUR YAHOO GROUP CHALLENGE

<Jambalaya> BY BECKY ROBERTS

<Jambalaya> I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT TO CUT THAT HEART WREATH APART AND USE THE IMAGES SEPARATELY

<Jambalaya> NEAT QUILTED EFFECT

<pmstamper> that is a great idea--so many combinations when you think of stamps that way.

<cak> yeah, parts of stamps are looking very useful (grass, conversational hearts, all good)

<Jambalaya> AND THEN, FOR THE SAME CHALLENGE, BRENDA FRY REALLY USED SOME STAMPS DIFFERENTLY

<Jambalaya> THE STEM FROM THE TULIPS, AND THE HEART CUT OUT FOR PETALS

<Jambalaya> THE NEXT ONE IS REALLY MY FAVORITE FOR THIS CLASS

<Jambalaya> ANDY DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE FISH TAIL MAKING A SEAPLANT<G>

<stubby> nope that was a new one for me

<Jambalaya> I SPOTTED THAT BY LOOKING AT MY CATALOG UPSIDE DOWN AND SIDEWAYS

<joy> if you had tried to do that it would never have worked

<BlackCats> lol, good idea

<stubby> we had a lot of fun discussing ideas for this class

<Jambalaya> YA THERE REALLY ARE A LOT MORE STAMPS THAT HAVE MORE THAN ONE USE

<stubby> if you get together with friends, get them to bring their stamps and y'all try to look at them differently

<Jambalaya> THERE MAY BE A SEQUEL TO THIS CLASS SOMEDAY<G>

<stubby> i love the willow for sea grass

<BlackCats> uh huh

<Jambalaya> AND THE LIL SAND DUNE.GRASS STAMP FOR THE "HILLS"

<BlackCats> I can see us all looking at our stamps in new ways now

<pmstamper> I can remember when I was first starting stamping..

<pmstamper> I had to make due with what I had...so was a little more inventive

<stubby> this class ought make you grab those days back pat

<Jambalaya> WELL I HAVE TO SAY, I KINDA MISSED THIS TYPE OF STAMPING THE FIRST TIME AROUND, SO IT WAS NEW TO ME

<Jambalaya> AND IT'S FUN!

<pmstamper> yes, it is a good reminder

<Jambalaya> THE LAST 2 CARDS ON THE BOTTOM ARE BY OUR OWN ANDY

<stubby> it is hard to remember when we did not stamp

<Jambalaya> A CHRISTMAS TREE DRESS

<BlackCats> that's a very cute idea andy

<stubby> the flocked tree

<pmstamper> that is soo nifty

<Jambalaya> THERE'S A LITTLE GARLAND STAMP SHE USED AS A BORDER, AND THE GIRLS CHIN

<Jambalaya> AND CHECK OUT THE COOL BACKGROUND THAT BURST STAMP MAKES

<Jambalaya> VERY FESTIVE

<stubby> it was made to go on a Christmas tree as a repeat stamp

<Jambalaya> HI stampress

<Jambalaya> http://www.stubbystampers.com/dualduty.htm

<stampress> hi

<BlackCats> hmmm, think I need to add that stamp to my wish list...cool background

<Jambalaya> YEP, AND WAIT TILL YOU SEE IT USED WITH OPALITES ON BLACK

<Jambalaya> GREAT FOR A NEW YEARS CARD

<BlackCats> ooooh, thats sounds great

<stubby> i think my silliness gets a bit overwhelming for vicki some times

<Jambalaya> LOL, ONLY WHEN YOU DRAG ME OVER THE LINE INTO THE CUTESY ZONE<G>

<stubby> lol

<Jambalaya> NOTICE I MADE SURE THE ARTISTS WERE CREDITED ON THE CLASS PAGE<G>

<Patty> very good Jam

<BlackCats> very nice jam

<stubby> fun class vicki, thanks for making stubby stamps look good

<Jambalaya> TAKE SOME TIME TO LOOK AT YOUR STAMPS, TURN THEM EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE

<joy> thank you for the new perspectives!

<Jambalaya> AND DON'T FORGET TO ORDER THE MYSTERY STAMP

<BlackCats> k

<Jambalaya> YEP, LOTS OF WAYS TO USE THE MYSTERY STAMP TOO, WISH I COULD TELL Y'ALL ABOUT IT<G>

<Patty> do you still want some sizzix tags?

<Jambalaya> BUT IT'S A MYSTERY<G>

<stubby> Thank you all for coming to her class and always for your support of us

<Jambalaya> ya hang on

<pmstamper> ok, thanks : )

<Jambalaya> http://www.cyberstampers.com/mystery062805.html [the log is also posted]

<pmstamper> soo, it was the square pattern?

<Jambalaya> ya

<Jambalaya> big big big background stamp

<pmstamper> lol, I had ordered it, but was late sending my payment, so I haven't gotten it yet.

<BlackCats> wow, neat ideas

<Jambalaya> you won't be sorry

<pmstamper> I can see it has lots of uses.

<pmstamper> How are us oldie stubby stamper stampers going to tell if we already have the stamp?

<joy> ya I have quite a few

<Jambalaya> pat, call andy, she can't keep a secret ya know

* Jambalaya ducks

<pmstamper> lol, Ok, good idea. Cause I can always use an excuse to order more stamps anyway.

<stubby> i will tell you pat, just email me,

<stubby> lol

<pmstamper> like potatoe chips, I can't get just one!

<Jambalaya> i know, huh?

<Jambalaya> seems such a waste to order just one stamp<g>

<Jambalaya> oh joy, btw

<Jambalaya> thanks about that riggers tote

<Jambalaya> i got one today

<joy> now, you can't keep it plain canvas color!

<Jambalaya> hmmmm, ya i should stamp it, huh?

<joy> you will be amazed how much you can fit in it!

<joy> I sprayed mine with dye ink

<Jambalaya> well i got it specifically for my clay stuff

<Jambalaya> i think the pasta machine will even fit in it

<stubby> tell me again joy, got that at harbour freight, right?

<joy> good idea!

<Jambalaya> yes andy

<joy> mine is my travel bag for classes and club meetings

<Jambalaya> only 9.99

<stubby> darn vicki, you are gonna break hanks back carrying all that stuff for you

<Jambalaya> a real deal

<Jambalaya> lol

<joy> I did one for a friend's birthday gift too

<BlackCats> back

<pmstamper> what does it look like?

<Jambalaya> www.harborfreight.com

<Jambalaya> search riggers tote

<pmstamper> ooh, on the website..thanks.

<Jambalaya> a ton of pockets

<Jambalaya> it really should be called a stampers tote

<joy> HF had a great $4 plastic organizer that fit in it wonderfully and I have a ton of extras in that bag

<Jambalaya> uhtoh, you didn't tell me about those

<joy> hmmm, let me see if I can find that

<BlackCats> lol

<stubby> is that the little boxes with the separaTE boxes in it joy?

<joy> yes

<cak> you know, we're gonna hafta make you our personal shopper for this good stuff joy

<stubby> i love those

<stubby> i buy those all the time

<pmstamper> i searched riggers and it showed up

<joy> but I took a row out and added seal tite containers for EPs

<pmstamper> looks like a great find, especially since you can decorate it.

<Jambalaya> the hf on airline hwy has a ton of the totes pat

<Jambalaya> on the aisle with tool belts

<stubby> were they 5.99 there

<Jambalaya> she's looking on hf site for them

<pmstamper> I may go take a look if they are open, I just got a bag as a present that is working well--it is a gym/makeup/overnight thingy.

<stubby> folks, i am gonna call it a night, thanks again jam for the great class. Enjoyed seeing all of you again

<cak> Night stubby

<pmstamper> glad you were here andy. I'll be talking to you soon.

<Jambalaya> sweet dreams andy

<BlackCats> nite stubby

<stubby> have a great safe 4th

<Jambalaya> ya stay off the highways<g>

<joy> well I will be darned if I can find that organizer Jam

<joy> I wish I had kept the label on it

<Jambalaya> i think i know which ones you mean

<pmstamper> Someone had that at the last stampclub meeting around here, it is a box that has other separate boxes inside it?

<Jambalaya> andy had gotten some

<Jambalaya> but i never saw them at our local hf

<pmstamper> if it is what I am thinking, I am pretty sure they have them, they just sell out periodically.

<joy> ya Pat

<pmstamper> hi jen

<joy> it was the first time I saw them and they had 3 different kinds

<Jennifer> hi

<Jennifer> I need a drink

<joy> hi jennifer

<Jennifer> oops sorry

<Jambalaya> hi Jennifer

<BlackCats> hi jen

<joy> I can scan it for you Jam

<pmstamper> lol, rough day?

<Jambalaya> nah, thats ok joy

<Jennifer> oh yeah

<Jambalaya> i can only drag hank out there once in a blue moon<g>

<joy> well Walmart had these nice very square storage plastics that open on all 4 sides too

<joy> and the neat thing was I could fit two of those regualr wasy in the bag and the smallest sideways for the inks and then this plastic tote too- they all fit!

<Jambalaya> cool

<Jambalaya> joy did you wash it before you dyed it?

<Jennifer> what are you guys tlaking about?

<Jambalaya> it's called a riggers tote at harbor freight

<joy> no, I probably should have but it seems to have taken, was afraid it would look like those tote bags do after they are washed- no body to them

<Jambalaya> perfect for a stamping kit

<Jambalaya> ah prolly good plan

<joy> let me tell you I used these dye inks Delta use to make- older then my son and never opened

<Jambalaya> lol

<Jambalaya> nothing dries up down here<g>

<joy> I have a good questtion for you smarties

<Jambalaya> ok

<pmstamper> uh oh, a pop quiz

<joy> I got a couple of these--washes that you spray form a compnay

<joy> from

<joy> and they reminded me of peerless colors, just in a sray bottle

<joy> so I tried making my own and I swear the color is the same BUT

<joy> the official ones penetrate the 140 watercolor wonderfully and the peerless ones sit more on top of that same paper. Any ideas what I need to add to it?

<Jambalaya> you want it to penetrate?

<Jambalaya> or not?

<joy> yes, to really soak right in

<Jambalaya> hmmmmmm

<Jambalaya> soak the paper first?

<joy> didn't need to do that with these others

<Jambalaya> just short of letting it fall apart i mean

<Jambalaya> well, we don't know whats in those

<Jambalaya> say the brand

<joy> Zia

<joy> wonderwashes

<Jambalaya> alcohol?

<joy> nope

<Jambalaya> i've never seen them

<joy> they are very new

<Jambalaya> i heard of them, but she hasn't been at a con i went to in a while

<Jennifer> She will be at the one in Novi.

<Jennifer> joy, what are you trying to achieve?

<joy> cheaper ones, lol

<Jambalaya> lol

<Jennifer> cheaper what?

<Jennifer> I guess I"m confused of what you aer trying

<joy> they are way too high in price

<Jambalaya> she wants to make her own zia washes

<Jennifer> you mean the peerless are too high in price?

<Jennifer> oh

<joy> ya Jam gets it

<Jennifer> Why don't you just take water and dye inks together in a spray bottle?

<Jambalaya> well, i'm guessing, but there has to be some kind of solvent in it if it penetrates the paper

<joy> did, they don't soak in right

<Jennifer> I think you would use distilled water.

<joy> solvent huh, I was thinking of a surfactant

<Jennifer> what kind of paper are you using?

<joy> 140 watercolor

<joy> well Jam if you ever get any info let me know ok?

<Jambalaya> lol, ok

<joy> they make a beautiful paer and you just stamp in black over it

<Jambalaya> i do that too, always looking for a cheaper way

<joy> well dang they are $29 for 5 bottles of 1 ounce

<joy> $20

<Jambalaya> ouch

<BlackCats> yikes

<joy> I got to use them in a class

<BlackCats> is it concentrate?

<joy> nope

<BlackCats> ouch, that's a bit too pricey

<joy> I got to thinking about them when I saw those tote bags

<Kriztina> thats only 4 dollars each

<Jennifer> you can get 2ounce bottles for 6 bucks

<Kriztina> thats not outrageous

<joy> and the peerless look the same but just don't act the same

<Jambalaya> ya but it's only one ounce

<joy> but if you take 1/2 inch of peerless color and add water to the top you get the same color for soooo much cheaper

<Kriztina> well since i buy perfume at 165 dollars a half ounce it doesnt seem too bad to me

<joy> ouch

<joy> guess we all have our own types of "perfumes", to me it's art supplies

<joy> thanks for the suggestions though

<Jambalaya> ya, and if you like it that much, i guess 20 bucks isn't that bad

<Jambalaya> i've spent more on other stuff that turned out to be junk<g>

<joy> like it but didn't think it would last long enough

<BlackCats> yeah, that's true

<cak> have you tried Photo-Flo as an additive to break water tension?

<Jennifer> have you tried adirondacks?

<joy> no to both

<Jambalaya> uhtoh, the chemist speaks up

<joy> what's photo flo?

<Jambalaya> or should i say the alchemist?<g>

<cak> it's a product from Kodak.

<cak> lol

<joy> well I do chemistry for a living and can't come up with anything

<cak> (wannabe)

<cak> you add it to wash water to help wash chemicals out of film when you develop it

<cak> oops, wait

<cak> that's not right

<joy> lol

<cak> hypoclear (sodium thiosulfate I think is the major component)

<cak> that's what you wash with.

<joy> that's why I was thinking sufactant but have no idea where you would get any

<cak> You add photo-flo to the last rinse so that water doesn't bead up on the film and make water spots

<joy> guess I will talk to the local photo store guy, he's really smart

<cak> but photo-flo is considered a surfactant I believe (it's been a while)

<joy> well thatnks cak

<Kriztina> ok i'm going to bed

<Kriztina> night all

<joy> nite Kriz

<cak> Night Kriz

<Kriztina> byeeeeee

<Kriztina> 3

<Kriztina> 2

<joy> lol

<BlackCats> oops, missed her

<Jennifer> why not just take the dye ink and distilled water in a bottle, spray it on the paper. and then iron it

<joy> it kind of puddles on the paper

<joy> doesn't absorb like I want it too

<Jennifer> you need to use a finer mist

<joy> ok, I have bored you all with this long enough, thanks

<cak> you should be aware that dye ink is not lightfast usually

<cak> not me--I love this stuff

<pmstamper> nite y'all I have to go too.

<joy> I was using peerless

<joy> nite Pat

<cak> night pm

<joy> peerless is lightfast right Jam?

<Jambalaya> yes joy

<joy> ok, moving on...

<BlackCats> lol

<Jambalaya> lol

<cak> test it on some reds--they're usually the most fugitive

<Jennifer> what is lightfast?

<Jambalaya> lightfast means it won't fade

<cak> won't fade when exposed to light for extended times

<Jambalaya> when exposed to light

<cak> (extended can be as little as weeks for some)

<Jennifer> adirondack inks are fade resistant

<joy> hmm, wonder, cak can you add water to alcohol inks?

<Jennifer> probably have to shake it up before use.

<cak> I would think so, alcohol and water do mix

<BlackCats> yeah, should work ok

<cak> I'm not sure if you would retain the properties you're using the inks for though

<joy> well they would end up as expensive to try

<Jennifer> I think it would be diluted then

<Jennifer> maybe they are made of alcohol the color washes.

<joy> I know I am on to something with these peerless, just can't figure out the missing ingredient

<joy> well I am headed to my sewing machine for awhile, thanks for the help

<Jambalaya> nite joy, sweet dreams

<cak> Night joy

<joy> nite

<BlackCats> nite joy

<cak> if you're interested in experimentation, try the photo-flo. I think it's pretty cheap
